Tate Cheerleaders To Hold Lil’ Aggies Fall Cheer Clinic
September 22, 2016
The Tate High School cheerleaders will be holding a Cheer Clinic for kids age 5-2.
The clinic on October 1 will be held in the new gym from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. Participants will be taught proper stretch techniques, sideline cheers and chants, dances and more. Each athlete will receive a t-shirt and take part in a pre-game cheer and the run-through for the game on October 7.

Cross Country Meet Goes Gold For Childhood Cancer

The Northview Chiefs hosted a three-school cross country meet on Thursday with a focus on not only beating best finish times, but also on beating childhood cancer.
Members of the Northview and Ernest Ward cross country teams wore gold bandanas during the meet in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

UWF Football Suffers First Ever Loss

The UWF football team committed three turnovers in the second quarter that resulted in 14 points for Chowan as the Hawks held on to defeat the Argonauts 35-28 at Garrison Stadium Saturday night.
UWF (2-1) finished with 459 yards of total offense, including 415 through the air, but committed a season-high four turnovers in suffering its first loss in program history.
Graduate Kaleb Nobles completed 29-of-48 for 398 yards and three touchdowns, but was sacked four times and three two interceptions. Redshirt freshman Grey Jackson saw time on two different series, including the second possession of the third quarter when he engineered a six-play, 31-yard drive that tied the game at 28. He was 3-for-4 for 17 with a TD and also rushed for 23 yards.
UWF and Chowan each recorded touchdowns on the first three drives of the game before things settled down offensively. The first strike came on a seven-yard run from CU’s Tyree Lee.
Nobles didn’t waste any time getting those points back, as the Argonauts went 75 yards on just three plays in 31 seconds to even the score at 7-7. The drive was capped off with a 58-yard touchdown pass to senior Anas Hasic. It was the first of three scoring catches for the Phoenix native, who previously played at North Carolina Central, located in Durham just under two hours from Murfreesboro. He finished with nine receptions for 190 yards, the most in a game in the Gulf South Conference this season.
Chowan followed suit on the next drive, as quarterback Randall Dixon dropped in a 29-yard touchdown pass to put the score at 14-7 with 10:50 left on the clock in the first quarter. He finished the game with 449 yards passing on 28-of-44 and two touchdowns.
The Argos drove deep into Chowan territory later in the period but came away empty when an Austin Peffers field goal attempt from 26 yards bounced off the right upright.
UWF did reach the end zone on its next possession. With 3:02 remaining in the quarter, Leroy Taylor intercepted a pass from Dixon in the red zone to start a UWF drive that stretched 84 yards and evened the score on another touchdown connection from Nobles to Hasic – this time from 16 yards.
The 14-14 score did not hold for long, as Chowan took advantage of UWF turnovers on consecutive possessions to put the score at 28-14 at the half.
Nobles threw his first interception of the season that gave Chowan possession at the UWF 15. The Hawks scored after four rushes to go ahead 21-14. Chowan extended the lead to 28-14 on a 73-yard drive that ended with a Tyree Lee 29-yard run with 4:21 left in the half.
In what has become standard UWF fashion, the Argonauts came out of halftime in a full sprint and rallied for 14 unanswered points before many in attendance had returned from the concession stand. Nobles found junior Ishmel Morrow for a 71-yard grab on the third play of the half to cut the score to 28-21. He hauled in a game-high 12 passes to go along with 161 yards.
Just a play into the ensuing Chowan drive, freshman Trent Archie snagged his first interception of the season and the turnover led to seven more UWF points. Jackson led the Argonauts on the drive, adding a 17-yard run before finding Hasic from 14 yards to even the score.
CU took the lead for the final time with 10:50 left in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard pass. UWF moved the ball into Chowan territory briefly on its final possession but was forced to punt and never got the ball back as the Hawks picked up four first downs in the final 3:57.
The UWF defense entered the game averaging 6.5 sacks per game and tallied four while picking off three passes. Sophomore Marvin Conley had 11 tackles and freshman Joshua Smiley finished with 10 to lead the Argonauts.
Chowan (2-1) had 579 yards of offense on 92 plays with 449 passing and 130 rushing.
UWF will open GSC play against Valdosta State next Saturday, September 24, in Valdosta, Ga. The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. ET start.
Tate Aggies Ruin Homecoming For PHS, 45-21

The Tate High School Aggies ruined homecoming for the Pensacola School Tigers Friday night, 45-21.
The Aggies were first on the board with 8:59 to go in the first quarter to take a 7-0 lead on a 1o-yard pass from Jake Henry to Rodriquez Smith, followed by a 4-yard touchdown run from Corey Moorer after an interception. Early the second, Henry added a 94-yard run to put the Aggies up 21-0.
By halftime, the Aggies held a 38-7 lead over the PHS.
With 6:07 go to in the third, the Aggies were up 45-7 and the clock was running. With just over 20 seconds to go in the third, PHS managed a TD, 45-14, and the Tigers scored again with just 43 seconds in the game, 45-21.
Henry finished the night with 224 yards in the air and 166 yards rushing.
The Tate High School Aggies (4-0) will travel to Niceville next Friday night.

Northview Chiefs Cruise Past Chipley 41-6 (With Photo Gallery)

The Northview Chiefs cruised to 41-6 win over Chipley Friday night in Bratt.
Quarterback Luke Ward led the Chiefs with just under 500 yards on the night — 253 yards on the ground and three touchdowns, and 216 yards with two TD’s in the air.

With 10:24 on the clock in the first, Northview’s Neikel Robinson had 70-yard interception return that, coupled with a good point after kick from Seth Killam, gave the Chiefs a 7-0 lead early. Robinson added 137 yards for Northview on six catches before the night was over.
“We started fast, which was key for us,” Northview Head Coach Derek Marshman said. “We had not started fast all season before tonight. It has been an ongoing process, knowing we had to start fast. Finally tonight we got a good first half together and we were able to control the ball for all four quarters.”
The Chiefs scored again with 3:00 in the first on a TD-pass from Ward to Josh Smith, and with less than a minute in the first on a QB-keeper from Ward to end the first up 21-0.
A Rayvon Bush TD for Northview and the lone touchdown of the night for Chipley made it 28-6 at the half.
The Chiefs opened the third with another quarterback keeper from Ward, 34-6. And Ward was in for another with 7:56 to go in the ballgame to make it 41-6 and set a running clock into motion.
Next Friday night, the Chiefs begin a three-week road series of nearly 1,000 miles to Van Cleave, MS, followed by Maplesville, AL, and Liberty County, FL.

Dreams Come True: Honorary Tate Aggie Markus Baxley To Play Football (With Video)

Dreams really do come true in high school football. Just ask Tate High School senior Markus Baxley, who has cerebral palsy.
Baxley has spent four years “on” the Tate Aggies team as an honorary member, but he’s never scored a touchdown, made a tackle or even played a single down. But he embodies that Aggie spirit, and has always provided the support his team needs. Now his team has stepped up to make his dream of playing a reality.
Friday night, October 7, 2016 will be one of the biggest nights of his life. Markus will get to play one play, the play of a lifetime, as the Aggies host the Pace Patriots.
Markus received the news during class Friday at Tate and was presented his official helmet.
“It’s always been my dream to play with people that I have known for a long time,” he said. “And now I get to live my dream for one play. It’s going to be a night that I am going to remember for the rest of my life.”
Markus will also earn his letter in football by taking part in the single play.
Not bad for a young man that doctors said would never walk and never talk.
After a team prayer last Friday night, Markus led his Aggie team across the field and on to a 41-6 homecoming victory, and last Saturday night he attended the homecoming dance with freshman cheerleader Hailey Morphis..
