Northview Takes Early Lead, Tops Flomaton 7-5

The Northview Chiefs jumped out to a six-run lead in the first inning Monday at Hurricane Park on the way to a 7-5 win over Flomaton.

Josh Landis earned the win for the Chiefs, going four and two-thirds innings while giving up four runs on three hits. Jamarcus Jefferson took the mound in relief, going two and a third innings allowing on run on five hits while striking out four.

Kaden Odom led at the plate for Northview, going 2-3 with a run and an RBI. Landis, Ethan Collier and Trent Knighten also had hits for the Chiefs.

John Miller Steele pitched six innings for the Hurricanes, allowing one run on four hits and striking out five.

Will Smith knocked a homer for Flomaton, while Nicholas Turner and Ray Salazar led with two hits each at the plate. Caleb Silbernagel, Nolan Chavers and Wyatt Kent added one hit each.

Tate’s Strike Out Cancer Softball Game Set For Friday Evening

The Tate High Aggies Softball team’s 12 Annual Strike Out Cancer Game against West Florida High will be played Friday evening.

All proceeds will benefit the local chapter of American Cancer Society

The junior varsity will play at 5 p.m., and the first pitch for varsity is set for 7 p.m. at Charlene Varnell Field at Tate High School.

Admission is donations only. Fish dinners will be available for $12 and gumbo for $6.

Last year, the Strike Out Cancer Game raised over $22,000.

Tate Aggies Win Aggie Classic Championship (With Photo Gallery)

The Tate Aggies won the Aggie Classic Thursday night as they shut out Broken Arrow of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 7-0.

Josiah Glodfelter earned the championship win for Tate. He allowed no hits and no runs while striking out 10 in six innings. Drew Reaves tossed one inning in relief, allowing one hit and striking out three.

Bray Touchstone hit a homer in the first inning for the Tate.

Frankie Randall went 2-3 to lead the Aggies at the plate. Reavers, Touchstone, Madox Land, Clif Quiggins, and Cade Kelley each added an Aggie hit.

Northview, Tate Release Football Schedules. And Yes, The Coaching Brothers Will Face Off.

The Northview Chiefs and the Tate Aggies have announced their 2022 football schedules. And, yes, the coaching brothers will face off.

It’s the first season for Rhett Summerford as the new head football coach for the Aggies. Rhett’s brother Wes is the current head football coach at Northview.

And it will be brother versus brother on September 9 when the Tate Aggies host the Northview Chiefs.

Tate Beats Noble, Oklahoma, In Aggie Classic Play

In the Tate Aggie Classic Wednesday, the Tate High School Aggies defeated Noble, Oklahoma, 8-6.

Earlier at Tate High, Noble defeated Second Baptist of Houston, Texas, 13-5.

Tate High Aggie Classic Rained Out Tuesday; Play Resumes Today

All games in the annual Tate High School Aggie Classic were rained out Tuesday.

The regular schedule will resume Wednesday. The Aggies will take on Nobile, Oklahoma at 7 p.m. at Tate High School.

Tate Opens Aggie Classic Play With 14-1 Win Over Washington High Of Oklahoma

The Tate Aggies beat Booker T. Washington High of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 14-1 Monday night on opening day of the annual Aggie Classic.

Ethan McAnally earning the win for Tate, going three innings while allowing no hits, no runs, walking one and striking out four. Colten Swiers pitched one inning in relief, allowing one run on two hits and striking out one.

Kirk Mosley went 2-2 for Tate, and Clif Quiggins was 2-3 with four RBIs. Javin Floyd, Frankie Randall, Cade Kelly and Jackson Penton had one hit each.

Up next in the Aggie Classic, Tate will take on Battle Ground Academy of Franklin, Tennessee at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tate High School.

Tate Aggies, Four Other High Schools, And Eight Colleges To Play At Blue Wahoos Stadium

Baseball is back by the Bay with 29 collegiate and high school games scheduled at Blue Wahoos Stadium leading up to the start of the minor league season.

Starting with Studer’s Blue Wahoos Challenge from March 15-23 featuring college baseball teams from across the country, fans will have two full weeks of action at the ballpark to experience the stadium’s new turf field and LED lighting before the first Blue Wahoos game on Friday, April 8.

Five local high schools will have an opportunity to play at Blue Wahoos Stadium in a four-game series March 25-28. Tate High and Navarre High will kick off the high school series on Friday, March 25 with a 6 p.m. game. The following day will feature a high school double header with Navarre playing Fort Walton Beach at 4 p.m. and Tate playing Fort Walton Beach at 7 p.m.. The final high school game will pit Escambia High against Gulf Breeze High on Monday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Before the high school games, the annual Studer’s Blue Wahoos Challenge will feature 25 games between eight different college programs with the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the alma mater of Blue Wahoos owner Quint Studer, serving as the primary host of the event. The college showcase will be highlighted by a game between the University of West Florida and UW-Whitewater on Wednesday, March 23 at 6 p.m. and will also feature appearances by the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Carroll University (WI), Rhodes College (TN), Grinnell College (IA), Birmingham Southern College (AL), and Centre College (KY).

Tickets to all March games at Blue Wahoos Stadium are available at BlueWahoos.com with single game and full day passes available.

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos begin their 2022 season on Friday, April 8 as they welcome the Biloxi Shuckers to Blue Wahoos Stadium.

Pensacola Christian College Wins NCCAA DII Women’s Basketball National Championship

The Pensacola Christian College Lady Eagles women’s basketball team secured their first National Championship Saturday with an 85-74 victory over the Arlington Baptist University Patriots of Arlington, Texas. The Division II National Championship of the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) was held in Joplin, Missouri, March 9-12.

The PCC Lady Eagles season record was 23-3.

This National Championship marks the first in Pensacola Christian College women’s basketball program history. The Lady Eagles are led by Head Coach Jared Sellars.

Two Lady Eagles athletes secured a spot on the All-Tournament team: Leah Phelps and Lauran Alvarez. Lauran Alvarez was also named the tournament’s MVP.
