William “Billy” Rollin

Mr. William “Billy” Rollin, 70, passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 in Mobile, Alabama.

Mr. Rollin was a native of Monroe, LA and has resided in Atmore, AL for the past 43 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the owner and operator of Rollin’s Used Cars and was a member of the Atmore First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra Rollin of Atmore, AL; one son, Shane (Memory) Rollin of Atmore, AL; two daughters, Kimberly (Anthony) Habermehl of Foster, KY and Kristi (Jeff) Wooldridge of KY; three brothers, Frank Rollin of Bay Minette, AL, James Rollin of Dallas, TX and Jimmy Rollin of Bay Minette, AL; two sisters, Irene Phelps of Stapleton, AL and Glenda Nelson of Fairhope, AL; seven grandchildren, Josh Brown, Megan Brown, Tommy Anderson, Samantha Anderson, Ashley Anderson, Will Rollin and Colton Rollin and five great grandchildren, Landon

Brown, Jayla Brown, Jayce Sells, Tyler Sells and Talan Daughtry.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6 to 9 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Frank Rollin Jr., Andrew Rollin, Steven Rollin, Jason White, Warren Donald and Jeff Donald.

Otis Gerald Freeman

November 29, 2017

Mr. Otis Gerald Freeman, age 74, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017 in Atmore, Alabama.

Mr. Freeman was native of Pineville, FL and has resided in Canoe, AL for the past 35 years. He was a great daddy to five daughters, grandfather and great grandfather. He worked with Swift Lumber with 20 years of service and was of the Baptist Faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, General and Elaine Freeman and one brother, Gene Freeman.

Survivors include mother’s of his children, Gayle Martin of Atmore, AL and Cindy Singleton Freeman of Brewton, AL; five daughters, Andrea (Billy) Young of Atmore, AL, Suzy (Jeff) Blackburn of Conover, NC, Alanna Clemmons of Atmore, AL, Valorie (Mike) Jones of Troy, AL and Stephanie (Stephen Householder) Freeman of Atmore, AL; two brothers, Gordon (Zena) Freeman of Walnut Hill, FL and Terry Freeman of Pensacola, FL; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 6 to 9 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

William E. Kirby, Jr.

November 29, 2017

William E. Kirby, Jr. 70 of Poarch, AL, passed away November 24, 2017, in Pensacola, FL. He was born in Troy, AL on July 29, 1947, to William Edward, Sr. and Pauline Robinson Kirby.

He is preceded in death by his father, William Edward Kirby, Sr.; two brothers, Jimmy Lee Kirby and Randy Eugene Kirby.

He was a farmer, maintenance supervisor with Freemanville Water Systems, Inc. with over 25 years of service, a captain with the Poarch Creek Volunteer Fire Department and EMT with Atmore Ambulance Service and was a security supervisor with over 10 years of service with Wind Creek Casino. He was also a member of Poarch Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Judith Green Kirby; his mother, Pauline Robinson Kirby; two daughters, Sandi (John) Stanton of Birmingham, AL and Candy (Paul) Fralick of Poarch, AL; one sister, Katherine (Ron) Williams of Semmes, AL; and one brother, Eddie Paine Kirby (Inez) of McCullough, AL; grandson, Kirby W. Jay (Phadra); and great-grandchild, Riley Green Jay.

Funeral services were held Monday, November 27, 2017, at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Brett Chancery officiating.

Burial was in McCullough Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be from the Poarch Creek Fire Department.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Herminio Arabe Javier, Jr.

November 28, 2017

Herminio “Dad/Papa/Bong” Arabe Javier, Jr., born on January 19, 1950 in Binalonan, Pangasinan to Herminio and Genoveva Javier, died peacefully on Saturday, November 25 , 2017. After a rambunctious childhood which included shooting a neighbor’s chicken with a homemade slingshot, he attended the prestigious Mapúa Institute of Technology for Civil Engineering. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he traveled the world, rose to the ranks of Senior Chief Petty Officer, and received 3 Good Conduct Medals, the Battle “E” Ribbon, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Sea Service Ribbon with 3 Stars. While stationed in Japan, he caught the attention of his soon-to- be wife using his incredibly good looks. Together, they raised their three girls and settled in Pensacola, Florida. He worked as a radiology technician and retired in 2016.

He is survived by his wife, Leticia, his sister, Linda and her husband, Adolfo, his daughters, Genie, Christina, and Sarah, three sons-in- law, Edrick, Bert, and Austin, and seven grandkids: Gabe, Dylan, Kira, Alani, Makayla, Camilla, and Liliana.

Herminio was truly a man of God, steadfast in faith, and exceedingly humble. He will be remembered fondly for his abundant sense of humor, generosity, and giant heart. He provided a home filled with warmth, memories, and laughter to his daughters and wife, and is cherished by of all his grandchildren. Throughout his life, he provided his family wise advice including his famous adage, “Good things come to those who stand and wait.” Rest in peace, Papa. We know you are watching over us.

Visitation services will be held at Faith Chapel (100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL 32505) on Friday, December 1 st from 2-4pm, with a rosary service at 1:30pm. We will hold a funeral mass for him on Saturday, December 2 nd from 11:30am to 12:30pm at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church located at 10650 Gulf Beach Hwy, Pensacola, FL 32507. From the mass, we will lay him to rest at the Holy Cross Cemetery (1300 E Hayes St, Pensacola, FL 32503).

George Stanford Purvis

George Stanford Purvis, 82, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was an avid fisherman, retired iron worker and an amazing dad who loved his family and grandchildren very much.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Evie Purvis; infant daughter Joan Carol; Brothers Ray and Melvin Purvis; Sister Hazel Fillingim and Foster brother Jake Nims.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Katherine Purvis; son’s George (Mary) Purvis, James (Sherri) Purvis and Brian (Tonya) Purvis; daughter Elizabeth Townley; grandsons Randall Purvis, Jared Townley and Joshua Baum; granddaughters Julianne Purvis, Samantha (Brandy) Wallace, Shelby Williams and Sara Baum; great grandkids Caleb Black and Julianna Grimes; sisters Gladys (Ronald) Davis, Joyce (William) Peterson, Rachel Kelley and Jane Harpe; brother Jimmy Purvis and sister-in-law Bernice Purvis.

Visitation will be Tuesday November 28 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with the funeral service beginning at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Jordan cemetery.

Carman Sue Walker Smith

November 28, 2017

Carman Sue Walker Smith, 76, of Pensacola passed away Friday November 24, 2017.

Mrs. Smith was born in Byrneville, FL and resided in the Pensacola area most of her life. She taught at Pine Forest High School for 23 years.

Preceding Mrs. Smith in death are her husband of 56 years, James B. Smith, and her parents, Joe Caphas Walker and Rosa Carmen Walker.

Survivors include her two sons, Randall Smith (Regina) and David Smith (Denise); five grandchildren, Patricia Shadle (Kurt), Christopher Smith, Sarah Smith, Jessica Smith and Jami Smith; and one step-
grandson, Cameron Spivey.

Visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, November 30, 2017 beginning at 10 AM. The service will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery at 2 PM.

The family wished to express their heart felt ‘Thank You’ to the staff at Sacred Heart Hospital that treated her and cared for the family.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Manna Food Bank 3030 N E St, Pensacola, FL 32501.

Cynthia “Cindy” B. McLamb

November 24, 2017

Cynthia “Cindy” B. McLamb, 57 formerly of Flomaton, AL passed away November 22, 2017. She was born in Brewton, AL to Douglas and Patricia Bagwell. She lived in the Pensacola area for 35 years and retired from the Escambia County School District after 14 years of service.
Cindy was a member of Perdido Bay Baptist Church where she was very involved in church activities. She was also a member of the Avondale Homemakers. Cindy’s favorite pastime was spent working in her garden tending to her flowers.

Cindy is preceded in death by her father, Douglas Bagwell. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 30 years, Barry; mother, Patricia Bagwell; sons, Robby McLamb (Amber), Joshua McLamb; brothers, Jeff Bagwell (Michelle), Steve Bagwell (Tammy), Randy Bagwell (Becky), James Bagwell; sister-in-law, Belinda McLamb; brothers-in-law, Tony McLamb (Karen), Michael McLamb (Linda); grandchild, Wesley; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 6-8pm Monday, November 27, 2017 at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral service will take place 11:00 am at Pensacola Memorial Gardens Funeral Home Tuesday, November 28, 2017 with Dr. Lonnie Hughes officiating.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Covenant Hospice Sacred Heart, Dr. James Watkins and staff of the Sacred Heart Cancer Center, and to the many friends and family who spent countless hours with her. Their love and care will not be forgotten.

William Harold Allen

November 23, 2017

William Harold Allen, age 72, passed away at his home in Atmore, Alabama on November 20, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born on March 2, 1945 to Grady C (Doc) Allen and Gladys E (Woods) Allen in Atmore, Alabama. He was a lifelong resident of Atmore, Alabama and in 1972 opened a small mobile home dealership on the north side of town. He expanded this to include 4 different locations in South Alabama. Harold Allen Mobile Homes became a household name and chances are if you or someone you knew lived in a manufactured home, it probably was purchased on one of his lots. He was always proud of his business and the hard work put forth by his employees. In 1996, he sold almost 800 houses and employed more than 30 people. His children followed in his footsteps and all entered the manufactured home industry. He was a pillar of the community and was constantly helping those in need. His family was always his top priority and he loved spending time with them. He was an animal lover till the end and loved having his “fur babies” close by.

He is survived by his loving wife of twenty years, Janet Katherine (Styron) Allen, two sons William Marcus Allen (Amalia) of Knoxville, TN, Ethan Harold Allen (Paula) of Atmore, Alabama, one daughter Victoria Ann Allen Black (Josh) of Atmore, Alabama, two step-sons, Brandon Sells (Melissa) Atmore, Alabama, Jacob Sells of Atmore, Alabama, one step-daughter, Janet Welch of Atmore, Alabama, three half-sisters, Marie James of Mobile, Alabama, Louise Harrell of Mobile, Alabama, Linda Wingyard of Jackson, Alabama, two half-brothers, Steve Petrantis of Mobile, Alabama, Mike Burns of Mobile, Alabama, 22 grand- children, 13 great grand- children, a large extended family and countless friends.

The wake will be Friday, November 24, 2017 from 5:00 till 8:00 at Johnson- Quimby funeral home, with family visitation beginning at 4:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 am at Johnson-Quimby Funeral home with burial immediately following at Mothershed Cemetery.

Mr. Leon Taylor, 74, passed away Tuesday, November 21, 2017 in Atmore, Alabama.

Mr. Taylor was a native of Mexia, AL, was a resident of Atmore and Greenville, AL since 1958 and has resided in Atmore, AL for the past 13 years. He retired from Southern Sand & Gravel in Greenville, AL as an equipment operator and was the Co Owner of the Anchor Café. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed & Hattie Taylor; three brothers, Jimmy Ray Taylor, Roy Taylor and Ricky Taylor and one sister, Nan Taylor Nelson.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Moye Taylor of Atmore, AL; two daughters, Rebecca (B.J.) Hopper of Atmore, AL and Frances (Floyd) Burkett of Atmore, AL; one step-son, Arnold Jarrell of Damascus, AL; five brothers, Larry (Barbara) Taylor of Dayton, TX, Dwaine (Betty) Taylor of Fulton, MS, James Taylor of Atmore, AL, Richard (Renee) Taylor of Atmore, AL and Terry (Mary Lynn) Taylor of Hearne, TX; four sisters, Margaret (Bert) Colbert of Uriah, AL, Debbie King of Bay Minette, AL, Elizabeth (Jim) Chandler of Daphne, AL and Delila (Henry) Haire of Jay, FL; four grandchildren, Amy, Ginger, Daniel and Tyler; six great grandchildren, Hannah, Ainsley, Zoey, Zack, Zaylee and Josh and numerous nieces and nephews.
