Edith Margie Lee Lassiter Baggett

Mrs. Edith Margie Lee Lassiter Baggett, age 97, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at the Atmore Nursing Home.

Mrs. Baggett was born in Conecuh County, AL, and was a long-time resident of Route 2 Castleberry. She worked as a seamstress at Vanity Fair for a number of years. She was a member of London Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Otis Baggett; two daughters, Judy E. Baggett and Shirley Baggett; and two sisters, Anne Raines and Avaline “Turk” Cain.

She is survived by two daughters, Gaye B. (Bob) Evans of Walnut Hill, FL, and Gayle Weaver of Walnut Hill, FL; one brother, A.C. Lassiter of Mobile; two sisters, Lois Baggett of Repton, AL, and Carolyn Fazenbaker of Montgomery, AL; brother-in-law, Harvey Baggett of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Tara Walden, Toby Weaver, Drew Miller, Renee Sassaman, and Marie Boyd; great-grandchildren, Logan Lambeth, Jami Andrews, Katherine Smith, Lindsay Miller, Matthew Sassaman, Mary Jo Sassaman, Grace Sassaman, Evan Sassaman, and Travis Boyd; great-great-grandchildren, Thomas Luke Spears, and Peregrine Sassaman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at London Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Blackwell officiating. Interment will follow in London Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at London Baptist Church on Saturday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.

Pallbearers: Alan Lassiter, Don Baggett, Bill Baggett, Toby Weaver, Logan Lambeth, and John Pate.

Honorary Pallbearers: Marc Taylor, Sean Lassiter, Bobby Edgar, and Bob Evans.

Dr. Mary C. (Diamond) Findley

October 2, 2019

Dr. Mary C. (Diamond) Findley, 92, of Jay passed away on September 28 at the Olive Branch Rehabilitation Center.  Mary was born November 2, 1926.

She was a graduate of Jay High School and Florida State College for Women, now The Florida State University, (FSU). She later received her Master’s and Doctorate degrees from FSU.

After college, Mary was a Home Economist for the Escambia River Cooperative. She started teaching at Jay Elementary then went on to teach at Jay High School and later became the first woman principal in Santa Rosa County at Jay High School.

Mary was an amazing cook, avid reader and loved to travel. She was a very devoted Florida State fan where she served as FSU Alumni president and was an active booster member. She travelled extensively to watch her beloved Seminoles play. Mary married Hoyt Findley on December 20, 1946 who preceded her in death.  Also preceded in death were her parents Cassie and Guy Diamond Sr., brother Guy Diamond Jr., sister Burlentine Karlen, granddaughter and great grandson, Nikki (Findley) Hagler and Chance Hagler.

Mary is survived by her children Burlin (Ann) Findley, Cecelia Findley, Nathan Findley and Melissa (Bob) Sidoti, her grandsons Levi (Kaylen) Findley, Michael (Julie) Brake and Jacob Brake. Her granddaughters Kelly (Kevin) Mitchem, Brooke (Wesley) Barnes, Kimberly Newby, Sara Brake, Karen (Wes) Welch, eight great-grandchildren, three brothers Marshal (Dot) Diamond, James Diamond, and Wallace (Shirley) Diamond, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the Jay Chapel Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 6-8. Funeral service will be held at Cora Baptist Church in Jay, FL, Thursday, October 3rd at 2 p.m. The family wishes to thank the staff of Jay Hospital, Olive Branch Rehabilitation Center and West Florida Hospital for their compassionate and loving care during Mary’s final days. Interment at Cora Cemetery.

Allie Mae Sexton

Mrs. Allie Mae Sexton, born April 7, 1932 passed away on Friday, September 27, 2019 in Century, Florida.

Allie met her husband, Jim, while he was in the Air Force. They married in 1952 and were stationed in several places during his service career. The one place they were stationed and she would always talk about was in Anchorage, Alaska during the 1964 earthquake. Allie was very happy for Jim’s retirement after that experience and he retired in 1967.

In 1967 Allie and family moved back to Bratt, Florida.

Allie worked several jobs as a bookkeeper, tax preparer and secretary. Her and husband, Jim, owned Bratt Trucking for several years.

She loved to work in her garden and crochet.

Allie became ill and was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. She resided at Century Care Center Nursing Home from 2009 until her death. Even with this terrible disease she never forgot her family and friends. Her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren meant the world to her. She would always say I Love You More.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Franklin Sexton, her parents, Oscar and Lennie (Miles) Wearren, sisters Georgia Lowell, Juliaette Hanks, infant sister, brothers James (Frank) Wearren, Pellar Lee Wearren, and Hollis Wearren.

She is survived by her daughters Linda Jackson (Atmore, AL.), Diane Lambert (Severn, MD), sister Doris Vivian Brown (Pensacola, FL), 4 grandchildren Rhonda (Dale) Solaas, Charles (Teresa) Waters, Kelli (CJ) Jackson, John (Niki) Lambert, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

A special thanks and with love from their granny to great-granddaughters, Vickie (Robert) Bermudez, and Bethany Ann Jones for the summer school break they volunteered at the Century Care Nursing Home spending time with their granny and helping other residents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 4, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Cary Hanks officiating.

Burial will follow at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 3, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Charles Waters, Dale Solaas, Charlie Waters, Robert Bermudez, Steve Hanks and Gregory Wearren.

In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Lois Bell Davis

October 2, 2019

On Sunday September 29, 2019 our Mother, Lois Bell Davis, 88, went home to be with Jesus. Lois was born on September 1, 1931 to Marion Eda Hart Bell and Joel Webster Bell in Pensacola, Florida. She was the middle child of seven.

Lois would have been married for 68 years on October 6th to Oscar Ruel Davis. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by daughters, Miriam (Mickey) Neese (Joseph) and Vicki Sharp (David); grandchildren, Kimberly Joylin Neese Nelson (Chad) and Christine Elizabeth Wilson Nieves (Jeff); great grandchildren, Chase Nelson, Bianca Nieves and Enzo Nieves; sister, Joanne Cobley Presley (Tommy) and numerous nieces and nephews. We would also like to thank a special friend and helper, Eileen Ogaltree for her loving care of Mom.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Robbie Davis.

Lois was a proud 1951 graduate of J.M. Tate High School. She supported her husband in his many job endeavors as an entrepreneur. She was always active in her Church until her health began to decline. She was a member of Plainview Baptist Church until recently. At the time of her passing she was a member of Hillcrest Baptist and Lois, along with her husband Oscar, were charter members of Hillcrest Baptist. Lois had lived with her daughter Mickey for the past 18 months.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:30 pm at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Harold Quentine Williams

October 2, 2019

Harold Quentine Williams age 91 of Pensacola, Fl passed away on Thursday September 26th, 2019 at his home. Harold was born on September 19th, 1928 in Enterprise, Alabama to parents Howard Lee Williams and Willie Tom Williams.

He served in the Army from September 16th, 1953 to December 31st, 1961. He served in the Korean War where he received honors including National Defense, a Service Medal, United Nations, and a Korean Service medal after that he received an Honorable discharge. He then went on to work for Murphy’s Oil Company for 12 years and then on to be a truck driver for McKenzie Tank Lines for 35 years from which he retired. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a loving heart and spirit with a smile that could light up a room. He was a hard worker and loved working outside gardening and tending to anything that would keep him busy in the yard.

He is preceded in death by his parents Howard and Willie Williams. His two brothers Howard Junior Williams and Jack Roland Williams. His sisters Marylin Williams Sparks and Angie Williams McKowan.  

He is survived by his wife Marion Williams: sisters Margaret Calhoun and Carolyn Brown: children Stan Shaffer Sr, Jenny Hatcher, Jim Shaffer, Beverly Sweeney, and Leonard Shaffer; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on October. 3rd, 2019 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home on Beverly Parkway in Pensacola, Fl. The family viewing is at 9:30 AM followed by the public viewing from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Services will be from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a police and motorcycle escort to Barrancas National Cemetery where he will receive full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations are made to help with funeral expenses.

Donna L. Nezovich

Donna L. Nezovich, a resident of Cantonment, FL, passed away on Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the age of 65. She was born on March 1, 1954, in Lawrence, Kansas. Throughout her professional career she worked at several local hospitals and in banking before retiring. She then devoted her life to her family, friends, and community. In 1978 she married the love of her life and enjoyed 37 years of marriage.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Nezovich; children, Joe and Kimberly; mother, Barbara Lewis; father, Donald Lewis; and brother, Donald Lewis, II.

Donna is survived by her son, Jody (Taylor) Nezovich; grandchildren, Silas and Caleb; sisters, Dena (Kelvin) Oldfield and Dianna (D.L.) Bair; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 28, 2019, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North.

Burial was in Ray’s Chapel Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jody Nezovich, Tavarus Bair, Donald Lewis, III, Kelvin Thompson, D.J. Spence, and Tim Marks.

Eric King, John Bivens, Silas Nezovich, and Caleb Nezovich were honorary pallbearers.

Susan Elizabeth Gauthier Hall

September 27, 2019

Susan Elizabeth Gauthier Hall passed away peacefully on September 21, 2019, after an extended battle with kidney disease. Susan was born in Pensacola, Florida on May 23, 1947, as the first of eight children to Joyce Pate Gauthier and Marcel Joseph Gauthier.

Susan graduated from Pensacola High School and attended cosmetology school to become a hairdresser for many years. Later she entered into the convenience store industry and worked as a manager in Pensacola. Susan made a move to North Carolina and Dothan, AL and worked in the hotel industry. Susan returned to Pensacola and worked in the home health care profession.

Susan is survived by her son, Joseph Aaron Hall (wife Janay) and daughter, June Marie Angeli; grandchildren, Courtney Hall, Shyann Hall, Hunter Hall, Stephen Simmons, Anthony Angeli and Heath Angeli; great grandchildren, Kris Angeli, Sidney Miller, Wyatt Miller, Tucker Henson, Parker Emery and Bayleigh Simmons; siblings, MaryAnn Rouden (Sandy), Cathy Dedmon (Danny), Marcella Leonard (Steve), Michael Gauthier (Carol), Joanne Wallace (Mike), Teresa Johanson (Glen) and Sarah Bull (Charles). Susan had an extended family of many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joyce and Marcel Gauthier; maternal grandparents, Frank and Sarah Pate; paternal grandparents, Louie and Florence Gauthier and nephews, Trey Rouden and Marcel Gauthier.

Susan’s siblings deeply appreciate the care and comfort provided by Janay Hall (Susan’s daughter-in-law) and her son Aaron. The family wishes to extend thanks for the medical care and concern provided by Dr. Maged Nashed, MD; the staff at Renalus Center for Kidney Care in Milton FL; Pruitt Health in Milton FL; West Florida Hospital and Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital, Pensacola, Florida.

The family will have a celebration of Susan’s life at a later date.

Marcus Dewayne Mitchell

Mr. Marcus Dewayne Mitchell, 63 passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019, at his home in Nokomis, Alabama.

Mr. Mitchell was a lifelong resident of Walnut Hill, FL. He was a loving father, brother, and grandfather and he never met a stranger. He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Vaden Gibson Mitchell.

Marcus is survived by his son, Douglas Mitchell of Lottie, AL; his daughter, Elizabeth Daughtery (Andrew) of Atmore, AL; one grandson, Houston Daughtery of Atmore, AL; three brothers, Mervin Gibson (Marsha) of Walnut Hill, FL; Riley Mitchell (Jean) of Harold, FL and Malcolm Mitchell (Vanessa) of Leaksville, MS; two sisters, Susie McCann (Gilbert)of McCullough, AL, and Michelle Ivey (Kookie) of Nokomis, AL; a special niece, Stephanie Cook (Ricky) of Booneville, AL; and a special thanks to three special caregivers; Shelby Sellers, Davisha Johnson and Camille Nettles.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Bro. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.

Burial was at Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ricky Cook, Doyle Dobbins, Rave Jackson, John Solomon, Gwen McGhee, Gilbert Hadley.

Freddie T. Amerson

September 22, 2019

Mrs. Freddie T. Amerson, 88 of Cantonment, FL, formally of Bratt, FL, passed away September 19, 2019, in Cantonment, FL. She was born on August 3, 1931, in White Springs, FL to the late Fred and Isabelle Roberts Tyre. She was a member of Pine Barren Baptist Church and donated a lot of her time visiting and ministering in local nursing homes. She worked at Vanity Fair; she was a restaurant worker then later retired as a school bus driver for Escambia Co. Florida School District. She loved her family and enjoyed sharing the plan of salvation with her family and friends so one day they can see her again in heaven.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son; Martin Vanis Rosier; and a brother, Raymond Cecil Tyre.

She is survived by her children, Cliff Amerson of Bratt, FL; Margaret (Sambo) Garrett of Bay Springs, FL; Gwen (David) Johnson of Cantonment, FL and Becky (Tim) Drone of Milton, FL; two sisters, Vivian (Gene) Vogan of Crescent City, FL and Delores Sowan of Buford, GA; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Monday September 23, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. in Bratt-Godwin Cemetery with Bro. Mike Harper officiating.

Interment will follow in Bratt-Godwin Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Monday, September 23, 2019, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Samuel Millard Lansdon

September 22, 2019

Samuel was born to Gladys and Millard Lansdon on April 6, 1944, in Pensacola, FL. He married Joyce Ann Golden on June 10, 1964. Three years later, April 28, 1967, their first child, Camela Renee, was born. Not long after, an infant son was born. His life on earth was only a few short hours. On March 27, 1970, another daughter, Marsha Deanna, was born. Samuel was owner of Lansdon Construction Company and a member of the Homebuilders Association. He was a lifelong member of Beams of Light Holiness Church. He was blessed with six grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Samuel loved life. He loved to work. Spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting and sharing time with his family were his favorite pastimes.

Samuel is preceded in death by his infant son, Samuel Lansdon, II; father, Millard Lansdon; mother, Gladys Lansdon; and sister, Gloria Lansdon.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Joyce Lansdon; daughter, Camela (Davin) Burnett; daughter, Marsha (LaRon) Futral; sister, Martha (Luther) Sessions; brother, David (Carolyn) Lansdon; brother, James (Diane) Lansdon; six grandchildren, Savannah Burnett, Sierra Burnett, Sadie Burnett, Trevor Futral, Travis Futral and Treyton Futral.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 21, 2019, at Beams of Light Holiness Church in Cantonment.

Interment was at Beams of Light Holiness Church Cemetery.

Reverend Jim, Richardson, Reverend Davin Burnett and Reverend Philip Deane will be officiating.

Pallbearers were Ryan Golden, Darren Duke, Tyler Ard, Colton Deane, Barton Sessions and Hunter Bass.

Honorary pallbearers were Billy Campbell, Leon Hawthorne, Willie Myrick, Keith Rowell, Chris Burnett, Wesley Sessions, Paul Martin Smith, Tommy Wood, and Perry Sessions.
