Daizee Brooke Angus

Daizee Brooke Angus, 19, of Flomaton, Alabama, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2017.

Daizee was born in Louisville, Colorado, and had resided in the Flomaton area for the past seven years.

She was a Senior at Flomaton High School and was employed at McDonalds in Flomaton.

Daizee is survived by her parents: Karmen and Jonathan Cotton of Flomaton, Alabama and Brian Angus of Utah; her sisters, Zoey Angus and Kayley Cotton; her grandparents, John and Gail Cotton; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins by the dozens, and friends who loved her deeply.

Daizee will be missed by so many that loved her dearly.

Funeral Services for Daizee will be held at 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, December 31, 2017, at the West Milton Church of Christ, with Pastor Al Bethea officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until time of services at the Church.

Burial will follow in the Serenity Gardens Cemetery with Lewis Funeral Home, Milton Chapel, directing.

Daisy McGhee Long

Daisy McGhee Long, 86, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2017 in Molino, Florida.

Mrs. Long was a native of Huxford, AL, former resident of Pensacola, FL and has resided in Molino, FL for the past 10 ½ years. She was a past employee of Florida National Bank, Accounting Supervisor with Northwest Florida Blood Bank and retired accounting supervisor with the Pensacola Naval Hospital. She was a member of Central Chapel Church. She is preceded in death by her husbands, James W. “J.W.” Long and Louis Ray Sims and a son, Dale Sims.

She is survived by one son, Winfred (Charlotte) Sims of Molino, FL; one daughter, Patsy F. (Robert) Carter of Panama City, FL; two step-sons, Wayne (Caroline) Long of Christian Home, FL and James R. “Ronnie” Long of Pensacola, FL; one brother, James A. McGhee of Seminole, AL; two sisters, Eunice Pierce of Beulah, FL and Eloise Stewart of Rabun, AL; thirteen grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Eloise Stewart officiating.

Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 26, 2017 from 6 to 9 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jason Sims, Chad Sims, Rob Carter, Jeff Carter, Michael Sims, Jordan Carter, Zachary Sims and Taylor Sims.

Donnie Lewis

December 23, 2017

Donnie Lewis, 84, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2017.

In 1954, he married the love of his life, Corine Johnson and relocated from South Carolina to Florida in 1959. He started life as a farmer but changed his profession to auto mechanic. He was a line mechanic for several auto dealerships in Pensacola. Late in his career, he worked for the auto shop for the local naval bases in Pensacola. Donnie loved the outdoors and all kinds of animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed being around family and friends. They would often gather together to hear his jokes and stories of the past.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Corine Johnson Lewis; parents, Thurman and Dalma Lewis; great-granddaughter, Addison Faith White; four brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his son, Rickey (Vickie) Lewis; granddaughter, Melissa Nicole White; grandsons, Nicholas Ryan and Christopher Cory Lewis; sisters, Shelby Lewis Porter and Earlene Lewis Flowers; and five great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers are Nicholas Ryan Lewis, Christopher Cory Lewis, Chad White and Timothy Lewis.

Services were held Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Interment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.

Betty J. Walker

December 21, 2017

Betty J. Walker, 69 of Atmore, AL, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Fairhope, AL. She was a seamstress with Vanity Fair Mills. She was born on May 21, 1948, to Edwin F. and Nioma Taylor Terry in Atmore, AL. She was a member of Atmore Baptist Temple.

She is preceded in death by her father, Edwin F. Terry; step-dad, J. B. Stewart; and a sister, Lillian Conway.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Walker; mother Nioma Stewart; two sons, Denny Garvin, and Bill (Casey) Walker all of Atmore, AL; two brothers, Bobby Hommel of Oregon and Michael Hommel of Wisconsin; four sisters, Martha Colbert of Uriah, AL, Karen (Eugene) Rackard of Chipley, FL, Melanie (Chris) Rolin and Dell Harrison, both of Atmore, AL; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday December 23, 2017, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Doug Odom officiating.

Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers are Cody Garvin, Frankie Fails, Freddie Fails, Jamie Black, Jonathan Rackard, Noah Lee, Ben Lee and Bubba Rolin.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Gloria F. Mayne

December 20, 2017

Gloria F. Mayne was born in Atmore, Alabama but had lived most of her adult life in Pensacola, Florida where she passed away at the age of 81. She was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. She was a godly woman that loved life. Gloria was a member of West Florida Genealogical Society and the American Legion. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. She also loved working on her genealogy projects and gardening. She had a green thumb when it came to growing her flowers. Gloria had a great sense of humor and loved to joke around with everyone.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Lewis John Mayne, Sr.; father, Lawrence Jasper Fowler; mother, Ruby Mae Baker Fowler; and sister, Penny Fowler.

Gloria is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Gayle and Clifton Boothe of Pensacola, Florida; son and daughter-in-law, John and Donna Mayne of Cantonment, Florida; four grandchildren, Amanda and Curtis Suggs of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Brian and Kelly Boothe of Manvel, Texas, Brandon and Haley Mayne of Pace, Florida and Ashton Mayne of Mobile, Alabama; two great grandchildren, Addison Boothe of Manuel, Texas and Benjamin Mayne of Pace, Florida; three brothers, Willie Fowler of Atmore, Alabama, Cecil and Mona Fowler of Pensacola, Florida and Jack and Faye Fowler of Barrineau Park, Florida; two sisters, Jene Hatcher of Molino, Florida and Tina and Wayne Butts of Saint James, Missouri; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Pastor Tim Payne officiating. Burial will follow services in Union Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to services.

Mrs. Faye Victor, 59, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017, in Milton.

Mrs. Victor was a native and life long resident of Christian Home, Florida. She was a member of the Byrneville Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, Karl & Sarah Victor and two sisters, Alice Merchant and Kathy Hall.

She is survived by one son, Tim (Veronica) Victor of Christian Home, FL; one daughter, Tiffany (Michael) Segers of Christian Home, FL; four brothers, Phillip Victor of Christian Home, FL, Johnny Victor of Flomaton, AL, Jimmy Victor of Atmore, AL and Donnie (Sandra) Victor of Wawbeek, AL; one sister, Janie (Billy Jack) Criswell of Christian Home, FL and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, December 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Hawkins officiating.

Burial will follow at the Christian Home Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 6 to 9 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Mercedes Lising Strickland

Mercedes Lising Strickland has gone home to her Heavenly Father. She passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 in her home leaving behind her children, Dorothy Fisher, Anthony Strickland, and Liza Strickland-Copeland. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Steve Fisher, Lisa Thompson, and Ashleigh Quinn, as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Kayla Fisher, Kyle Fisher, Evan Fisher, Jacob Thompson, Amanda Thompson, Allyson Thompson, Ayden Quinn, Anzleigh Quinn, and Presley Quinn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso Lising and Amanda Sagmit-Lising, and her siblings, Amelia Lising, Roquinio, Constancio Lising, Antonias Lising, Samson Lising. Her living siblings are
Sisenando Lising, Rosalia Lising Dela Cruz, Potenciana Lising Dela Cruz, and Lolita Lising Pereyra.

Mercedes lived in Pensacola for 39 years, and is remembered for her delicious Philippine cuisine, her work with the Red Cross for 20 years, and always tried to help those in need. She will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North beginning at 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service to begin at 1:00 p.m. Brother Schoonover will be officiating.

Charlie Howard Sutton

December 16, 2017

Charlie Howard Sutton, age 91, of Molino, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Saturday, December 16, 2017.

He was born July 10, 1926 in Clio, Alabama to the late Ezra and Mattie Sutton.

Charlie graduated from Pensacola Adult High School in 1965, he worked for Noonan Construction Company for 27 years, went on to work 12 years for Chadbourne Construction Company, ultimately retiring as Superintendant of Construction in 1990. He was one of the first ever Certified Concrete Specialists, a skill that called him to work on airports and roadways across the southeast.

Charlie was a proud member of Highland Baptist Church for 65 years, where he taught 12 year-old boys Sunday school and served many terms on the board of deacons. A favorite scripture of his was Ephesians 5:15-16 “Be very careful then how you live, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.” He also served on the Molino Water Board and the Molino Volunteer Fire Department. In his limited down time and into his retirement Charlie enjoyed working in his yard, tending to the catfish pond he cultivated against the odds, gardening and fishing. His most prized accomplishment is his devoted family.

Charlie was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Lillian McKnight Sutton and his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children Donald H. (Mary) Sutton of El Rancho Mirage, Ca., Ron (Margie) Sutton of Troy, Al. and Glenda Sutton Herring; grandchildren Daron (Carol) Sutton of Scottsdale, Az., Staci (Tim) Bina of Laguna Beach, Ca., Nathan (Lauren) Herring of Rochester, NY., Debbie (Mark) Wells of Helena, Al., Tammi (Brent) Watson of Anthem, Az., and Jackie Sutton; a heavenly host of 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Visitation will be Monday, December 18, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service begins at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Baptist Church, 6240 County Highway 95A, Molino Fl. 32577. Interment will follow at Highland Baptist Church Cemetery in Molino, Fl. Rev. Brian Calhoun will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Robert Kennedy, Donnie Nicholson, Jason Chaney, Tyler Barry, Doug Gardener and Jackie McCaskill. Honorary Pallbearers are Charles Purvis, Harold Holder, Charles Barton, Jack Hodge, Duke Carraway, Bob Miller and Wayne Blackmon.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Charlie’s name to the Lillian Sutton Library at Highland Baptist Church, or to the Highland Baptist Church Cemetery fund.

Sally Foster

Mrs. Sally Foster, age 86, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 in Atmore, Alabama.

Mrs. Foster was native of Bay Minette, Alabama and resided in Atmore, Alabama.

Survivors include her nephew, Roy (Billie) Foster; special friend, Kelly White Downey and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held Friday, December 15, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Lottie Methodist Cemetery will Bro. Angelo Thomley officiating.

Thomas Aubrey Pugh, Sr.

Mr. Thomas Aubrey Pugh, Sr., age 89, passed away on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Century Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Pugh was born in Jay, FL and had been a resident of the Brewton area since 1964, coming from Mobile, AL. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He worked as a millwright at the paper mill for a number of years. He was a member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. Mr. Pugh was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Barbara Louise Meadows Pugh.

He is survived by a son, Thomas Aubrey (Marcia) Pugh of Elkton, FL; a daughter, Barbara Faye (Frank) Barnes of Brewton, AL; a step-daughter, Deborah Ann (Keith) McClammy of Robertsdale, AL; a brother, Calvin Pugh of Pensacola, FL; two sisters, Betty Lou Hammons, and Edna Faye Rowell, both of Mobile, AL; seven grandchildren, Melanie McClammy, Jennifer Blackwell, Kinny Pugh, Brad Blackwell, Kelli King, Bobby Cannon, and Ben Pugh; five great-grandchildren, Braden Blackwell, Brody Blackwell, K.K. King, Grace King, and Noell King.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 15, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. from the chapel of Craver’s Funeral Home with Rev. Virginia Beckham officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Jay, FL.

Visitation will be held at Craver’s Funeral Home on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.

Pallbearers: Nick Bell, Brad Blackwell, Kinny Pugh, Bernard Blackwell, Frank Barnes, and Frank Reid.
