Kenneth Ralph Jones

Kenneth Ralph “Kenny Ray” Jones, age 72, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020, in Poarch, AL. He was a native of Excel, AL and had resided in Poarch, AL for the past 46 years. He was born October 15, 1948, to Melba and Vernell “Sterl” Jones in Excel, AL.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith Allen McGhee; siblings, Tony Mac Jones, Douglas Jones, Annell Brooks and Carolyn Jaye.
He is survived by his former wife, Clara Jones, Poarch, AL; daughter, Suzi (Patrick) Graham of Port Charlotte, FL; son, Frankie “Boochie” Jones of Poarch, AL; sisters, Judy (Roy) Owen of Excel, AL and Brenda (Donnie) Johnson of Goodway, AL; brother, Tracey Jones of Excel, AL; eight grandchildren, James Huhman of Port Charlotte, FL, Stephan Graham of Fort Irwin, CA, Caleb and Joshua Graham of Port Charlotte, FL, Bailey Jones of Brewton, AL and Macey, Adilyn and Laikyn Jones of Poarch, AL and great grandson, Sterling Graham of Fort Irwin, CA.
He retired as a self-employed truck driver for Jones Trucking and currently operated his own mobile home park. He was an avid farmer and motorcyclist. He also had a lifelong love of horses and loved country living.

Funeral service were held Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tim James officiating.
Burial was at Excel Cemetery in Excel, AL.
Active pallbearers were Randy Fretwell, Jr., Tyler McGhee, Kevin Andrews, Xan McGhee, Corey Flowers and Aubrey “Tinker” Rolin.
Honorary pallbearers were Odell McGhee, Alex McMillian and Ronnie Jaye.

Mark Carpenter
January 5, 2021
Mark Carpenter, at the age of 59, passed away in a pedestrian vs. motor vehicle accident on December 30, 2020, in Pensacola, Florida. He was born in Oktibbeha County, Starkville, Mississippi on April 12, 1961, to his parents David Cresswell Carpenter and Olga Ann Thompson Carpenter. Mark lived his primary years in Clinton, Mississippi with his mother and stepfather. Growing up young, wild, and free, Mark and his older brother Tommy Carpenter eventually came to Pensacola to live near their father. The boys found a whole new family awaited them here and developed bonds that lasted a lifetime.
Mark worked as a surveyor and traveled extensively across the USA. He enjoyed traveling, exploring new places, fishing, and spending time at Pensacola beach. Mark had accepted Christ into his life and like many of us, wrestled daily with the failures of the past but he always maintained a hopeful outlook that things were going to get better any minute now. He enjoyed socializing and had a heart for the local homeless community. Mark had spent some of his time being homeless and shared stories and experiences of the people he met and their effect on him. He made friendships that would last.
He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, and mother.
He is survived by two sisters, his stepmother, one brother, six nephews, two nieces, and one son.
Sylvia Diane Barlow Elkins
January 5, 2021
Doll entered this world on March 17, 1949. Born to Walter and Bessie Barlow in Nokomis, Florida, she was number 15 of 19 children. As a child, she attended Davis School in Davisville, FL and Earnest Ward in Walnut Hill, FL. Being one who was called by her Daddy as his “China Doll” because of her beauty, the name stuck and still today is lovingly known as Doll.
She went on to marry Terry Elkins and birthed two daughters Erica (Donald) Little of Atmore, AL and Kimberly (Rodney) Johnson of Perdido, AL. The children really didn’t stop there as every one of their friends adopted her as their mother also calling her “Mom”. She has a host of nieces and nephews (of course she did, with 18 siblings!) and her close friend Peggy Moore of New Castle, KY had eight children who adopted her as their aunt also. She went by the name of Diane, who in a child language sounded like Di-nan. From that came the nickname Nanny. The name stuck when the grandchildren started to come along.
Grandchildren : Joshua Husband of Atmore, AL; Meredith (Mark) Morrow of Perdido, AL; Joseph (Whitney) Husband of Atmore, AL; Paul Lawson Jr of Foley, AL; and Matthew Lawson of LaGrange, KY. With the second marriage of Erica, she was able to gain another grandchild Kerven (Casey) Little of Pensacola, FL. Her grandchildren’s friends, like her children’s friends, adopted her as their Nanny also. So there are many “adopted” grandchildren not mentioned here.
Great grandchildren in birth order include Keegan Little of Pensacola, FL; Naomie Lawson of McDavid, FL; Mark Jr, Mia, and Marie Morrow of Perdido, AL; and Zayne Lawson of Foley, AL.
After living in KY for over 30 years, she retired and moved back to her hometown of Atmore, AL where she was a member of Nokomis Baptist Church. Her passions aside from spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren involved gardening. She often tended to her vegetable garden and multiple fruit trees and flower beds. In the yard was where she felt at peace. Now, as of New Year’s Eve, her peace is found in the arms of her Lord and Savior.
She is preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, two daughters, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and seven siblings: Walter “Tobe” (Bobbie) Barlow Jr of Shepherd, TX; Margaret Ann (Larson) Bryars of Perdido, AL; Judy Rathsack of Atmore, AL; Donald Barlow of Nokomis, FL; Frank “Dunky” (Shirley) Barlow of Nokomis, AL; Debbie Barlow of Nokomis, FL; Theresa “Reese” Barlow of Atmore, AL; and a special Sister-in-
law Jackie Barlow of New Caney, TX.
Visitation and funeral service will be held at Johnson Quimby Funeral Home.
The funeral will be Wednesday January 6, 2021, at 10 a.m.
Her pastor, James Hill, will be officiating the service.
The burial is to follow the service at Serenity Gardens in Atmore, AL.

Elizabeth Yonker Wilson
January 5, 2021
Elizabeth Yonker Wilson, age 78, a native of Pensacola, Florida, and a resident of Molino, Florida, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020, after a brief illness.
She was a faithful servant as a member of the First Pentecostal Church where she worshipped her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, she enjoyed being a door greeter to welcome fellow worshippers and visitors. She also loved participating in the Lady Bugs and attending ladies’ prayer groups. Elizabeth loved her role as Nannie to her three grandchildren who brought her great joy and happiness. She doted on them while instilling them with her Christian values, and it was with great joy she was anticipating the birth of her first great-grandchild in May.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest L. Yonker, and Mae Frances Hart, sisters, Frances Hart and Tamara Sublett and brothers, Ernie Yonker and Craig Yonker.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Bill Wilson, son, Ben Wilson (Lisa), one grandson, Gage, and two granddaughters Leigha (Daniel) Nielsen and Ellysia. She is survived by siblings Eddiemae (Bobby) Mason, Keith Yonker, Roger (Patsy) Hart, and Grady Hart and step-father, Roger E Hart.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2020, at 11 a.m., at the First Pentecostal Church, 6500 W Street, Pensacola, Florida.

Dewayne Williams

Dewayne was the first-born of the four children of Mavin and Brenda. He grew up mostly in and around the area of Pensacola, FL. He was an active
member of Dogwood Park Baptist Church. During his time in Dothan, AL, he was a valued member of the Chamber of Commerce, contributing in so
many ways to the community there.
Dewayne’s greatest loves were his Lord, who he served so well and faithfully, and his beautiful family. He adored his loving wife, Janice, and his
children and grandchildren. He was known for his great compassion for others. Not one single soul would want for comfort and love if Dewayne had
anything to do with it. Dewayne showed up for others whether they were going though a hard time or in order to celebrate them. You could always
depend on Dewayne, and you still can because he passed on these wonderful qualities to his own children.
Dewayne loved spending time with extended family, and especially delighted in playing with his grandchildren. He was known for singing Christmas carols all year long with that beautiful voice and loved playing games and selling tractors. He was an incredible asset to his employers throughout his life including his current employer, Smith Tractor Company in Atmore. Every stranger Dewayne met soon became a friend, including his customers. Dewayne’s great laugh could fill a room and did fill many hearts.
Dewayne, we will miss your presence here on earth. We are sure by now you have met most of the people in heaven who are now calling you their
friend.
Dewayne was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Willams, father, Mavin Williams, sister, Cindy Williams, father-in-law, Robert Cutler, and brother-in-law, Dennis.

Stanley B. Quimby

Stanley B. Quimby, age 69, of Brewton, AL, passed away on January 3, 2021. He was born on November 21, 1951, in Donaldsonville, GA to the late Walter and Ruby Burke Quimby.
He was a retired Assistant Principal with Escambia County Middle School and a member of Catawba Springs Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Sandra Lovelace Quimby.
He is survived by his wife, Pam Hambrick Quimby of Brewton, AL; his children, Ben Quimby (Brett Floyd) of Atmore, AL, Jon (Heidi) Quimby of Alexandria, VA, David Quimby of Atmore, AL, Joey Quimby of Atmore, AL, Matthew Quimby (Ambre Kelly) of Mobile, AL and Kaitlyn Hambrick of Rome, GA; his sister, Peggy (Donald Ray) Weaver of Atmore, AL; his grandchildren, Jonathan and Brooke Quimby and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A private family graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at McCullough Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating.

Ruth Harrell

Mrs. Ruth Harrell, age 81, of Flomaton, AL, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2020, at her home.
Mrs. Harrell was a native of Owassa, AL, and a lifelong member of the Flomaton community. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, Nana and nurse for 60 years. She had a servants heart and was community minded. Mrs. Harrell was a member of the Flomaton Lion’s Club, Escambia County Health Care Authority, Nursing Hall of Fame at the University of Alabama, and was on D.W. McMillan’s Hospital Board. She had been the Director of Alabama Public Health for Nursing in Montgomery, AL. Mrs. Harrell received numerous state, local, and national awards for her service to her community and caring for others. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Atmore, AL, and was preceded in death by her son, Marcus Jackson O’Gwynn.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Johnny Harrell of Flomaton, AL; brother, Bob Traweek of Houston, TX; sister, Joe (David) Nolin of Flomaton, AL; niece, JoLynn Gordon Godwin of Atmore, AL; nephew, Dave (Regina) Nolin of Flomaton, AL; great nephew, Nolin Godwin of Atmore, AL.
Services will be held by Mrs. Harrell’s family at a later date.

Gregory Lee Wiggins, age 63, of Atmore, AL passed away on January 1, 2021. He was born on March 4, 1957, in Atmore, AL to the late Oliver “A.C.” and Carolyn Steele Wiggins. He was a retired Chemical Engineer and a member of Mennonite Christian Fellowship.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nok Wiggins and his brother, Michael Wiggins.
He is survived by his daughter, Narisa Wiggins (Casey) Freeman of Atmore, AL and his sisters, Olivia (Franklin “Runt”) Bryan of Atmore, AL, Beth (Bob) Berry of TX, Peggy (Freddie) Hobbs of Atmore, AL, Jane (Holly) Bell of Atmore, AL and Sue (Jerry “Buck”) Sells of Poarch, AL.

Gary Gordon Diamond

Gary Gordon Diamond, walked the stairway to heaven into the presence of our Lord, on December 26, 2020. He was born, March 27, 1964, to Joseph Thomas “Tommy” Diamond and Frances Fulford. He was married to Cynthia J Edmondson, his high school sweetheart, for 38 years and resided in Molino, Florida, where they both grew up.
He was preceded in death by his father, “Tommy”, his grandmother, Lucille Diamond Stewart and his grandfather, Gordon Diamond, Aunt Faye Macks, uncles, Curtis, Louie and Billy Ray Diamond.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy, daughters, Erica Robbins,(Will) and Katelyn Diamond; and son, Joseph(Joey) Diamond; nine grand-children, Joseph,(JT ) Caleb, AliMae, David, Iyianna, Addyson, Bentley, Kali and Kynlee; aunts, Carol and Kathryn Diamond, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gary and Cindy were childhood friends who fell in love and got married in 1982. Soon after, he completed his military obligation with the U.S. Army, he began his amazing life with her. Cindy was his world. He was loving, caring and had a giving heart. As his children and grandchildren came, one by one his world grew bigger!
Gary found his second love of his life, as a firefighter, with the Molino Fire Department and then with the Navarre Beach Fire Department, working his way up to becoming the Volunteer Fire Chief then Captain at Navarre Beach Fire Dept.
Fishing, spending time with family and friends, at home and at “the river”, working at the Fire Department were just a few of Gary’s passions. He was a “HERO” to many and will forever be remembered as the one who sacrificed all he had to protect his family. He was the epitome of what a family man should be, as well as a husband, father, grandfather, friend and servant. He was a servant of God’s in the many ways he gave to others and did for others. I know that when Gary met the Lord, it was with the words; “Welcome home My true and faithful servant. Your days are done and now you can rest in peace.

Raymond Chavers

Raymond Chavers, 79 of Molino, FL passed away December 30,2020 at his home surrounded by his family.
Raymond was born in Century, FL on September 22,1941. He met and married the love of his life, Myra in 1960. They settled in Molino and lived there ever since.
Raymond’s lifelong occupation was building and carpentry. He worked on residential as well as commercial properties and went on to own his own construction company (Dream Builders), until he retired. He was sought after in his profession for his attention to detail. Raymond was quiet but enjoyed a good prank. He loved his grandkids and often spent time with them on nature walks, bringing them interesting bugs, frogs and the occasional snake! He loved to travel including a mission trip to Guatemala where he used his skill repairing the malnutrition center, and of course he could not resist the zip line excursion.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Myra of 49 years, parents Clarence and Nettie Chavers, sister Clara Creamer, and brothers Clarence Chavers Jr and George Chavers.
Raymond leaves behind three children, Ramona (David) Preston, Lisa (John) Weaver and Raymond Chavers Jr, five grandchildren Peyton Chavers, Krista Weaver, Randi Weaver, Ben Preston and Starla Weaver, sister Ann Chavers and brother John Chavers and numerous nieces and nephews.
