In 1946 during registration, the young people and newcomers had no idea they lived in Wardville, because the Wards had moved on. Nellie Davis wrote an article for the Atmore Advance and called the article "News from Davisville." After this, everyone registered to vote as living in Davisville, so offically on Court House records there was no longer Wardville or Davis Settlement. The community of Davisville had officially been formed and recorded and with it came progress for its members.

The years to follow were active and progressive for the community as well as the school. The Home Demonstration Club for Women was replaced with the Davisville Community Club. The land where the historical old Ward Dam was, has been leased and a new dam built. Later a club house was added and paid for by monies received from Fair Exhibits in the Atmore, Pensacola, and Mobile Fairs. (The Davisville Community exhibit took first place for well over ten years). Gov. Rubin Askew was the guest at the July 4, 1976 Bicentennial celebration at the park. He is the only Governor recorded visiting the area.

With strong community involvement and interest, members of the community formed the Davisville Heritage and History Association, and the school board gave back the school to be used to preserve the heritage and history of the area.

People of all ages gather at Cook's Barn for singing and dancing. Many local citizens showcase their talents here, whether it's humming on the fiddle or bellowing in the microphone. Davisville is known for its appreciation of musical abilities.

The Red Barn on Hwy 97 is a place where friends and family can come together for fun, serious events or just fun for the Cook Family's grandchildren with a skating area. The Cooks host benefits yearly to help someone who has met with some serious need in his or her life. These benefits have helped handicap citizens, cancer victims, and burn victims. The facility is also used for parties, receptions, family and class reunions, etc. Customary barn dances showcase local and family talent. The barn is available for reception rentals if needed.
