Tate Aggies Beat Gulf Breeze In Important District Game

The Tate Aggies defeated the Gulf Breeze Dolphins 86-79 Tuesday night.

Junior Guard Love Bettis led the scoring for the Aggies with 43 points. With the win, the Aggies improved to 12-5, 4-0 in the district.

Century Little League Registration Underway Now

January 5, 2019

Century Little League registration for 2019 is happening now.

Registration fees are as follows:

  • Now to January 14 – First Child $50; $45 each additional
  • January 15 to 14 February 14: First Child $60; $55 each additional
  • February 15 to March 2: First Child $70; $65 each additional

Register online here, or in person registration dates will be held on the following Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon at the Showalter Park press box:

  • January 19
  • February 9
  • February 16
  • March 2

All fees are due at the time of registration. Credit and debit cards are accepted online. In person registration is cash or check only.

Tate Cheerleaders To Host Lil Aggies Winter Cheer Clinic

The Tate High School Cheerleaders will host the first ever Lil Aggies Winter Cheer Clinic on Friday, January 11 at 4:30 p.m. in the school gym for grades K-8.  Immediately following the clinic, the Lil Aggies will join theTate Varsity Cheerleaders as they cheer on the varsity boys basketball team at 7:30 pm.

The Lil Aggies will cheer the first half of the game, and there will be a special performance at halftime.

Each Lil Aggie cheerleader will receive a face tattoo, pizza before the game, and free entry into the basketball game. The cost of this event is $30. Registration forms and payment are due by Tuesday, January 8. Paperwork and payment can be dropped off at Tate High School or given to any Tate varsity cheerleader.

Registration Begins Jan. 6 For Molino Ballpark Spring Ball

Registration will begin next month for spring ball at the Molino Ballpark.

Registration starts January 5 and will continue every Saturday in January. Registration fees are $70 for the first child, $65 for the second child, $60 for third child if they live in the same household.

The registration deadline is January 26.

Tate, Jay Cheerleaders Earn Bids To National Competition

The Tate High School varsity cheerleaders placed first this recently among small varsity coed teams at the Northwest Florida Universal Cheerleaders Association. They also received a bid to the national competition in Orlando. This was the fifth first place finish of the competitive season for the Aggie varsity cheerleaders.

The Jay High School competition cheer squad also placed second in their small varsity non-tumble division and earned a bid to the national competition in Orlando for the game day routine.

Escambia County High Atmore Names Mason As New Head Football Coach

Scott Mason has been named the new head football coach at Escambia County High School in Atmore.

He replaces Rico Jackson, who has been hired as the new head football coach at Murphy High School in Mobile.

Mason was head football coach and athletic director at Florala High School.  He was worked as the offensive coordinator at Faith Academy, Citronell, Vigor and Saraland high schools. He also worked as head coach at Fruitdale High School.

Mason is married and has one son, Turner Mason. In his spare time he enjoys writing, reading and hunting.

Johnson Sinks Final Shot To Lift Northview To Victory Over Freeport

December 19, 2018

Joseph Johnson sank the final shot of the game as time expired to lift Northview to a 61-59 win over Freeport Tuesday night in Bratt.

Johnson led the Chiefs with 20 points. Also scoring for Northview: Jason Fayard 15, Seth Killam 12, Ray Bush 7, Ben Wilson 5, Quay Thomas 2.

The Chiefs off for Christmas until the Pensacola Catholic Christmas tournament beginning December 27. They will have another shot at Freeport on the road January 22.

GIRLS

Freeport 38, Northview 25

The Northview girls will next take the court January 8 at W.S. Neal.
