Charlene P. Gilliam

Charlene grew up in Tennessee one of 10 children. Along with her parents and siblings she worked hard picking cotton, tobacco and other crops. She helped her mother Ella Mae with her younger siblings. Charlene always put family first. She would do anything to help family or friends. Loyal, strong, loving, stubborn, generous, patient, wise–Charlene was all those and so much more.

Her children were her life. She raised them mostly by herself. When times were hard, she made sure her three babies always had food, clothes and anything they needed. She made sure they knew she loved them.

Archie Lee Miller, Jr.

April 28, 2018

Archie Lee Miller Jr, born October 28, 1936, passed away April 23, 2018. To sum up the life of Archie’s 81 plus years in only a few words is nearly an impossible task. Giving a best effort, one would say he was a man of service – service to his country; service to his family; service to those he loved; and having recently accepted saving grace, service to his Lord and Savior was inevitable.

He was passionate about serving and helping others. Especially those he knew but also those whom he didn’t know. He would go out of his way to help those in need if there was any way he could help.

Archie served his country for 22 years as a U.S. Marine. He then went on to serve another 18 years as a police officer at the Naval Air Station. He loved his country and served his duty with pride.

The love of his life was Frances Miller, to whom he was married 28 years. They loved to spend time together at the cabin, relaxing, fishing, and just being together. He spent a lot of time fishing at that cabin, but also loved salt water fishing. It didn’t matter to him where it was, as long as he was fishing. Over the time of their marriage, Archie and Frances had the privilege to have 3 special dogs in their lives whom they both adored: Ginger, Brandi, and Ranger.

Archie was a loving man. A family man. A man who will be missed but will live on in our hearts. A man we are all thankful we knew and that he loved.

Archie is preceded in death by his father, Archie Lee Miller Sr; mother, Lillian Miller; and son, Craig Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Frances King Miller; sister, Aileen Land; daughters, Pam Roberts and Jackie MacFarland; sons, Archie Miller III, Kelly Miller, and Keith Miller; grandsons, Jeremy Miller, Justin Miller, Jake Miller, Chris McFarland, and Kolton Miller; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Miller; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside service with full military honors will take place on Monday, April 30, 2018, at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1 p.m. with Pastor Mike Mashburn officiating.
