Dorothy Ward Bell, 91 of Atmore, Al passed away Monday March 18, 2019 in Century. She was a Homemaker, born in Harlingen, TX on April 28, 1927 to the late Otis Merritt and Lizzie Petty Ward. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by Her Parents, Step-Mother, Nellie B. Ward, Husband, Lewis Dewitt Bell,Sr. Son, Lewis Dewitt Bell,Jr Brother, Ray Ward, Sister Carmeleita Baldwin McDavid.
Survivors are: Two Sons: James (Marsha) Bell of Atmore, AL Craig (Regina) Bell of Eupora, MS One Daughter: Cathy (Ricky) Weaver of Atmore, AL. Eight Grandchildren, Six Great-Grandchildren and One Great-Great-Grandchild.
Graveside services will be Wednesday March 20, 2019 at 1PM from Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Joseph Simpson officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Active Pallbearers are, James Bell, Craig Bell, Ricky Weaver, Brian Bell, Matthew Bell and Christopher Bell.
Family will receive friends, Wednesday March 20, 2019 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 11:30AM to 12:30PM.

Dorothy Juliana Haupert McDonald

Dorothy Juliana Haupert McDonald, 84, of Cantonment, Florida passed away peacefully on March 18, 2019 surrounded by her family. Born December 8, 1934, she is preceded in death by her two infant sons; her parents, George and Magdalena May Haupert; one sister, Gert Castleberry; one brother, Jerry Haupert; and one great-grandson, Kolby Sconiers.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, John Herman McDonald; two sisters, Mildred Schwartz and Catherine Goff; one brother, George Haupert, Jr.; one son, Franklin (Martha) McDonald; three daughters, Jeannie (James) Murphy, Tammy (Allen) Register, and Sheryl McDonald. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Dorothy was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. She attended church for several years at Cottage Hill Assembly of God. Her favorite song to sing was “I’ll Fly Away”.
She worked for the Escambia County School Board for approximately 15 years driving Bus #93B. After retiring, she stayed home taking care of her husband and family. She loved growing flowers and spent numerous hours a day in her flower house. She also loved watching birds, collecting birdhouses, crocheting, making magnets, and collecting salt and pepper shakers form all over the world. She especially enjoyed sunning by the pool.
A special thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice and Nursespring/Sunshine Caregivers who helped to take care of Dorothy over the past few years with her struggle with Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
Please join us in celebrating her life. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with funeral services beginning at 12:00 p.m. Pastor Larry Murphy will be officiating and Dan Kirkland with be singing.
Burial will take place immediately following services in Pensacola Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Pensacola, Florida.
Pallbearers include Jason Asaro, Darryl Crooke, Bubba Register, Aaron Crooke, Caleb Murphy, Thomas Crooke, and Joshua Hoffman.

Paul B. Akins

Paul B. Akins, 80 of Atmore, AL, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, in Century, FL. He was a local football coach and teacher. He was born in Booneville, AL, on March 13, 1939, to the late Harry and Annie Clyde Still Akins. He was a member of Booneville Baptist Church, a Mason and a member of Huxford Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Jack Akins, Leon Akins and Mary Zelm.
Survivors include one daughter, Leighannah Akins of Toledo, Ohio; two brothers, Bruce Akins of Booneville, AL and Clarence (Bobbie) Akins of Robertsdale, AL; and one sister, Peggy Helton of Milton, FL.
Services will be held Thursday, March 21, 2019, at 11 a.m. from Booneville Baptist Church with Bro. Jesse Wood and Bro. David Atchison officiating.
Interment will follow in Booneville Baptist Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Harry Akins, Mickey Akins, Andy Akins, Medor Akins, John Akins, Joe Helton, Tim Akins, and Daniel Akins.

Byron Delbert Tims, 91 of Walnut Hill, FL passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019, in Atmore, AL. He had worked in retail sales for Fred’s Department Store. He was born on August 28, 1927, in Riderwood, AL to the late Odie Mancel and Rilla Ruller Tims. He served in the U.S.Army.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Vernell Kimbro Tims; grandson, Randall Helton and sister, Almogene Culpepper.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Tims of Virginia Beach, VA and Clark (Debra) Tims of Robertsdale, AL; one daughter, Michelle Helton of Oak Grove, FL; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. from Oak Grove Baptist Church with Bro. Butch Brown officiating.

Amanda Hope Lee Presley, age, 43, born in Pensacola, FL died Friday, March 15, 2019 at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL.
She is survived by her children, Brittney (Brad) Presley Naylor of Tupelo, MS, Cortney Presley, Shane Presley and Janey Presley all of Bay Minette, AL; the father of her children, Jeffrey Presley of Bay Minette, AL; her father and stepmother, Allen and Debbie Lee of Pensacola, FL; her siblings, Matt Lee, Cyndie Snipes, Christopher Creighton, Chelsey Lee, Hunter Lee, Darla Edmonson, Danny Ray Griffith and Kim Hall all of Pensacola, FL and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Roxanne Griffith; her maternal grandparents, Howard and Valerie Mason and her paternal grandparents, Chesley and Edna Lee.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Coastal Church, Highway 31 South, Bay Minette, AL 36507 with Reverend Steve Burton officiating.
Mattie Nadine Minchew McCurdy

Mrs. Mattie Nadine Minchew McCurdy, age 88, of Jay, Florida, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, after a brief illness in a Jay, Florida nursing facility. She was a native of Conecuh County, Alabama and a long time resident of Jay, Florida. Nadine graduated from W.S. Neal High School in 1950 and married Robert McCurdy that year. She lived the rest of her life in Jay and Mt.Carmel. She was a member of the Mt. Carmel Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer, an active member of the willing workers and choir member. Nadine worked at Jay High School as a secretary for 26 years. During her tenure she made many friends and was a positive influence for staff and students alike. Her favorite hobby was working in her yard and caring for her flowers.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ruth Minchew; husband, Robert McCurdy; three brothers, Lavon, Clifton, Carson; and three sisters, Annie, Pauline, Lillian.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2019, from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Mt. Carmel Church in Jay, Florida.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Carmel Church with Rev. Mark Barfield officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Jay with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Andrew J. “A.J.” Hudson

Andrew J. “A.J.” Hudson, 86 of Oak Grove, FL. passed away March 14, 2019 in Oak Grove. He was born November 21, 1932 in Crestview, FL. to the late Rev. R.F. and Helen Hill Hudson. He attended Walnut Hill Baptist Church and served in the United States Navy. He was a Brick Mason and owned Hudson Masonry Company for many years. A.J. Hudson was a kind, soft-spoken, compassionate man, with the heart of a servant. He loved fishing, hunting, traveling our country in his motorhome with his wife, Ernestine and serving his neighbors and relatives. Most of all he loved our Savior Jesus Christ who he shared with many people. He is preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Mary Alice Hudson, siblings; Robert Hudson, Junior Hudson, Billy Ray Hudson, Ouida Leader and Inez Chavis.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Ernestine Milstead Hudson of Oak Grove, FL. Three sons Paul (Linda) Hudson of Oak Grove, FL, Robert Hudson of Pensacola, FL. and Edward (Sharon) Hudson of Oak Grove, FL. Grandchildren Kim (Jamie) Brown, Joshua (Deanna) Hudson, Brandy (Steven) White, Neil (Phuong) Hudson, Ashley Hudson and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 18, 2019 at 2 PM from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ted Bridges officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Steven White, Jamie Brown, Joshua Hudson, Neil Hudson, Ryan Hudson and Robert Milstead.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 18, 2019 from 1pm until service time at 2pm from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Margaret A. Collier, 92, of Century, FL passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2019.
Mrs. Collier was born in Groveland, MA and had resided in Florida since 1930 and Northwest Florida since 1951. She was a long time member of Century United Methodist Church and the Alger-Sullivan Historical Society of Century.
Mrs. Collier was a retired school teacher.
Preceding Mrs. Collier is her husband of 47 years, M.L. Collier.
Survivors include her 2 sons, Neal Collier (Sandy) and A. C. Collier (Sharon); 3 grandchildren Allison Collier Leja (Adam), Katie Collier Plumley (Colton) and Karena McCafferty; 5 great grandchildren, Noah Leja, Ella Leji, Elliott Plumley, Jacob McCafferty and Erin McCafferty.
The family will receive friends at Century United Methodist Church on Monday, March 18, 2019 from 10 AM until the service begins at 11 AM. Pastor Janet Lee will officiate.
A graveside committal service will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Monday at 2:30 PM.

Vera Inez Corley

Vera Inez Corley, 79 of Cantonment, Florida passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 9, 2019.
Vera was a homemaker for her family and was a member of Farm Hill Baptist Church. She was a great lover of animals, and found comfort collecting them, even the injured ones.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Arthur Raymond Corley, daughter, Lori Ann Williams, son Arthur Raymond Corley II, and her parents George E & Maggie Lou Jacobson.
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Kristina Lynn and Rhonda Denise Corley. She is survived by her sisters, Shirley Roberts, Betty Moody, and brother Charles Jacobson. She has 4 grandchildren, Vivian (Chris) Stockwell, Valerie Lowe, Joseph Lowe and Arthur Raymond Corley III, and 5 great-grandchildren, and several fur babies.
A visitation will be held at Pensacola Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, March 13th, 2019, from 1pm until the service begins at 2pm.
The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice for their heartfelt care for her during the past year. Janelle, Ms Evelyn, Jason and David were a great comfort during this journey, as well as family and friends who were with her.
Ruby Janette Burgett

Ruby Janette Burgett, 84, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2019. Janette worked at Chemstrand as a machine operator and later at Vanity Fair as a seamstress. She enjoyed fishing and camping with her family along the rivers near her home in Molino. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her two grandsons, cuddling with her great grandson and playing a game of Canasta around a table with family. She was always quick witted and loved a good laugh. She also loved to tell stories from her childhood adventures with her brother, Everett.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Rosa Lee Eddins and her sister, Lorine DeVore.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Burgett; daughter Janis (Clarence)Yvette Patterson; grandsons Chad (Sara) Patterson and Casey (Katrina) Patterson; great grandson, Gavin Patterson; brother, Evertt Eddins and her sister, Katherine (Gene) Rowell.
Pallbearers will be, Casey Patterson, Clarence Patterson, Fred Howard Burgett, Kenneth Burgett, Bill Eddins and Trevor Hoffman.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019 beginning at 10:00AM with the service to follow at 11AM at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Burial to follow at Little Pine Barren Cemetery.
