Tate High’s Shelby Fleming Signs Cheerleading Scholarship With Webber International

Tate High School cheer captain and senior Shelby Fleming signed a full ride scholarship Friday afternoon to cheer for Webber International University.

Fleming plans to study to become an occupational therapist.

T.R. Miller Tops The Northview Lady Chiefs 5-0 (With Photo Gallery)

The T.R. Miller Tigers shut out The Northview Lady Chiefs 5-0 Friday evening in Bratt.

Emma Gilmore threw a complete game for the Lady Chiefs, allowing five hits, five runs and striking out three.

Gilmore went 1-3 at the plate. Katilin Gafford was also 1-3 for Northview with a single in the fourth.

Tate Drops Season Opener 4-2 To Crestview

The Crestview Bulldogs jumped out to an early lead Wednesday night in a 4-2 win over the Tate Aggies in their regular season opener.

Crestview scored two runs in both the first and second innings in a game that saw the Aggies scoreless until the seventh.

Tate’s Jordan Jarman gave up four runs on three hits in four innings while striking out one. Ethan George tossed a couple of innings, giving up one run and striking out five.

In the top of the seventh, Jadon Fryman smacked a homer for the Aggies, going 1-3 with a RBI. Also for Tate: Jackson Penton 2-3, R; Adam Nisewonger 1-3.

In junior varsity action, the Tate JV Aggies defeated Crestview 11-8 on Wednesday.

Undefeated Century Heat Tops Atmore Kings For League Championship

The undefeated Century Heat beat the Atmore Kings 45-12 to claim their league championship.

The Heat jumped out to a 27-2 lead and never looked back as they went on to the win Tuesday night in Atmore. Jakaveon Jackson led the Century Heat with 26 points. LaMarion Mixon had nine points,Caleb Madison six points, and  Christian Madison added four.

Tate High Tennis Opens Season With Win Over Escambia

Tate High boys and girls tennis kicked off their 2020 season with a 7-0 win Tuesday at Escambia High School.

Coach David Bonucchi said it was a good start for a long season ahead.

Their next match is at Pace High School on Thursday.

U.S. Senate Honors National Champion UWF Argos Football Team

The University of West Florida’s national champion football team was recently honored by the U.S. Senate.

Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio submitted the resolution “”Commending the University of West Florida Argonauts football team for its National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II national championship victory”. It passed the senate unanimously.

The Tate Lady Aggies beat Escambia High 5-1 and dropped one to West Florida 1-0 in Thursday preseason softball

Coming off a three-run fourth inning, Christina Mason (pictured) homered for the Tate Lady Aggies Thursday as they beat Escambia 5-1.

Avery Beauchaine tallied no runs on five hits in four innings while striking out five and walking one. Abby Burks tossed three innings in relief, allowing one run on two hits.

At the plate: Hannah Halfacre 3-4, 2R, RBI; Courtney Adams 1-2; Avery Beauchaine 2-3, RBI; Bri Fulmer 1-2, 2RBI; Cristina Mason 1-2, R, RBI; Sophia Jones 1-3, R; Courtney Lundquist R.

West Florida 1, Tate 0

West Florida topped the Tate Lady Aggies Thursday 1-0.

Burks took the loss for the Aggies, going for three innings while allowing one run on two hits and striking out four. Courtney Lundquist pitched one inning, striking out four.

Lundquist and Courtney Adams each had a hit for the Lady Aggies.

The Tate Aggies defeated beat Pensacola Catholic 8-1 Thursday in preseason baseball.

Tate Baseball Opens Preseason With 3-0 Shutout Of West Florida

The Tate Aggies opened their 2020 baseball preseason with a 3-0 shutout of West Florida on Wednesday.

Josiah Glodfelter got the start on the mound for the Aggies, allowing one hit, no runs and striking out six over three innings. Tanner Rochon went for two innings, allowing one hit and striking out one. Grant Gill pitched a single inning, striking out three. Ethan George closed with three strikeouts.

At the plate, Jackson Penton led the Aggies, going 2-3.
