Four Tate Seniors Sign With Same Kansas College

Four Tate High School seniors signed their letters of intent Wednesday for full scholarships at the same Kansas school. FWC Hunter Safety Internet Completion Course In Jay

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is offering free hunter safety Internet-completion courses in Jay this month.
Students who have taken the online course and wish to complete the classroom portion must bring the online-completion report with them.
All firearms, ammunition and materials are provided free of charge. Students should bring a pen or pencil and paper. An adult must accompany children younger than 16 at all times.
Anyone born on or after June 1, 1975, must pass an approved hunter safety course and have a hunting license to hunt alone (unsupervised). The FWC course satisfies hunter-safety training requirements for all other states and Canadian provinces.
The course will be be offered February 10 from 6-10 p.m. and February 20 from 7-10 a.m. at the Jay Community Center at 5259 Booker Lane.
Those interested in attending a course can register online and obtain information about future hunter safety classes at MyFWC.com/HunterSafety or by calling the FWC’s regional office in Lake City at (850) 758-0525.
Completion courses will be offered in March in Escambia County, visit MyFWC.com/HunterSafety for more information.
Tate Aggies Win Seminole Wrestling Classic

The Tate High School Aggies won the recent Seminole Wrestling Classic hosted by Florida High in Tallahassee as 10 wrestlers won medals
Jacob Cochran was 3-0 for first place in 106-Pool B and pinned his Suwannee competitor in 2:57 to win the championship. Mathew Blalock was 3-1 in Pool A and pinned Florida High’s wrestler in 2:33 for a third place finish overall.
The Aggie’s Heath Herndon was 4-0 in 170 Pool B. Logan Womack at 152 and Alex Porter at 113 also reached the finals for Tate. Scott Houston (120), Tanner Wood (126), Daniel Pigg (138) and Gaven McAnally (220) each finished in third place for Tate. Brandon Pheabus (132) ended with a fourth place finish.
The Aggie Wrestling Team also too first place in the Baldwin County Dual with six wrestlers placing in the top four.

Northview, Jay Girls Qualify For 1A State Weightlifting Meet

Five Northview and Jay high school girls placed at the Region 1A Weightlifting Meet held recently at Choctaw High School.
From Northview: Audriene Odom placed second, Myisha Syria placed fifth and Breanna Campbell placed fifth in her division. Laurie Purdy also competed. Odom qualified for the 1A state meet to be held Friday, February 5 in Kissimmee.
From Jay High School: Michaela Stewart from Jay High School place first at the regional meet, while Haylee Waston placed third. Both advance to the state finals on February 5.

Ball Registration Info: Cantonment, Century, Molino, NWE

Registration is underway, or beginning soon, at area ballparks:
Cantonment — Registration is underway for baseball and softball at the Cantonment Sportsplex. In-person registration dates will be every Saturday in January and the first two Saturdays in February from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Teams will be available for ages 3-14. The registration fee will be $85. Online registration is available at www.cantonmentbaseball.org/Register. Donations of new and gently-used equipment will be accepted on registration Saturdays. The Sportsplex is located at 681 Well Line Road in Cantonment.
Century — Little League registration will be held Saturday, February 6 from 9-11:30 a.m.; Thursday, February 11 from 5-7 p.m.; Saturday, February 13 from 9-11 a.m.; and Saturday, February 20 from 9-11:30 a.m. at Showalter Park in Century. Registration fee is $50 for the first child, $45 for each additional sibling. Birth certificate needed at registration. Teams available for ages 3 and up. Molino — Molino Ballpark registrations will be held Saturday January 23, January 30 and February 6 from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Don Sutton ballpark. Registration is $60 for the first child, $55 for the second and $50 for the third. Birth certification needed at registration. Ages 3-17. Northwest Escambia – Registration will be Saturday January 30, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m; Friday, February 5, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m and Saturday, February 6, from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Teams will be available for ages 4-18. Registration cost for ages 7 years and older is $100 for first child, $85 for second child and $75 for third child. For 5-6 year olds, (T-Ball), registration cost will be $95 for first child; $80 for second child and $70 for third child. Price includes registration fee, $30 for Jersey and hat and $25 concession stand fee. Payment options are available. Bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate to registration.
