Kristianna Danielle Boutwell
October 28, 2018
Miss Kristianna Danielle Boutwell, of Jay, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2018, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 6 and would have celebrated her 7th birthday on October 28th.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Berrydale Baptist Church. Bro. Robert Gandy will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2018, and on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. until time of services at 3 p.m. Interment will follow in the Berrydale Baptist Church cemetery with Kent Baker of Jay Chapel and Keahey Funeral Home directing.
ristianna will be greatly missed by her loving mother, Nora Danielle King (stepdad James “Jimmy” Goossen) of Jay; her father, Stanley Ray Boutwell, Jr. of Flomaton; her 15 year old brother, Stanley Ray Boutwell, III; her 10 year old sister Adrianna Marie Boutwell, her 2 year old sister, Mercedes Grace Boutwell, all of Jay; maternal grandmother, Susan Darline Hawkins of Jay (affectionately known as “Drammy” to Kristianna); maternal grandfather, Donald Earl King (wife Leslie) of Atmore; paternal grandparents, Stanley Ray Boutwell, Sr. and Barbara Ann Boutwell, of Flomaton; Aunt Tammy Pearson of Uriah, Alabama; Aunt Carolyn Boutwell Scott (husband Gary) of Jay; Aunt Stephanie Boutwell of Flomaton; Uncle Jeremiah Phillips of Jay; 1st cousins, Samantha Pearson of Uriah, Al; Brianna Pearson of Uriah, Al; Austin Boutwell, Matthew Boutwell, Dillan Scott, all of Jay and a host of other cousins and relatives.
Kristianna had been so excited about her upcoming birthday and about the upcoming Halloween holiday. For Halloween, she had planned to be a Mermaid. Kristianna had attended Kindergarten at Jay School and was in Mrs. Ashton Ashworth’s 1st Grade Class this year. She loved going to school, loved her teacher, and loved her school mates. She loved going to church at Barrydale Baptist Church. Kristianna loved to swim and remarkably at the young age of 3, while swimming with her mother at the grandparent’s home, she announced that she wanted to “swim by herself”. To everyone’s astonishment, Kristianna swam across the pool on top of the water and then across the pool under the water!
At about age 3, her brother, Stanley gave her a blue “blankie”; Kristianna instantly fell in love with it, even later as it became “worn from much love” she would not trade it in for a new “girlie” pink one. Her mother lovingly stated, “Bless her heart, she still liked to suck her thumb while snuggling with her blue “blankie”. She loved to cuddle with her mother and they had names for each other, “Cuddle Buddies”. Kristianna loved making home videos with her older sister, Adrianna and acting like they were on YouTube.
Kristianna loved animals; one year she asked for a cat for her birthday, not just any cat, but one that she requested be a “white with blue eyes”. She got her white cat with blue eyes and it quickly became her favorite pet. She named her cat “Foxy Girl”. Kristianna may have only had 6 brief years with her family and friends, but she made a momentous impact on everyone who knew her. Kristianna was truly an angel on earth and the family knows she is with her Heavenly Father today celebrating her 7th birthday and wearing the most angelic “Mermaid” outfit imaginable.
The family asked that anyone who would like to share a special memory of Kristianna, a comforting Bible scripture or other words of comfort for them to draw strength from in the days and years ahead, that each message of comfort and encouragement be given to the Jay Chapel-Keahey Funeral Home staff during the visitation times and a special memory book will be composed by the funeral home staff for the family to cherish.

Myrtle Louise Peacock Gilmore
October 27, 2018
Myrtle Louise Peacock Gilmore, 105, passed away peacefully October 22, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 15, 1912, in the Dry Springs Community of Pineville, Florida, to Luman and Lena Hollingsworth Joiner. Myrtle was one of five children.
Myrtle married Conard Cleveland Peacock in 1931. Together, they reared six children, Barbara, Bonnie, Voncile, Bernell, Wayne, and Tyrone. Their 50 years together included adventures such as working for the Forestry Service during World War II. Conard fighting fires, and Myrtle manning a 120 foot fire tower, triangulating fires and serving as a plane spotter during the war. After the war, they started the New Deal Café near the railroad depot in Flomaton, where soldiers could enjoy Myrtle’s good food on the way home from a long war. Later, they owned a small neighborhood store in Little Rock, Alabama. The family moved to Pensacola, where Conard worked for Bass Furniture, and Myrtle for Pleezing Grocery. Conard passed in 1981, shortly after their 50th wedding anniversary.
Several years later, Myrtle was courted by life long friend, Fred Gilmore. Their short, but delightful romance was a joy to watch, and Myrtle gained another daughter, Pat Bonner. Fred passed in 1991, after being married only five short years.
Born the daughter of a Holiness Circuit Preacher, Myrtle had a long history of serving others. Myrtle served the church as treasurer, Sunday School teacher, prayer warrior, and faithful member. As an elderly woman herself, she would provide rides for the older ladies of the church, meals for the sick and homebound, and make nursing home visits on a regular basis.
Myrtle loved the Lord, life, and family. Twice, Myrtle has celebrated five living generations, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and most recently six living generations with the birth of her first great- great-great-grandchild, Johnathan Curtis Marti. And a sister Estelle Funk of Fairhope, AL. She is preceded in death by two daughters, Barbara Parker and Voncile Hughen.
Myrtle was well known for her many “Myrtle-isms”, such as, “I’m not a wealthy old lady, but I’m a healthy old lady”, “We shouldn’t judge others, but we can be fruit inspectors”, “The old gray mare, ain’t what she used to be”, “Don’t go get into any trouble, they won’t let me out to come get you”, and of course, “When you get home, call and let it ring one time. Then I’ll know you made it home ok”.
The family would like to thank Solaris Healthcare, the staff and residents who loved and cared for her, and shared their lives with her. Especially Sharon, Joy, Heather, Tina, and Mary. Also Emerald Coast Hospice, especially her nurse Robin, and volunteers Diane and Cindy, and long time friend Liz Richards. All of you helped to make her life richer to the very end. It was impossible to know her and not love her, and never doubt that she loved you right back.
