Blue Wahoos, Biscuits Suspended By Rain In Montgomery

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos and Montgomery Biscuits saw their Saturday night game suspended due to rain in the sixth inning in a 2-2 tie.
The game will be completed on Sunday at 1:30, with the regularly-scheduled series finale to follow at 3:33.
Pensacola strung together four singles from Victor Mesa Jr., José Devers, Dane Myers and J.D. Orr to take a 2-0 lead against Jacob Lopez in the second inning. Montgomery eventually worked back to a tie against M.D. Johnson, getting an RBI single from Evan Edwards in the second and a game-tying RBI single from Alika Williams in the fifth just before the tarp was pulled on the night.

Milton Slips Past Tate 4-3 (With Gallery)

The Tate Aggies fell just short of a comeback in a 4-3 loss to the Milton Panthers Friday night at Tate.
Milton held a 4-0 lead by the third inning, but the Aggies had three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Kate Balagbagan went for two and a third innings for Tate, giving up eight hits and four runs while striking out one. Jordan Smith went for four and two-thirds in the circle, allowing no hits and no runs while recording no strikeouts and two walks.
Kara Wine was 2-3 at the plate to lead the Aggies. Blakely Campbell, C Vinson, Amber Laird and Peyton Womack added one hit each.
The game closed the regular season for the Lady Aggies as they head into the district playoffs next week.

Ragsdale Homers As Northview Drops Regular Season Finale To Crestview

The Crestview Bulldogs downed Northview 5-1 Friday night in Crestview.
Chloe Ragsdale had a homer for the Chiefs over the center field fence for Northview’s only run as she went 1-4. Jamison Gilman, Emma Gilmore and Makala Golson were all 2-3 at the plate.
Gilman was in the circle for two innings, allowing two hits and two runs while striking out two. Emma Gilmore threw four innings, giving five runs, three hits and striking out four.
The game wrapped up the regular season for the Chiefs (13-11) as they move into the district playoffs next week.

Monteverde Shines Again As Blue Wahoos Win Third Straight

Patrick Monteverde continued his dominant start to the season on Friday night, twirling 7.0 scoreless innings as the Pensacola Blue Wahoos defeated the Montgomery Biscuits 6-0 for their first three-game winning streak of the season.
Monteverde (W, 3-0) has now allowed only one earned run over his first 26.0 innings for a miniscule ERA of 0.35. The Blue Wahoos pitching staff has not allowed a run in 20.0 consecutive frames dating back to the seventh inning of Wednesday’s win.
After a scoreless first three innings, Victor Mesa Jr. got the Blue Wahoos on the board with a three-run homer off Cole Wilcox (L, 0-1) in the top of the fourth. Dane Myers led off the fifth with a triple, and scored on a Nasim Nuñez sacrifice fly to extend the lead to 4-0.
Joe Rizzo blasted a two-run homer in the seventh to close the scoring, and Myers helped preserve the shutout with a strong throw from left field in the bottom of the inning to cut down Ronny Simon attempting to score Montgomery’s first run.
Josan Méndez and Sean Reynolds worked the final two innings out of Pensacola’s bullpen, helping the Blue Wahoos draw to within 2.0 games of the first-place Biscuits.
The Blue Wahoos continue their series against the Biscuits on Saturday evening.

Tate Baseball Presents Annual Awards Named For Former Aggies

Tate High School Baseball has presented three annual awards named for men who have played at Tate and impacted the program and people by showing some combination of moral character, athleticism, excellent work ethic and high academic achievements.
Ethan McAnally received the Travis Fryman Scholarship Award. Brayden Noble received the Chris Moorehead Award, and Drew Reaves received the Trace Penton Award.

Fitterer Dominates In Debut, Johnston Stays Hot In 5-0 Wahoos Win

Evan Fitterer worked 6.0 scoreless, one-hit innings in his Double-A debut and Troy Johnston had a multi-homer game for the second day in a row as the Pensacola Blue Wahoos defeated the Montgomery Biscuits on Thursday by a score of 5-0.
Fitterer (W, 1-0), added to the Blue Wahoos roster on Tuesday, fanned eight batters and coaxed a pair of clutch double plays to keep the Biscuits off the scoreboard. He outdueled Sean Hunley (L, 1-1), who had allowed just one run over his first three starts but came out on the losing end of another strong effort.
Johnston, who hit a pair of home runs and drove in six runs in Wednesday’s blowout win over the Biscuits, hit solo home runs in the second and seventh as part of a 3-for-3 night.
In the ninth, Griffin Conine provided insurance with a bases-loaded, two-run double. Jefry Yan (S, 1) got the final six outs, five via the strikeout, to lock down Pensacola’s second conseucutive win.
The Blue Wahoos continue their series against the Biscuits on Friday evening in Montgomery.

1A Northview Falls To 6A Niceville 4-1; Tate Shuts Out Milton

The 1A Northview Chiefs closed their regular season Wednesday night in Bratt with a 4-1 loss to 6A Niceville 4-1.
Northview took a 1-0 lead in the third before Niceville evened the score in the fourth. After a couple of scoreless innings, Niceville took the lead in the top of the seventh.
Cason Burkett threw six and a third innings for the Chiefs, allowing three runs and six hits while striking out eight. Kaden Odom closed on the mound for Northview, allowing two hits and one run in the final two-thirds of an inning.
Odom, Josh Landis and Trent Knighten both had a hit for Northview.
The Chiefs move into the district tournament next week at the No. 1 seed.

Tate 10, Milton 0
Tate Aggies pitchers Rilee Lowery and Colton Swiers combined to throw a 10-0 shutout of Milton Wednesday night in Santa Rosa County.
Lowery was on the mound for four innings, striking out five while allowing no runs on three hits. Swiers threw one inning in relief with no runs and three strikeouts.
Clifton Quiggins, James Davis, Cade Kelly and Kaleb Posta had two hits each. Frank Randall and Ethan McAnally had one hit each.
Up next, the Aggies move into the district playoffs next week at the No. 3 seed.

Northview Downs W.S. Neal 12-8 (With Gallery)

The Northview Chiefs beat the W.S. Neal Eagles 12-8 Wednesday night in Bratt.
The Chiefs took a commanding lead with a seven-run second inning.
Aubrey Stuckey went for four innings, striking out four while giving up six runs and seven hits. Emma Gilmore was in the circle for three, giving up two runs and four hits while striking out four.
Gilmore went 3-4 to lead Northview at the plate. Kendall Alvarée went 2-3 and Stuckey was 2-4. Jamison Gilman, Mary-Clayton Dawson, Allison Flowers and Makayla Golson added one hit each.
Northview will travel to Crestview Friday to end their regular season before the district tournament begins next week.

Johnston Has Two Homers, Six Runs As Wahoos Beat The Biscuits

Troy Johnston tied a Blue Wahoos franchise record with two homers and six runs batted in as Pensacola defeated the Montgomery Biscuits 9-2 on Wednesday afternoon.
In front of a lively Education Day crowd at Riverwalk Stadium, Johnston teed off for his first two homers of the year – a two-run blast in the third and a three-run shot in the fourth – to accomplish just the third six-RBI game in franchise history, and first since Brandon Dixon achieved the feat in 2016.
Eury Pérez (W, 2-1) took the run support and ran with it, cruising through 6.0 innings of two-hit, one-run ball. The 20-year-old top prospect fanned five, securing the third quality start of his professional career.
Cody Morissette went deep on the heels of Johnston’s third-inning homer, giving the infielder his first Double-A hit and homer in his second game with the Blue Wahoos. That marked the end of the day for Biscuits starter Anthony Molina (L, 0-2), who allowed six runs while recording only six outs.
Joe Rizzo was 3-for-5 with a two-run double to open the scoring in the first before Johnston and Morissette contributed the remainder of the run-scoring hits.
Austin Roberts and Sean Reynolds completed the game for the Pensacola bullpen.
The Blue Wahoos continue their series against the Biscuits on Thursday evening in Montgomery.

Tate Gets Senior Night Shutout Of Escambia

The Tate High Aggies celebrated senior night Tuesday with an 8-0 shutout of Escambia.
Before the game, the Aggies honored seniors Cade Kelly, Ethan McAnally, Frank Randall, Jay Davis, Drew Reaves, Javin Floyd, Rilee Lowery, Michael Sardar, Aidan Byrd, Cam Patrick, Brayden Nobile, Tristin Lynn, and Jamil Sardar.
