Kay Lea Pray

January 4, 2018

Kay Lea Pray, 62, passed away unexpectedly December 24, 2017, at Sacred Heart Hospital. Kay was born December 1, 1955, in Bloomington, Indiana.

Kay is preceded in death by her parents, David Lewis Young and Vivian Delores Young; infant son, Gregory Samuel Pray; and brother, David Earl Young (Robin).

Kay is survived by her son, Mark Pray; daughter, Angela Ransburgh and husband Russ; daughter-in- law, Beth Spalding; brothers, Paul Norman Young and George Edward Young; grandchildren, Kayla Bennett, Kyle Bennett, Rachelle Ransburgh, and Khloe Ransburgh; and numerous relatives and friends. She is also survived by her beloved dog, Duke.

Kay was a loving family member and friend. She will be dearly missed. Her smile and laughter will be missed by all who knew her. Her personality filled every room she entered.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Bill Flannigan officiating.

Gary Alan George

January 4, 2018

Gary was born on February 10, 1949, in Washington, MO to Alphy Pies George and Littie Mildred (Bull) George. He moved to Pensacola, FL with his family and attended Escambia County public schools. He graduated from Tate High School in 1967. He enlisted in the United States Marines in November 1968. He served in Vietnam receiving three service medals and also earned a good conduct medal. He was then transferred to the Marine Corps Reserves where he completed his Marine obligations and was given an honorable discharge. In civilian life he was primarily self-employed as a roofer on commercial buildings. He was an accomplished bull rider and enjoyed the shooting sports.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Pies and Mildred George; a sister, Darlene Strickland; nephew, Gordon Strickland; and niece, Tami Lynn Tosie.

He is survived by his brother, Donald George (Blanche); sister, Farajean Tosie {Ted); and nephews, Bruce George (Debra), Charles George (Karen), Lex Strickland, Dennis Strickland, Mark Strickland, Terry Tosie (Karen), Forrest Tosie (Patricia), Tim Tosie (Karen), and Patrick Tosie; and niece, Toni Lee Hilderbrand (Keith).

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your chosen charity.

Pallbearers will be Bruce George, Charles George, Terry Tosie, Tim Tosie, Patrick Tosie and Dennis Strickland.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph George, Alex George and Carl Culbertson.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North beginning at 11 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. Donald George will be officiating.

Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.

John Carroll

January 4, 2018

John Carroll, Jr., 87, of Pensacola, FL, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2018. He retired from Monsanto textile industry. He enjoyed collecting and rebuilding violins. John had bee hives throughout the years and liked to fish and eat mullet. John will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather. He was the “Rock” of the family.

He is preceded in death by his three sons, John Carroll, III, Johnny Carroll and Jim Carroll; and two sisters, Doris and Kaki.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Patsy M. Carroll; two daughters, Linda Kelly and Ann Simmons (Merv); daughter-in- law, Teena Carroll; six grandchildren, Ginger Lee (Scott), Heather Gonzalez (Steve), J.B. Owens, Kristyn McCauley (Chad) and Kaitlyn Carroll; nine great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Bentley, Lola, Bailey, Hunter, Bella, Aiden and Evelyn; one great-great-granddaughter, Bree; and one sister, Mildred Johns.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018, at Whitmire Cemetery at 12 p.m. with Reverend Fred Stallworth officiating.

Bobby Paul Morrison

Bobby Paul “Big Man” Morrison, 55, of Frisco City, AL, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018, in Monroeville, Al. He was a truck driver. He was born on February 26, 1962, in Atmore, AL to the late Waymon and Betty Mae Pearson Morrison.

He was a member of Crosspoint Church, an avid mule skinner and enjoyed working around his farm.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Donald Morrison, Dottie White, W.D. Morrison, and Jean Stewart.

Survivors include his wife, Genie Womack Morrison of Frisco City, AL; one son, Waymon Paul (Dana Marcv) Morrison of Frisco City , AL; three brothers, John Morrison of Mobile, AL, Pete (June) Morrison and Bud (Carolyn) Morrison all of Bastrop, LA; three sisters, Shirley (Johnny) Guyton of Atmore, AL, Susie Barbarpw of Perdido, AL, Mary Jackie Barnhill of Mobile, AL; and two grandchildren, Waylon Morrison and Gracie Morrison.

Services will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 1 p.m. from Crosspoint Church with Pastor J.T. Guyton officiating.

Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Family will receive friends, Saturday January 6, 2018, at Crosspoint Church from 10 a.m. until service time.

Jamison “Jamie” Eugene Janes

January 3, 2018

Jamison “Jamie” Eugene Janes, age 42, of Pensacola, went to be with the Lord after a long courageous battle with Acute Leukemia, on Friday December 29, 2017.

He was surrounded by friends and family.

Jamie served and protected the Pensacola community for two decades with the Pensacola Police Department and the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. He was a brave and decorated Sergeant upon his death. Jamie was a loving, caring and dedicated husband and father. He made eternal impacts on many lives. His spirit will live on and continue to make lasting impressions within the community and his family. Jamie was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Frank Cotton; and grandparents Eugene and Frankie Lou Cotton and Bernice Mancil.

Those left to cherish his memory are his cherished wife Dawn; his son Grayson; father James (Mary) Janes of Tennessee; sisters Carey (Tony) Gribble, Cassey (Rick) Mills of Oregon and Carla Janes of Michigan; niece Gabriella Gribble; and a host of extended family, work family and friends.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 04, 2018, until the service begins at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Bro. Craig Hindsman will officiate. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Pensacola.

Pallbearers will be the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office and Pensacola Police Honor Guards. Honorary Pallbearers are Tony Gribble, Ray Scruggs, Josh Goodwin, Tom Greer, Scott Allday and Vince Odenbrett.

Charles Eric “Goat” Gohagan

January 2, 2018

Mr. Charles Eric “Goat” Gohagan, 44, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Valley Grove, West Virginia.

Mr. Gohagan was born in Mobile, Alabama, resident of Atmore, AL most of his life and resided in Flomaton, AL. Eric was a devoted and loving husband to Teresa and father to Haley and Codey. He held great admiration and love for his mother Regina and had a heart full of love for all of his siblings, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, mother in law and father in law. He was a welder by trade working mainly in the offshore oilfields, gas and pipeline industry where he formed and maintained some lifelong friendships. He was a hard worker devoted to providing for his family. He enjoyed the simple things in life like bass fishing, good food, particularly a good steak and a day of rest. He had an infectious smile with eyes that twinkled, which you couldn’t miss. He was good man and he was so loved. He was raised in the Bethel Methodist Church of Atmore and was a member of the Poplar Dell Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Alfred “Buck” Gohagan, Sr. and brother, Michael Gohagan.

He is survived by his mother, Regina Gohagan of Robinsonville, AL; wife, Teresa Gohagan of Flomaton, AL; one son, Robert Codey Hadley of Flomaton, AL; one daughter, Haley Danielle Hadley of Flomaton, AL; one brother, Lawrence Alfred “Larry” (Kambi) Gohagan, Jr. of Atmore, AL; three sisters, Kay Gohagan (Joe Frank) Wooten of Century, FL, Emily Gohagan (Jeff) DeRidder of Brewton, AL and Kristen Gohagan Branch of Atmore, AL; mother & father-in-law, Judson & Delores Carden of Flomaton, AL and numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends, including an extended pipe line family.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Mitch Herring and Rev. Waylan Stuckey officiating.

Burial will follow at the Poplar Dell Baptist Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 4, 2018 from 6 to 8 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Donald Eugene Davis

January 2, 2018

Donald Eugene Davis, 85 years old, of Davisville, Fl., died Saturday, December 30 at his home.

Mr. Davis was born January 16, 1932 to Ammon and Pearl Davis of Davisville. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and avid fan of the Blue Angels. For many years he delivered buses from High Point, N.C. to Mississippi, Mobile, and Atmore. He will also be remembered for driving the Van for the Senior Citizens in Davisville.

Mr. Davis was a member of First Baptist Church, Bratt, Fl.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Lillian (Bill) Barclay; Ruby (James) Ziglar; Evelyn (Milton) Armstrong; and one brother, Dalton (Amelia) Davis.

He is survived by five nieces: Winifred Hollingsworth (Martin), Davisville, Fl.; Frances Cain, Pensacola, Fl.; Tina Davis, Jacksonville, Fl.; Sharon (Sue) Davis, Huntsville, Al.; Barbara Jo Davis, Texas; and four nephews: Dwight Ziglar (Arleen), Columbus, Ohio; Larry Davis (Ann), Atmore, Al.; Terry (Joe) Davis (Beth), Conroy, Tx.; Jerry (Bubba) Davis (Barbara), Huntsville, Al., and a special cousin, Henry Davis, Perry, Fl. and many friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 10:30 – 11:30 at First Baptist Church, Bratt, Fl. (Family viewing from 10:00 – 10:30). Funeral service will follow at 11:30 A.M. with Culleys Funeral Home directing. Reverends Jesse Wood, Tim Hawsey, and Delbert Redditt officiating. Burial will be at Serenity Gardens in Atmore.

Elmer Martell Bryant

January 2, 2018

Elmer Martell Bryant of Atmore, AL. son of Gracie Lee and Samuel Thomas Bryant peacefully departed our earthly world Thursday, December 29, 2017.

He leaves behind two sisters Faye Sasser and Ernestine Fields his loving daughters Mona Bryant, Donna Bryant, five grandchildren Matt White, Gid White, Chelsea White, Channing Green, Trey Mancil and a loving Companion Irene Hicks.

Service will be held at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at 2 PM.

Myrtle-Lee “Myrt” Young

Myrtle-Lee “Myrt” Young of Molino, Florida went to be with her Lord December 27, 2017. Myrt’s departure from this earth has broken the hearts of all who knew and loved her forever. Myrt was born April 16, 1933 in Fairbanks Florida. She resided in California for several years before coming back to Florida. Where she met and married her husband. As a military spouse she traveled to and lived in Okinawa Japan for three years and Hawaii for three years. Finally settling in Molino Florida to enjoy the quiet beauty of nature around her home. She truly loved her family and friends, and enjoyed spending time and traveling with them. As an avid tourist, Myrt traveled throughout the continent, US as well as Alaska.

In her own kitchen, Myrt was exceptionally talented. She loved to try new recipes which always were very tasty and appeared exactly like the pictures from her huge volume of cookbooks.

Myrt was an exceptionally talented lady who excelled in every task undertaken. She was employed in several occupations including interior decorating, health care and customer service. At the age of 52, Myrt went back to school and completed her degree in Registered Nursing. Myrt began her RN career as a Facility Nurse for the state of Florida HRS Pensacola Boys Base. She then advanced to Director of Nursing Choctaw Valley Home Health Century, Florida, followed by Director of Nursing/Patient Care Coordinator Mercy Medical Hospice Flomaton, Alabama. She also became Administrator for Mederi Home Health Pensacola, Florida and Manager of the Joyce Goldenberg Hospice Residence and Inpatient Facility Pensacola, Florida. Myrt retired from Nursing after years as RN Supervisor ACTS Retirement Life Communities Inc. Pensacola1 Florida.

Myrt was preceded in death by her parents Robert Lee and Alma Smith. Her siblings Thomas (Buddy) Smith, Henry Sapp, Irene Yetto, Elizabeth Smith and Jane Fox.
She is survived by her husband Ronald K. Young; two sons Wesley Morgan Howle and Michael Lee Howle (Tammy}; four grandchildren Nick Howle, Matthew Howle, Lisa Laurence (Scott) and Melissa Howle; three great grandchildren Avery Howle, Rachel Howle and Sebastian Howle.

Visitation will be held Monday, January 8, 2018 beginning at 9:00 am with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Chaplain Jim Dietz officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National cemetery.

Teresa O’Connor Davidson

January 2, 2018

Teresa O’Connor Davidson, age 60, of Milton, was called home Thursday, January 25, 2018.

She was born  March 11, 1957, in Bay Minette, AL, to the late Alfred and Evelyn Maxine O’Connor.

Teresa was a proud part of the Cantonment community for most of her life, taking pride in her children’s involvement with the “Cantonment Cowboys.”  She was a long time employee of the Oriental House restaurant and volunteered with the Emerald Coast Honor Flights 1 & 2.  Teresa was an avid Alabama football and Alan Jackson fan, although her favorite color was purple.  She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and caretaker to her constant canine companions Christmas, Jethro and Charlie.  As well as a host of houseplants she loved.

Teresa was preceded in death by her parents;  her brother Charles Eugene O’Connor ; and a host of cherished pets.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband William “Bill” Davidson; her children Ruben Caro (Angie) and Latisha Burkett (fiancé Kevin); Grandchildren Brianna, Justin, Demeire, Kayleigh, Madison and Ian; great-grandson Camden, eightsiblings; step-mother Juanita O’Connnor; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 31, 2018, from 1:00PM until the funeral service begins at 2:00PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.  Interment will follow at Clear Springs UMC, Cemetery in Clear Springs, AL.  Pastor Chuck Granat will officiate.
