Tim Allen Kimmons

Mr. Tim Allen Kimmons, age 57, passed away Friday, July 12, 2019, in Mobile, Alabama.

Mr. Kimmons was a native of Century, FL, former resident of Brewton and Flomaton where he spent most of his life and had resided in Range, AL for the past five years. He was an automobile painter and loved stock car racing and was a member of the Ebenezer Church.

He is survived by his mother, Claudeen Kimmons of Range, AL; four brothers, Charles (Kathy) Kimmons of Pensacola, FL, Donnie (Linda) Kimmons of Pensacola, FL, Bernie (Shelia) Kimmons of Cedar Bluff, AL and Douglas (Melinda) Kimmons of Andalusia, AL; one sister, Cindy (Jesse) Burch of Range, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Carnley and Bro. Tim Floyd officiating.

Burial was at the Beulah Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Justin Burch, Lester Kimmons, Dwaine Kimmons, Steven Kimmons, Doug Kimmons and Bernie Kimmons.

Honorary pallbearers were Mark Boyinton, Lee Ledbetter, Dakorey Kimmons, Chris Burch, Skyler McDaniel and Tyler McDaniel.

Weldie Elihue Donald

July 9, 2019

Lifetime resident of Atmore, Weldie Elihue Donald, went to join his Lord and Savior on Saturday, July 6, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elihue and Hannas Donald; his sister, Virginia Miller; and grandson, Amon Mark Wietbrock. He attended Escambia County High School and graduated class of 1957. After high school he attended the University of Alabama. He worked in the 707 lab at Monsanto for 38 years. After retirement he became an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time on his back forty and with his hunting buddies and grandson at Broken Arrow hunting lodge where he was charter member. On off seasons he could be found at Patterson’s Lake looking for that big bass. He was an active member of the Carney Masonic Lodge for over 30 years.

Weldie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Loyce; his only child, a daughter, Tracie Donald of Naples, FL; one sister, Lorraine Donald May, husband Bill, of Dallas TX; one grandson, Matthew Wietbrock and wife Danyell; one granddaughter, Tessie Wietbrock and soon to be husband, Alex Breuer of St. Louis, MO; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Weldie was a “good man” who always had a smile and loved his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2019, at 10 a.m. from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Don Davis officiating.

Burial will follow in Serenity Gardens Cemetery with Masonic Honors.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Wietbrock, Alex Breuer, Mark Wietbrock, Randy McKinley, Neil Baumann and Blaine Ford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Fred Moore, Roy Bracken and Greg Napps.

Mildred Ann Haupert Schwartz

July 9, 2019

Mildred Ann Haupert Schwartz passed away on July 7, 2019. She was born in Barrineau Park, FL on November 11, 1929, at her Grandpa and Grandma May’s house. She resided in Barrineau Park until she met and married Paul F. Schwartz, Sr., a Navy lad. They rode a bus to Meridian, MS and were married there buy a Justice of the Peace on March 17, 1947. She worked at the Morrison’s Cafeteria in Pensacola for many years. When Paul got employed by Kenny’s Shoes as District Manager she moved with him throughout Florida and Georgia. They finally settle in Lake County, IN where Paul’s relatives resided. Mildred and Paul divorced in 1966 and she moved back to Barrineau Park and lived there until her death.
She enjoyed working in her yard, tending to her beautiful flowers and other plants. She cut her grass on a riding lawn mower until she reached the age of 87. She was a great lady, shy, caring and loving individual who will be missed by all her family and friends.

Mildred was a member of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Barrineau Park.

She is preceded in death by her father, George Haupert; mother, Magdalena May Haupert; sisters, Gertrude Magdalena (James) Castleberry and Dorothy Julian (Herman) McDonald; and brother, Jerry Joseph (Sandra) Haupert.

Mildred is survived by her son, Paul W. (Charlotte) Schwartz, Jr.; granddaughters, Michelle Ann (Mike) McCampbell and Melissa Ann Victoria (Earl) Currin; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Collin, Harmony, Steven and Quinn.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Molino, FL with Father George Thekku officiating.

Burial will follow in Barrineau Park Colony Cemetery formerly known as St. Elizabeth Catholic Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North. Rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Marty Lorenz, Eddie Goff, Jody Bonner, Bryan Craft, Frankie McDonald and Richard Goff.

Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Craft, Josh Craft and Dusty Craft.

Homer Edgar Neal

Homer Edgar Neal, age 84, died July 6, 2019, in his home in Cantonment, Florida surrounded by the family that loved him, cancer having taken him. “Eddie,” as he was known to most, was a beloved member of the lives of those blessed to know him, whether by professional relationship, as a helping hand or as family. Eddie proudly served America and her interests in the United States Army 2nd Armored Division “Hell on Wheels” in the European theater and lived well the freedoms he bled to secure. Eddie lived his life generously ever treating others with the grace that he received from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, whom he walked with in this life for over 77 years.

Eddie was born to Elmer Luther and Mattie Lee (Smith) Neal on May 17, 1935, in Cantonment. He married the love of his life, Mary Francis Lee Barlow on June 14, 1957, and together they built their home and reared a family.

Homer Edgar Neal is survived by his wife, Mary Francis Lee (Barlow) Neal; their children, Randall “Randy” Edgar Neal, his wife Brandi Alice (Burleson) Neal, Sheila Diane (Neal) Gibbs, her husband, James Robert “Bobby” Gibbs, Shirley Jane (Neal) Williams, her husband Jesse Williams, Shelby Jean (Neal) Douglas, her husband Michael Douglas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m until 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019, Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Pastor Henry Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow in Cottage Hill Community Cemetery.

Willis Matthew Ray

July 9, 2019

Mr. Willis Matthew Ray, age 89, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019, in Century, Florida.

Mr. Ray was a native of Sontag, MS, former resident of Mobile, AL and had resided in Canoe, AL for the past 64 years. He retired from Monsanto Corp with 39 years of service, was a veteran of the Korean War Conflict with the U.S. Army and a member of the Canoe Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Jessie Lee Ray; brothers, Arthur Lee Ray, Johnnie Frank Ray, Marvin Kenneth Ray, Milton Ray and Sam Leonard Ray; and sister, Lettie Jane Childress.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Voncile M. Ray of Canoe, AL; two daughters, Carolyn (Mike) Helms of Robinsonville, AL and Beverly (Don) Ellis of Atmore, AL; one sister, Mary Conway of Atmore, AL; six grandchildren, Matt (Gayle) Helms, Joey Helms, Tammy Lollar, Kavin Dykes, Bradley (Emily) Dykes and Jennifer Dykes; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Kavin Dykes and Carolyn Helms officiating.

Burial will follow at the Canoe Free Will Baptist Cemetery.

Franklin Carnley, Sr.

Mr. Franklin “Frank” Carnley, Sr., age 76, passed away on Friday, July 6, 2019, in Milton, Florida.

Mr. Carnley was a native of Perdido, AL and had resided in Bratt, FL for the past 52 years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, man of integrity, fish bait man and woodworker. He attended the Renovation Ministries in Huxford, AL. He is preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Krystal Carnley; and parents, Fred and Annie Lee Carnley.

He is survived by his wife of 51 ½ years, Cathy Carnley of Bratt, FL; two sons, Eddie (Pam) Carnley of Perdido, AL and Allen (Kim) Carnley of Nokomis, FL; one daughter, Kathryn Carnley (Steve) Huggins of Bay Minette, AL; one brother, Rev. Ron (Bonnie) Carnley of Pace, FL; six sisters, Evon (Henry) Crocker of Lucedale, MS, Ethree (Jimmy) Taylor of Pensacola, FL, Rachel Stewart of Dickerson, TX, Ruth Futrel of Pensacola, FL, Mildred Carnley of Chumuckla, FL and Kay (Bill) Ham of Pace, FL; eight grandchildren, Nathaniel Carnley, Montana Carnley, Branson Carnley, Chris Carnley, Shonnon Huggins (Jon) Taylor, Aaron Huggins, Skyler Wallace (Zach) Berwick and Brandon Wallace; and three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Taylor, Samuel Taylor and Ana Grayce Taylor.

Harvey James Rolin

Mr. Harvey James Rolin, age 69, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019, at his home in Poarch, AL.

Mr. Rolin was a native of Dallas, TX and had resided in Poarch, AL for most of his life. He was a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians and the Poarch Community Church. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Eugene and Bessie Rolin; brother, Donnie Rolin; and one great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his two sons, James Wilson (Melinda Rolin) of Poarch, AL and Josh (Lindsey) Hammac of Poarch, AL; two daughters, Keisha (Joey) Lambert of Shreveport, LA and Tonya Whatley of Bay Minette, AL; nine brothers, Ernest (Tina) Rolin, Roy Rolin, Walter (Anita) Rolin, Kenneth “Radio” Rolin, Anthony (Jennifer) Rolin, Deno (Necole) Rolin, Johnny (Ashley) Rolin, Shawn (Stephanie) Rolin and Aubrey “Tinker” (Tasha) Rolin all of Poarch, AL; three sisters, Peggy Couch, Virginia Bell Godwin and Tonya (Wesley Rayborn) Jordan all of Poarch, AL; special sister (sister-in-law), Dianna Rolin of Poarch, AL; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Robert Franklin Johns

July 9, 2019

Robert Franklin Johns, known respectfully and lovingly as “Chief CedarBear” of the Perdido Bay Tribe of Southeastern Lower Muscogee Creek Indians, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, following medical complications that arose during his treatment for injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on June 2.

Interment, following escort by the Patriot Guard Riders to Barrancas National Cemetery, is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 30, 2019.  Then, on Saturday, August 31, 2019, the Perdido Bay Tribe in conjunction with the Native Paths Cultural Heritage Museum, will host a Memorial Celebration of Life Event.  More details regarding the exact location and time of this event can be found at www.facebook.com/perdidobaytribe in the days to come.

Robert was born May 10, 1960, in Macon, Georgia, attended high school in Warner Robins, Georgia, and entered the Navy in a delayed entry program so that shortly after leaving high school, he began a one tour enlistment with the United States Navy.  Following training, he served on the U.S.S. Constellation Aircraft Carrier (known as “Connie” to its crew), which was based in San Diego, California.  His final mission aboard Connie began in February, 1980, as the ship moved westward following in November, 1979, takeover of the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran.  Connie arrived at Gonzo Station on May 1, 1980, to relieve the Coral Sea, with Connie and her crew’s “at sea period” for this mission lasting a record setting period of time that resulted in the Connie crew members being awarded the Navy Expeditionary Medal for their service.

Following his Navy service, Robert worked in a fairly wide variety of businesses, most of which were retail operations of one sort or the other, working everything from sales to inventorying to management training, but he finally went to work with Excel Logistics where he stayed for about 17 years.  During his time with Excel, he worked in a variety of positions at several different locations in the western metro-Atlanta area and also spent a year in New Mexico as a member of the team sent to help open a new facility for the company in Albuquerque.  During his time in New Mexico, being surrounded by Native American culture, Robert became more interested in his Native American Heritage, an interest that grew to become an integral part of the remainder of his life.  Robert left Excel Logistics in 2008 and moved to Florida to work with his father and the Perdido Bay Tribe at Native Paths Cultural Heritage Museum, where he continued until the time of his motorcycle accident and subsequent death.

He was preceded in death by his father, who was founder and predecessor Chief of the Perdido Bay Tribe, Bobby Thomas “Chief Bearheart” Johns, and his step-father, Claude “Fred” Fraser.

He is survived by his mother, Matilda “Ann” Berry Fraser, and his step-mother, Marian Johns-Holcombe (Mike); his wife, Lynn Bundrick Johns and his children, Krystal Lace Johns Eisemann (Patrick), Kara Lauren Johns Nunnally (Jamie) and Jesse Robert Johns; his grandchildren, Lorelei Michelle Eisenmann, Cordelia Lace Eisenmann, Rhett Lee Nunnally and Jacie Lynn Nunnally; his brother, Christopher Berry Johns (Linda); his sisters, Cynthia Johns O’Herron (Billy) and Karen Johns Turner (Ben); his sister’s children, Kimberly Paulsen Phelps (Michael), Julia Bonnie Ann Turner and Logan John Turner; a great nephew, Anthony Michael Phelps, and many other extended family members; his life-long friend, Harold McMullen, the friend who was by his side through his final illness, John Hailer, and his pastor, Henry Lewis of Community Baptist Church in Pensacola.

Our deepest appreciation goes out to the entire staff and medical team of the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SINU) at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola for providing such amazing, respectful and loving care to this man who spent 22 ½ days with them.  There was never a doubt that this group of amazing people were pulling for the “Chief” (as so many of them chose to call him).

Thelma Wiggins Holley

Thelma Wiggins Holley, 90, died Friday, July 5, 2019, at her home in Bratt after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Holley was born in Bratt on March 9, 1929, the daughter of Robert and Addie Wiggins. She was a graduate of Ernest Ward High School. Upon her marriage, she moved to Pensacola in 1954, where she lived for forty-three years. She was a long-time teacher aide, first in the Head Start program, and then at McMillan and Brentwood Elementary Schools. She was a faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Pensacola. Upon her retirement in 1997, she returned to Bratt, where she was a member of Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Edgar Holley, in 1963; by her brothers Robert James Wiggins, H. B. Wiggins, Rufus Wiggins, Henry Wiggins, Leon Wiggins, and M. L. “Buddy” Wiggins; by her sisters Bertha Wiggins, Dorothy Norris, Myra Brantley, and Essie Coleman; and by her step-son and daughter-in-law, Talmadge and Dorothy Holley.

She is survived by her son, Darrell Holley, also of Bratt; and by her sisters, Glyndal Robbins of Bratt and Jessie Wiggins of Pensacola; by her four step-grandchildren, as well as by a large extended family.

Visitation will be Monday, July 8, 2019, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church in Bratt, located at 5410 North Highway 99.

Funeral services will be Monday, July 8, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Free Will Baptist Church in Bratt, with Rev. Matthew Pinson officiating.

Pall bearers will be Gregory Robbins, Brian Robbins, Marvin Wiggins, Joe Brantley, John McCall, and Rev. James Sage.

Burial will be at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Petty Eastside Funeral Home of Atmore.

Betty Stuckey Owens

July 6, 2019

Betty Stuckey Owens, age 83, of Jay, Florida, went to be with the Lord on July 2, 2019. She was born and raised in Byrneville, Florida. She married James Edward Owens on August 29, 1953, and moved to Jay. She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker, and she faithfully served her church, Jay First Baptist, for many years.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, James Owens; her father, T.W. Stuckey; mother, Margaret Matheny Stuckey; and sister, Aleece Stuckey Hayes.

She is survived by her sons, Gary (Judy) Owens, Larry (Ramona) Owens, and Ricky (Sabrina) Owens; eight grandchildren, Redina (Jack) Gavin, Amanda (Shane) Dawsey, Micah (Jessica) Owens, Meredith Owens, Carly Owens, Zach Owens, Adam (Brittany) Olsen, and Kaity (Nick) Dishler; nine great-grandchildren, Lane Burgess, Alex Gavin, Laura Gavin, Owen Dawsey, Oakleigh Dawsey, Opal Dawsey, Adaline Owens, Landyn Dishler, and Raylan Olsen. Betty is also survived by her brother, William (Linda) Stuckey.

Betty was a loving wife and mother, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends..

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. David Smith, Jay Hospital, and The Terrace for the excellent care given to Betty during her illness.

Services were held Friday, July 5, 2019 at Jay First Baptist Church.

Graveside services immediately followed at Jay Cemetery.
