Ruth Ann Attkisson McCormick

Ruth Ann Attkisson McCormick was born March 3, 1936 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.

She graduated from Haylong High School in 1954, and then moved to Nashville andworked for National Life. While in Nashville Ruth met and married her beloved Charles (Chuck) Henry McCormick on May 26, 1957. Together they had one son, Charles Terrance (Terry) McCormick.  Ruth Ann gave 32 years to the Department of Defense as a Supervisory Accounting Tech in the Civil Service. She was a member of Pine Forest UMC where she shared a pew for many years with her best friend Gwen Webb. Throughout her years she enjoyed crafting, sewing, painting, gardening and baking. She enjoyed collecting and especially loved to read books and talk to her
friends.  

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents Ulner Clyde Attkisson and Annie Esterleen Goodwin Attkisson Hill, her siblings, Dorothy Clyde Attkisson Bush, Nathan Hale Attkisson and Robert Earl Attkisson.  

Ruth is survived by her husband of
65 years Charles (Chuck) Henry McCormick, son Charles Terrance (Terry) McCormick (Alicia), two granddaughters, Pamela Ann McCormick Williams (Jason) and Ashley Lynn McCormick, as well as three great grandchildren, McKenzie Ann Williams, Reagan Alice Williams and Nolan McCormick Williams.  

The family would like to thank the staff of the Veranda and Covenant West Florida Care Center for their loving care and support.  You were a blessing.  The funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday October 15, 2022 at Wilde Lake Church formerly Pine Forest UMC, 2800 Wilde Lake Blvd, Pensacola, Florida 32526. Visitation will be prior to services from 10:00-11:00 am.

Mary Gene Conway

Mrs. Mary Gene Conway, age 91, passed away, Monday, October 3, 2022 in Atmore, AL. She resided in Canoe for most of her life where she opened her home as a sitter for many children throughout the years. Mrs. Conway considered them to be part of her family.

Mrs. Conway enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and watching them play sports. She enjoyed watching Alabama Football and the Atlanta Braves. She also loved catching and eating White Perch.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James “John” Conway; her son, Douglas Conway; her

parents, Otis and Jessie Ray; six brothers, Arthor Lee Ray, Johnnie Frank Ray, Marvin Ray, Willis Ray, Sam Ray, Milton Ray, and sister, Lettie Jane (Ray) Childress.

She is survived by her son, James (Mary) Conway, of Molino, FL; two daughters, Wanda Lee, of ColeRain, NC and Linda Conway, of Stockton, AL; thirteen grandchildren, Becky (James) Faberman, Robin Kyzer, Zack (Jessie) Conway, Shannon Riley, AJ DeLancey, Kristy (Jason) Hane, Katelynn (Bruce) Wise, Jason (Beth) Thomas, Amber (Josh) Sheffield, AnnahMarie (Bo) White, Johnathon (Diana) Conway, Ashley (Adam) Edwards, David (Stephanie) Harris, and thirty-five Great Grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Petty-Eastside Chapel funeral Home, LLC. with Rev. William Armstrong officiating.

Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home, LLC.

Pallbearers will be David Harris, Chase Harris, Landon Harris, James Lyles, Bill Faberman, Josh Sheffield, and Deric Kyzer.

Mary Jane Flowers

October 6, 2022

Mary Jane Flowers, Nana to her grandchildren for the last 20 years, passed away on September 30, 2022 at the age of 72. She was born in Travelors Rest, South Carolina to the late Cecil Brown and Dorthea Ard Brown. Mary worked in the insurance business for over 25 years. She was a faithful member of Pace Assembly of God Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Jack McDuffie and Bill Byars.

Mary is survived by her husband of 52 years, James L. Flowers; daughter, Melissa (Jason) Comans; grandchildren, Jay Comans and Joel Comans; sisters, Doris McDuffie and Sarah Byars; and several extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Randall Hamil and Bro. Darrell Eubanks officiating.

The family will receive friends at 10AM prior to services.

Burial will be held at 2PM on Friday, October 7, 2022 in Evergreen Memory Gardens, Panama City, Florida.

Robert Elliott Harvey

Robert Elliott Harvey, long time resident of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at the age of 88. He was born in Westerly, Rhode Island, on September 14, 1934, to James and Alice Harvey. Robert served as a Seaman in the United States Navy and enjoyed a 40 year career as a supervisor at Monsanto/Solutia. He married the love of his life, Marie, on March 10, 1962, and they spent 60 incredible years together. Robert, or simply “Bob” to those who knew him well, had a lifelong love of fishing and found great joy in traveling and golfing with friends and family. He loved his country and his community. He was immensely proud of his military service and delighted in recounting his experiences aboard submarines during the Korean War. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, a teacher, a friend, a rock. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. Robert is preceded in death by his father, James H Harvey; his mother, Alice E Harvey; his brother, James H Harvey Jr.; and his sister, Constance A Engle. He is survived by his wife, Margaret Marie Harvey; his children, Robert Harvey Jr., Kim Cristofoletti, and Ronald Harvey; and his grandchildren, Joshua Harvey, Haley Harvey, Peyton Cristofoletti, and Spencer Cristofoletti. Ann Clark Bingham, age 60, of Florence, SC passed away on September 21, 2022 at herresidence. She was born on December 5, 1961 in Atmore, AL to the late James Tyrell and Eunice Viola Seales Clark.

She is survived by her husband, John William Bingham, II; her son, John (Courtney) Bingham, III; her daughter, Heather Ann Bingham; her granddaughter, Violet Bingham; her brother, Tyrell (Rose) Clark and her sisters: Barbara Rixey, Connie (Gordon) Raines and Carolyn Green.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore, AL. Interment will follow at Dry Springs Cemetery in Pineville, FL.

Victor Anthony “Tony” Hall

Victor Anthony “Tony” Hall of Bay Springs, Florida passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the age of 59.

He was born in Pensacola, Florida on May 15, 1963 to Margaret Coker and Charlie E. Hall.

Tony was married to Karen Jeanene Hall for 27 years. He retired from the local paper mill after many years of service. Tony was caring and giving to all of his family and friends. He was always happy to lend a hand and help anyone in need. It was hard not to smile when you were around him. Tony loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and loved fishing with his friends. He was happiest when he was behind the wheel of his John Deere Tractor. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Margaret Coker Hall and Charlie E. Hall; brothers, Tim and Tracey Hall; and sister Dee Hall.

Tony leaves behind his wife Karen Jeanene Hall; daughter, Kristin Hall; step-daughter, Christa (Willy) Wilson; grandchildren, Jordan Wilson, Grayson James and Cooper Wilson; sister, Donna Hall; very special aunts and uncles, Joe and Annette Bellew and Mary and Robert Hall; irreplaceable friends, Tommy Nall and Tony Hahn; and numerous family members great friends. Tony was a great man who will be sorely missed by many. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Josh Long officiating. Nicole Diane Campbell

Nicole Diane Campbell born December 18,1982 passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 surrounded by family and friends.

Nicole is the daughter of Tina Martin and Cleve Campbell. She was the most kind hearted person. You could always find her taking care of everyone around her and has passed that kind heart along to her daughter, Serenity.

Nicole grew up riding horses. She enjoyed barrel racing on her beloved horse, Coco. She loved the sweet things in life and you could always count on her to have a bag of candy!

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Nevaeh Harvell; father, Cleve Campbell; and grandmothers, Faye Campbell and Charlotta Rhodes.

Nicole is survived by the loves of her life, daughter Serenity Harvell and son, Prestyn Harvell; her partner of 21 years, Damian Harvell; mother, Tina (Jack) Martin; grandparents, Billy (Joyce) Campbell and Dusty (Geraldine) Rhodes; siblings, Kristin (Josh) Harvey, Trey (Alesha) Campbell, Mariah (Russell) McAnally, Cara (Bryan) Coburn, TJ (Cody) Lepley, Caleb (Kelsey) Campbell, Ciara (Codie) Calloway; lifelong friend Amanda Davidson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Nicole will be greatly missed by many, but we are comforted knowing she is rejoicing in Heaven with her Angel baby Nevaeh and all our loved ones who have gone before us.

Arthur Lewis Gottily

September 28, 2022

Arthur Lewis Gottily, longtime resident of Pensacola, Florida passed away on Saturday,

September 24, 2022, in West Florida Hospital at the age of 92. Art was born on October 16, 1929, the only child of Thomas and Frances Beiner Gottily in Manhattan, New York. His paternal grandparents were Sebastiani and Andriana Gottilla from Ventimiglia di Sicily, Italy.

During his early childhood Art lived in Queens, New York and at 13 years of age he resided with his parents at 25 Central Park West in New York City. He attended middle school and graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy in Pine Beach, New Jersey. In 1953, Art earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Philadelphia Textiles Institute now known as Thomas Jefferson University.

Art enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served at Alameda, California. In 1957 Art moved to Pensacola and was employed by Chemstrand/Monsanto for 28 years working in research and design while earning six (6) United States patents. He retired from Monsanto in 1985 at which time he founded Engineering Expertise and became a consultant with Scott Paper Company working in their Mobile, AL plant. He also founded Consolidated Check Dispatching, an innovative preempter of Fed Ex and was a real estate agent for a number of years.

In 1967 Art met the love of his life Sylvia Ann Walker, a nurse who attended him after a surgical procedure. They began dating and were married on October 23,1971. Art shared his love of the outdoors and competition with Sylvia by teaching her to play golf at the Monsanto golf course and to sail at the Pensacola Yacht Club.

Art was the father of three (3) children Karen Gottily Gauvey, Norwood, CO; Tom Gottily, Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Scott Gottilla fou (Courtney) Tucson, AZ. He loved and was extremely proud of his four grandsons Chauncey Gauvey, Anthony Gottilla, Andrew Gottilla and Micah Gottilla, and great grandson Lane Gauvey.

Art was an ardent patriot, often recalling his days at Farragut Military Academy and his time in the US Navy. His interest in government and politics led him to join the Republican Party where he worked tirelessly for conservative principles and candidates. Fox News was his favorite information source. He was a lover of history, especially the exploits of the Flying Tigers of World War II. On a presidential visit to Pensacola, Art met his longtime hero President Ronald Reagan. Art was a member of the John Birch Society. He and Sylvia received recognition for fifty years of membership with Escambia County Republican Party.

Art was also a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church and during the 1960s he served as senior warden of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

Services for Art will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, located at 1000 South Highway 29, Cantonment, FL 32533. A private burial will be at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Ocean Springs, MS on Thursday, October 6, 2022.

The family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors in the West Florida Hospital ICU. Their kindness and care of Art will always be cherished.

Linda Slate Garrick

Linda Slate Garrick, age 79, of Atmore, AL passed away on September 27, 2022 in Atmore, AL. She was born on June 24, 1943 in Jay, FL to Rupert Eugene and Gussie Lou Eddins Jackson. She was a member of Canoe Church and a retired seamstress with Vanity Fair. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ronald H. Slate, Sr.; her son, Ronald H. Slate, II; her baby brother, Anthony Jackson and her sister, Evelyn Sullivan.

She is survived by her children: Tony (Sandra) Slate of Bratt, FL, Tim (Liezel) Slate of Atmore, AL, Rusty (Tracey) Slate of Atmore, AL and Melanie (Thomas) Guy of Atmore, AL; her grandchildren: DeWayne Slate, Casey Little, Natalie Rodgers, Ronnie Slate, III, Magen Weaver, Jarvis Slate, John Wayne Slate and T.J. Jarrell along with twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 30, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore, AL with Bro. Willie Armstrong officiating. Interment will follow in Cora Baptist Church Cemetery in Jay, FL.

Stanley Benjamin Quimby

September 27, 2022

Stanley Benjamin Quimby, age 43, of Atmore, AL passed away on September 26, 2022 in Pensacola, FL. He was born on February 6, 1979 in Atmore, AL to Stanley Buford and Sandra Lovelace Quimby. Ben was a 1997 graduate of
Escambia County High School, and he earned a Bachelor's degree from Auburn University. He was a school teacher for several years, where he was loved by all of his staff and students. He was a member of First United
Methodist Church of Atmore, where he served working in the soundbooth and playing with the Cunningbells, the Handbell Choir. He had a deep love for holidays, especially Christmas. His creativity beamed through homemade gifts, numerous proms and school events, decorating homes and yards, and his witty humor. 

He is survived by his husband, Brett Floyd of Atmore, AL; his siblings: Jon (Heidi) Quimby of Newport News, VA, David Quimby of Atmore, AL, Joey Quimby of Atmore, AL, Matthew Quimby (Ambre Kelly) of Daphne, AL and Kaitlyn Hambrick of Chattanooga, TN along with other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. 

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on October 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Atmore with Rev. Andy Gartman officiating.
