McDavid school educated many minds during its existence. When the school opened in 1911, the principal was Maggie Roberson. While the school was opened, it employed many people. Sue Weaver, Sarah Noblin, Christerton Silcox, Alma Boroughs, Rose Smith, Nell Latimer, Margarett Crary, Ordry Hammond, Virgie Higdon, Matilda Vaughn, Mrs. McCormic, Minnie Tippins, Annie Harrison, Andrew Ward, Alice Hicks, Clint Rigby, Dotia Brewton, and Kathleen Tuberville were all employed as teachers. After Maggie Roberson, Sarah Noblin was hired as principal. Later on Gergia Parker became principal. Next was Esta Stanton, Alma Redman, Fav Donnelly, Loletta Bratcher, Una Bratcher, and the last principal of McDavid school was Kathleen Tuberville. According to a former student, Ms. Patsy Green, Ms. Margaret Crary was principal while she was a student there, from 1955 until 1961. She may have had the official title of Teacher in Charge, but she was always referred to as the principal as well. She also taught 5th and 6th grades. The school stayed open from 1911 to 1967. The building ramained standing until 1993 when it was tragically burned.
