James Arnold Sorrells

James “Wolfman” Arnold Sorrells, resident of Pensacola, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2019, at the age of 72. He was born to Arnold and Mary Sorrells in Luverne, Alabama on August 21, 1946. James worked as a certified welder with Tex Edwards Crane Company before becoming disabled. In his younger years he played little league baseball then played semi-pro baseball and later coached his daughter in softball and his son and nephew in baseball. He had a love for the sport of baseball. He had a great sense of humor and a love for making people laugh. James had a heart of gold. He would give you his last dollar or the shirt of his back if you needed it. He had a nick name for all of his children and wife. All of his cousins, nephews and friends called him Wolfman. He loved hunting. He was always happy as he lit up while telling his hunting stories. He was raised up Pentecostal Holiness. He attended Pace Assembly of God Church. He had a love and passion for God’s word. He loved to hear preaching from men that were on fire for God. Men that are not afraid of preaching God’s word the way it was written! (Bro. Clifford McGraw, Bro. Glenn Lowery and Bro. Joey Rogers).

He is preceded in death by his parents; children, Timmy Sorrells and Kathy Lynn Sorrells; brother, Dwight Sorrells; and mother in law, Ruth McDonald.

James will be truly missed by his beloved wife, Linda; his children, Angie (Jimmy) Coleman, Pam (Mike) Malone, Anita Cox, Jennifer (Darryl) McBride, James David Sorrells, and Arianna Sorrells; grandchildren, Brittany Phillips, Dessirah Knight, Brianna Coleman, Travis Knight, TraDarius O’Bair, Darryl McBride, Jr., Sabrina Cox, John Cox, Jake Cox, Jeremiah Sorrells, Kate Sorrells, Destinee McBride, Ashlynn Sorrells, and Bentley Sorrells; nine great-grandkids; many nieces and nephews, and his beloved doggie, Tiny.

James’ spirit, laughter, and humor will remain with all of us forever.

Funeral services will be held for James on Monday, February 18, 2019, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South with Pastor Joey Rogers officiating.

Burial will follow in Clopton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m. prior to services.

Pallbearers will be Rodney Archer, James David Sorrells, Doug Hart, Dylan Hart, Robert Phillips and Terry Palmer.

Mike Malone and Darryl McBride will act as Honorary Pallbearers.

Donna Irene Hollahan O’Neal

February 17, 2019

Donna Irene Hollahan O’Neal, 72, of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully January 31, 2019.

She is preceded by her parents, Donald (Bud) and Irene Hollahan.

Donna leaves to cherish her memories husband, Ferrell Arthur (Art) O’Neal, Jr; her children, Patrick (Jenny) O’Neal, Shawn (Rob) Gjuraj, and Mike (Johnna) O’Neal; her brother, Greg (Ruth) Hollahan; her sister, Debbie (Wayne) Helms; granddaughters, Marisa and Maryn; grandsons, Nick, Shane, and Logan; and great-granddaughter, Jordyn.

A memorial mass will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with visitation starting at 10:15 a.m., and mass at 11:00 a.m.

Daniel John Garrity

CTRCM(SW)(Ret) Daniel John Garrity, 58 of Pace, FL died peacefully at home with family by his side on February 10, 2019, after a six year battle with cancer. Dan was surrounded by his loving family and friends until the end. Despite his condition, he never went a single day without enjoying life and always had a smile on his face. He was born June 18, 1960, in Newark, NJ to Roger and Frances (Smith) Garrity.

Dan served proudly in the US Navy for 26 years. He was a distinguished Navy leader and had a tremendous impact on those who served along side him. During his retirement, Dan enjoyed golfing, boating with his wife and spending time by the pool watching sports with family and friends. He cherished his time with those he loved dearly. Dan was an inspiration to everyone he met and was the glue that held hundreds of people together.

Dan was preceded in death by is loving parents, Joseph and Frances Garrity; and siblings, Joseph, James, Michael and Kathleen.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Stephanie of 25 years; his sons, Daemon, Ryan, Daniel and Brendon; his sister, Maureen Pollio (Paul); and his darling granddaughter, Aslynn.

The services for Dan were held on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Interment was at Barrancas National Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life was held directly following the Interment at the family home. Dan will be forever loved and remembered.

Ella Irene White

Mrs. Ella Irene White, age 85 of Jay, FL, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at a Pensacola, FL healthcare facility.

Mrs. White was born in Jay, and remained a life-long member of the Jay community, where she was a member of Brownsdale Baptist Church of Chumuckla.  She retired from Monsanto in 1975, allowing her to enjoy working in her yard, fishing, traveling, spending time with her family and friends, and spoiling her grandchildren.  Mrs. White is preceded in death by her husband of 40 plus years, James ‘Bud’ White; four brothers, and three sisters.

She is survived by her son, Lavon (Melita) White of Flomaton, AL; daughter, Debra Polk of Jay, FL; sisters, Frances Olson of Fayetteville, GA, Helen Joyce Clark of Atlanta, GA, Barbara Mallahan of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Amanda (Brad) Bledsoe of Jay, FL, Zac (Alex) White of Flomaton, AL; Andrew Polk of Jay, FL, Kegan (Sandalin) White of Flomaton, AL; great-grandchildren, Makenleigh, Braxton, Zhane, Yazzy, and Baylor.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Brownsdale Baptist Church at 1:30 P.M. until a 2:30 P.M. service with Rev. Jeff Leake officiating.

Interment will follow in Jay City Cemetery, Jay, FL.

Pallbearers will be Jason Bledsoe, Ryan Bledsoe, Kevin Bledsoe, Gilbert Cozart, Randy Cozartt, Kevin Mallahan.

Jonathan Darryl Morgan

Mr. Jonathan Darryl Morgan, age 56, passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019, in Mobile, Alabama.

Mr. Morgan was a native and lifelong resident of Flomaton, AL. He was an avid Auburn fan, musician, pianist and singer. He attended the Promise Land Outreach Ministries Church of Atmore.

He is preceded in death by his father, Winfred Morgan; brother, Vince Morgan; and nephew, Jason Douglass.

He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Morgan of Flomaton, AL; wife of 30 years, Helen L. Morgan of Flomaton, AL; one daughter, Savannah Lawren Morgan of Flomaton, AL; one sister, Deborah Morgan Fountain of Atmore, AL; and special aunt, Shirley Beasley Diamond of Jay, FL.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Apostle Wayne Marshall and Pastor Connie Marshall officiating.

Burial was at Little Escambia Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Nick Morgan, Aaron Fountain, Kody Mefford, Nikki Odom, Tyler Newton, Jaden Newton, Alex Glidewell and Theron Inman.

Honorary pallbearer was Bryson Glidewell.

Terry Lynn Skinner

Terry Lynn Skinner, 51, passed away on January 31, 2019, in Clear Springs, AL. Terry was originally from Tennessee but made Molino, FL his home.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Judy Turner.

He leaves to cherish his memories his daughters, Jessica and Savannah; girlfriend, Kellie Pennington; father, Larry (Lisa) Skinner; sister, Greta Davis; brothers, Monroe Skinner, Matt (Kellie Odom) Ramsey, Kevin (Lisa) Odom; nieces, Makayla Ramsey, Harlie Odom, Kristen and Trista Lorenzana, Ashley Skinner, Emily Boutwell, Bebe Watson; nephews, Wyatt Ramsey, Josh Godwin, Tanner Odom, Joshua and Jacob Jones, Justin and Anthony Skinner and Brody Ragsdale; and mother-in-law, Debbie Odom. Special friends he loved and considered family, JC and Felicia Chivington, Nolan and Kim Lorenzana, Nichole Sweeting, and Brandon Franklin; and his truest friend, confidant and truly loved, Karen Odom.

Terry worked construction all his life. He spent the majority of the last 15 years doing electrical work and was employed at Chiv Electric. Terry was a simple man and hard worker. He enjoyed being with his family and his best furry friend, Sam.

Memorial services will be held at Saturday, February 9, 2019, at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to services.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Odom, Matt Ramsey, Levy Foster, Nolan Lorenzana, JC Chivington, and John Frenkel IV.

Donald Elliott Strickland

Donald Elliott Strickland, 87, of Walnut Hill, FL, passed away February 1, 2019, in Pensacola, FL. He was born in Bratt, FL on November 3, 1931, to the late Walker E. and Gladys Wiggins Strickland.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willie Marie Amos Strickland; a son George E. Strickland; and a sister, Mary Lou Strickland Wiggins.

He was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son, Bill (Sandy) Strickland of Broken Arrow, OK; two daughters, Donna (Jon) Dees of Cantonment, FL and Becky (Paul) Madeira of Miami, FL; three sisters, Louise (Charles) Bryan of Mobile, AL; Marilyn Ward of Walnut Hill, FL and Sharee (Edward) Godwin of Walnut Hill, FL; four grandsons, Kory (Kelly) Dees, Joshua Dees, Blake Dees and Bradyn Strickland; granddaughter, Sarah Strickland; and great-granddaughter, Kyler Dees.

Funeral services were held Monday, February 4, 2019, from the Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Ted Bridges and Rev. Joshua Long officiating.

Interment was in the Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with military honors.

Active pallbearers were Kory Dees, Joshua Dees, Blake Dees, Bradyn Strickland, Brett Ward and Horace Ward.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Poulsen and Wayne Long.

Robert C. “Bobby” Martin

January 29, 2019

Robert C. “Bobby” Martin, 69, of Davisville, FL, passed away January 25, 2019. He was born on June 19, 1949, in Atmore, AL, to the late Robert J. and Ethel Lee Mooney Martin. He attended the Atmore First Assembly of God Church. He was retired from the Army National Guard and was a retired corrections officer with Escambia County Florida Department of Corrections. He was avid fisherman and outdoorsman, and was known for his excellent cooking skills of fried fish and oysters. His parents preceded him in death.

He was survived by his wife Nancy Etheridge Martin of Davisville, FL; two children Jennifer Beck of Cantonment, FL, and Russell Martin of Tuscaloosa, AL; three brothers Ronnie (Gayle) Martin of Atmore, AL, Harold (JoAnn) Martin of Warren Robbins, GA, and Greg Martin of Atmore, AL; and two grandchildren Lauren and Lindsey Beck of Cantonment.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019, at 2 p.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Davis and Bro. Michael Roley officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Timothy Lassiter, Paul Hudson, Earl Bodiford, Chris Smith, Melvin Iutzi, and Jeremy McGhee.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at  Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel.

George H. Warren

George H. Warren, 75, of Pace, Florida, passed away Friday, January 25, 2019. He retired from the United States Postal Service after many years as a mail carrier, and then drove a school bus for Santa Rosa County Schools. Since childhood, George proved to be a true athlete. Some of his favorite sports were softball, tennis, bowling, and especially golf, including tournaments with his mom, Kathryn . He and his wife Bobbi enjoyed square dancing, he loved working outside in his yard, and playing ping pong with his children and grandchildren. He especially loved everyone coming together for family cook outs. George was the life of any party and loved to laugh. He is preceded in death by his mother Kathryn Warren, father George H. Carpenter and wife Barbara Warren.

He is survived by his stepfather, George C. Warren, sister Judy Ezell, children John Warren, Paul Warren, Wendy Schabatka (Ralf), Cindi Vinyard (Don), Steven Coleman, Jeri Garnish, Bobbi Eklund (Magnus), Shelly Taylor (Monty), 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Sunday, February 3, 2019, from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North, with the Funeral Service following at 12:00 PM.

Hettie Lewis Sanders

January 29, 2019

Hettie Lewis Sanders, 80 of Walnut Hill, FL, passed away Saturday, January 26, 2019, in Fairhope, AL. She was a homemaker, born in Scranton, AR, on June 9, 1938, to the late John W. and Bertha Burnette Stovall.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Irie O’Neal Lewis and Clarence Sanders, and multiple brothers and sisters.

Survivors are two sons, Orville (Darra) Lewis of Bay Springs, FL, and Roy (Lynn) Lewis of Pace, FL; two daughters: Bertha (Joey) Brown of Perdido, AL, and Carol (Mike) Crittenden of Fairhope, AL; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at 1 p.m. in Bay Springs Cemetery, Bay Springs, FL, with Bro. Kenneth Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Bay Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her children and their spouses..
