Kathryn Louise Burkett Oglesby Thomas

Kathryn Louise Burkett Oglesby Thomas, 91, was born September 25, 1928, in Bay Manite, Alabama, to the late Robert and Ara Crabtree Burkett. She was taken from this earthly home on January 23, 2020, surrounded by family in the comfort of her daughters home in Cantonment, Florida. Kathryn loved spending time with her family and friends. She never met a stranger and always took great pride in helping others anyway she could. Kathryn retired from St. Regis Paper Co. following thirty-five years of dedicated services. She will be remembered for the fun loving and charismatic personality she possessed.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Homer Thomas, one son John T. (Tommy) Oglesby, three brothers: Bobby Burkett, Dick Burkett and Buddy Burkett, one great-granddaughter Anna Oglesby, and a son-in-law Jimmy Foley.

Left to cherish Kathryn’s beautiful memories will be her daughter Linda Foley, a special daughter-in-law Shirley Oglesby, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, one brother Pete Burkett, along with many extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

We all loved her and will miss her greatly.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, January 27, 2020 on the grounds of Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens

Shirley Marilyn Vickrey Fayard

Mrs. Shirley Marilyn Vickrey Fayard, age 81, of Atmore, AL, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2020 in Atmore.

She was born in Huxford, AL, to the late Bernard E. “Bunk” and Daisy Myrtle Kent Vickrey. She was a faithful member of Presley Street Baptist Church serving as a Sunday school teacher, pianist and member of the choir. She retired from First National Bank of Atmore after 48 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Billy Turberville; brothers, Lawrence Vickrey and Doug Vickrey.

She is survived by her husband H. Curtis Fayard of Atmore; three sons, Greg (Kelly) Turberville of Enterprise, Ala.; Mike (Terri) Fayard of Seminole, AL, and Bryan (Candace) Fayard of Flomaton, AL; two sisters. Nell Owens and Ann (Larry) Davis, all of Atmore; five grandchildren Erin, Kaylee, Cody, Emily and Curt; three great-grandchildren Arabella, Owen and Finn.

Funeral services will held Monday, January 27, 2020, at 2 p.m. at Presley Street Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Simpson, officiating. Burial to follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 27, 2020, from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. at Presley Street Baptist Church.

Rufus McClain

Mr. Rufus “Buck” McClain, age 79, passed away, Wednesday, January 22, 2020, in Pensacola, Florida.

Mr. McClain was native of Boykin, AL, former resident of Conecuh County, AL and had resided in Atmore, AL for the past seven years. He was a retired logger.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Bradley and parents, Frank and Mary Voncile McClain.

He is survived by one son, Anthony McClain of Houston, TX; one brother, Frankie McClain of Brewton, AL; two sisters, Theresa McClain of Atmore, AL and Eva Mae Heard of Moss Point, MS and nephew, Robert (Ida Mae) McClain of Atmore, AL.

Mr. Mark Anthony Brown , age 61, passed away on January 22, 2020, at his home in Atmore, Alabama.

Mr. Brown was a lifelong resident of Atmore, Alabama. Mr. Brown owned and operated Atmore Tune Up. He was a member of the Atmore First Assembly of God Church. He is preceded in death by his father, James Brown and a son, Cody Matthew Brown.

He is survived by his mother, Clara Copeland of Atmore, AL; his loving wife of 36 years, Sandra S. Brown of Atmore, AL; one son, Joshua Mark and Allison Brown of Atmore, AL; three brothers, Blane and Pam Brown of Foley, AL, Bobby and Wanda Brown of Magnolia Springs, AL and Lloyd Copeland of Atmore, AL; one sister, Marilyn and David Dees of Lee, FL; three grandchildren, Madison, Molly and Cody Brown and numerous nieces, nephews, his church family and many friends .

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 26, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Atmore First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Don Davis officiating.

Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donald Ray Weaver, Earl Bodiford, Warren Mosley, Michael Roley, Josh Brown and John Spencer .

Chadrick Lee Wooten

Chadrick Lee Wooten 48, of Bratt, FL passed away January 16, 2020, in Bratt, FL. He was born in Brewton, AL on July 12, 1971, to Joe Frank and Belinda Kay Wooten. He was a welder by trade and is preceded in death by his grandparents Buford Wooten, Cassie Wooten, Lawrence “Buck” Gohagan and Mable Eicher.

He is survived by his parents, Joe Frank and Belinda Kay Wooten of Bratt, FL; grandmothers, Letitia Phillips and Regina Gohagan; three sons, Casey Lane Wooten of Bratt, FL, Ashley Cade Hammonds of Atmore, AL, and Daylon Gage Wooten of Uriah, AL; one daughter, Raylee Joe Wooten of Walnut Hill, FL; one sister, Shane (Heath) Fillmore of Bratt, FL; one brother, Brad Wooten (Lyn Weaver) of Bratt, FL; fiancee, Karen Greenwood; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Steve Breceda officiating.

Interment was in Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, FL.

Active pallbearers were Brad Wooten, Cade Hammonds, Daylon Wooten, Kelton Wooten, Heath Fillmore and Trey McGhee.

Mr. Ronald Jesse Graves, age 72, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 15, 2020, in Milton, Florida.

Mr. Graves was a native of Brewton, AL and resided in Flomaton, AL for most of his life. He was of the Methodist Faith. He is preceded in death by his son, Ronald J. Graves, Jr.; parents, Grover and Cassie May Graves, Sr.; brothers, Leon Graves, Buford Graves, Lamar Graves and Robert Graves and a sister, Christine Dixon Rolin.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Lula Graves of Flomaton, AL; one son, Denver Graves of Flomaton, AL; three grandsons, Tanner Graves, Cole Graves and Mason Graves; one great grandson, Noah Graves and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Lynette Hepstall

Mrs. Lynette Hepstall, age 60, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020, in Mobile, Alabama.

Mrs. Hepstall was a native of Louisville, KY, former resident of Bay Minette, AL and had resided in Walnut Hill, FL for the past 13 years. She was the former owner of LJ’s Stop and Shop and she attended the Walnut Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Ray and Ethel Catherine Wilson.

She is survived by her two sons, Calvin (Katlyn) Jacobson of Bratt, FL and Clayton (Sarah) Jacobson of Bay Minette, AL; one daughter, Jennifer (Matthew) Reynolds of Walnut Hill, FL; two brothers, Quint (Sonia) Wilson of Century, FL and Dawson (Daphne) Wilson of Orangeburg, SC; three sisters, Jackie (Timmy) Bryars of Perdido, AL, Lenora (Danny) Grissett of Flomaton, AL and Michele (Jimmy) Burt of Nokomis, FL and five grandchildren, Camden Jacobson, Lilly Harper Jacobson, Tray Mosley, Maddox Reynolds and Maggie Reynolds.

Memorial services were held Monday, January 20, 2020, at the Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

Georganna June Tanta Smith

January 25, 2020

Born June 18, 1933, in Spirit Lake, Idaho, Georganna passed from this life on January 18, 2020, after a brief illness. She entered into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and her beloved sailor boy Kenneth Ray Smith of 64 years of marriage.

Georganna was a colorful person who loved life and loved people. She wore many hats in her lifetime and touched many lives. Georganna also known as “GG” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be truly missed.

A special thank you to First Baptist Church of Cantonment Senior Adults and Hillcrest Baptist Church Senior Adults. She had fond memories of the many senior mystery trips, holiday parties, bible studies and senior adult choir specials.

Left behind are her daughters, Debra (Eddie) Wells and Janet (John) Reithmiller of Pensacola, Florida; her son, David (Debbie) Smith of Tupelo, MS. Also, to cherish her memory are her eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Friday, January 24, 2020, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Reverend Pat Mobley officiating.

Interment was at Barrancas National Cemetery.

David Alan Flowers

Mr. David Alan Flowers, age 62 of Jay, Florida passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020, at home.

David was a loving son, brother, husband, Daddy, Paw-Paw, and friend to all that knew him. He loved to fish and taught his sons to fish. He also loved to keep his grandchildren and cook for them . He enjoyed vacations at Panama City at Miracle Strip and Shipwreck Island.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Ervin Flowers , Jr.; brother, Eddie Flowers; and grandparents, Ervin Flowers, Sr. and Ella.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty Flowers. He is also survived by his mother, Dorothy Flowers; two sons, Tracy (Alice) Flowers and Eric (Nikki) Flowers; four grandchildren, Heather, Zac, Izzie, and Michael. He is survived by his siblings, Larry Flowers, Kenny (Tina) Flowers, Edward Flowers, Susie (Tommy) Griffin, Alton (Emmie) Flowers, Calvin (Jennifer) Flowers, and Diane (Ray) Belanger.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at Jay Funeral Chapel with Dr. George Fredericks officiating .

Burial was at Cora Cemetery.

Jacqueline “Jackie” Anita Howington Jackson

Mrs. Jacqueline “Jackie” Anita Howington Jackson, 59, of McCurdy Street Flomaton, Ala. passed away Sat. Jan. 18, 2020, in a Pensacola, Fla. hospital after a brief illness. She was a native and former resident of Conecuh County, Ala. and a long time resident of Flomaton, Ala. Mrs. Jackson was of the Assembly of God Faith. A 1978 graduate of Repton High School, a former travel nurse and was an RN at Covenant Home Health. She loved her family, her job, and her patients.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Otha and Katie Lou Owens Howington: two brothers,  Shelton Howington and James Howington; a sister, Doris Booker.

She is survived by her son, Joey (Brandi) Williams of Excel, Ala; her daughter, Kelly Williams (Wayne) Coleman of Atmore, Ala; a step-daughter, Ashley (Wayne) Jackson of East Brewton; three sisters, Ann (Fred) Balkcom of Brewton,  Judy (Mack) Baggett of Excel, Ala. and Betty Burch of Flomaton; five grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday night Jan. 22, 2020 from 6PM until 8PM at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Thur., Jan. 23, 2020,  at 11AM  at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Darby officiating.

Interment will follow in the Flomaton Cemetery, Flomaton, Ala., with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing.
