Clarence Arthur Hammonds

Clarence Arthur Hammonds passed away on Saturday, August 7th, after a long illness. He was born on February 22, 1943 in Flomaton, Alabama to Charlie Wade Hammonds and Emma Hammac Hammonds. He graduated from Flomaton High School. He married Wanda Morgan of Pensacola on August 24, 1977.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents and sister Helen Lister. He is survived by his wife Wanda and sons, Jason and Sandy, and brothers Bodie, Ray, Wade, Carl, and sister Vera Hall.
After high school, Clarence was employed by Brewton Iron Works, Brewton Alabama for about 5 years. After moving to Pensacola, he gained employment with Builder’s Ready Mix in Cantonment (now known as American concrete Supply) for over 40 years until his retirement. Mr. Billy Campbell, owner of American Concrete Supply was his mentor and father figure to Clarence whom he dearly loved. Mr. Campbell’s family was also his extended family. Mr. Campbell regarded Clarence as one of his most reliable and dependable employees with contractors specifically requesting Clarence for delivery to their jobsite. Clarence also enjoyed attending church with Mr. Campbell at the Beams of Light Holiness Church in Cantonment until his illness prevented him from doing so. Clarence was an avid University of Alabama football fan and loved watching the games with his family.
Active pallbearers are Noel Watkins, Jeff Morgan, Bill Lewis, Paul Brown, Larry Woodward, and Ed Brown. Honorary pallbearers are Jack Morgan, Bodie Hammonds, Ray Hammonds and Carl Hammonds.
Services will be held this Friday, August 13th at 2pm with visitation beginning at 1pm. Burial will be at the private sector of the Morgan Cemetery in Molino, Florida. Phillip Deane, pastor of Beams of Light Holiness Church will be officiating.
Jimmie Odell Self

On Sunday August 8th 2021, Jimmie Odell Self, loving husband, father, and grandfather, walked into God’s arms after 72 years of earthly life.
Jimmie was born on May 14, 1949 in Brewton, AL to Odell and Frances Self. He relocated to Pensacola, FL at the age of 14 and graduated from Tate High School in the class of 1967. He attended Jefferson Davis Junior College and Louisiana State University, New Orleans, where he was an excellent basketball player and star shooter. He spent the majority of his career at Escambia Molded Plastics.
Jimmie married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Debbie (Owen) Self on August 2nd, 1969. They had two daughters. They were married 52 years, celebrating their anniversary just a few days before his passing.
Jimmie loved sports, and especially golf and University of Alabama football. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and especially his grandsons, who each called him a different name…Grumps, Dumps, Dumpy, and Bumpy, respectively. He was known for his quick wit and for his protective love of his family. Jimmie was a member of Allen Memorial United Methodist Church.
Jimmie was preceded in death by Odell Self (father), Frances Self (mother) and siblings Gregory and Kathy. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, his two children, Shannon Self-Brown (Charlie) and Karyn Norris (Ben), his brother Danny Self and family [Mary Kaye Self (sister-in-law), Jessica Self (niece), Matt Self, (nephew)], Chris Ross (nephew), and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Baylor Brown, Eli Norris, Kamron Norris, and Zaine Norris.
A celebration of life is planned for August 21, 2021, at 10 a.m. at Allen Memorial United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Allen Memorial Methodist Church.

Katherine Wiggins gained her heavenly crown August 6, 2021. She was born in Moyeville on July 9, 1938. She was a seamstress at Vanity Fair Mills in Atmore until she eloped with her husband Sylvester Wiggins of Goodway. She enjoyed helping raise those grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Goodway.
Mrs. Wiggins is preceded in death by husbands John Thomas (JT) Kelly, Ingram Luker and Wendell Kelly, Sr. , her father George Franklin “Frank” Roberson and mother Nannie Ellen Burkett Roberson, and one brother Otha Roberson.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years David Sylvester Wiggins of Goodway, her son Terry “Steve” (Kimberly) Kelly of Atmore, stepsons Rodney (Carol) Wiggins
of Mobile, David (Elaine) Wiggins, Terry (Janice) Wiggins, and Melvin (Sissy) Wiggins, all of Goodway, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 11 at Petty Funeral Home in Atmore with visitation at 10am and service following at 11am., with Pastor Randy Davis officiating. Interment will be at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, FL. Pallbearers will include Brandon Wiggins, Koleman Wiggins, Kampbell Wiggins, Jessie Wiggins, Kyle Wiggins, Kelly Wiggins and Michael Roberson.
Calvin Myles, Sr.

Calvin Myles, Sr., 73, departed this earth on August 1, 2021, peacefully at his home in Stuttgart, Arkansas. He was born July 3, 1948, in Atmore, Alabama, the son of Lewis Williams and Annie Jewel Myles.
Calvin graduated from Century High School in Century, Florida. After graduation, Calvin joined the military and retired after 22 years of service to the United States Air Force with the rank of master sergeant. He was respected by all who worked with him for his attention to details, as well as his dedication and commitment to his country. Calvin married his sweetheart Rubye Mullins on November 14, 1971. Together they saw a bit of the world through his military assignments. During his military career, he professed his belief in Jesus and gave his life to Him including being baptized. He served in different capacities within the church to include Sunday school leader, Bible study leader, deacon and usher.
He leaves a legacy of honor, integrity, and love. Calvin was a soft-spoken man with a smile that was inviting to all who met him. He was a devoted husband, caring father and grandfather, servant of God and respecter of all persons.
In addition to his parents, Calvin was predeceased by his sister Hazel Myles and his brother Sam Myles. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Rubye and their five children: Leslie Davis (Joshua) of Cedar Hill, TX, Hope Graves (Keith) of Atlanta, GA, Calvin Myles, Jr. (Angela) of Bryant, AR, Lisa Albarado (Ernest) of Terrell, TX, and Matthew Myles of Addison, TX; grandchildren: Calvin, Cara, Christopher, Kourtnee, Catherine, Michaela, Calvin III, Kavon, Justen, Matthew Jr., Korey and Toviah; brothers: Willie Williams (Yolanda) of Florida, Leslie Williams (JoAnn) of Alabama, Johnnie Williams of Alabama, and Gary Myles of Florida; sisters: Ruby Mitchell (Calvin) of Florida and Eunice Luckie (Lewis) of Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews.

John David Loewen

John David Loewen was born January 31, 1947 to John and Sally Allen Loewen in Merced,
California. He peacefully departed this life early in the morning of August 4, 2021 at his residence
in Oakwood Manor, Brooksville, Mississippi, having reached the age of 74 years.
His first childhood home was in Merced, but owing to circumstances beyond his control, his
young world became fractured when his parents separated. When he was around age 10, he was
permanently taken in and raised by his paternal grandparents, Dave and Catherine Loewen, who
had moved some years earlier to Walnut Hill, Florida. His uncle Jim was like an older brother,
mentor, and even surrogate father at times, helping to mold his young life and teaching many
valuable skills and lessons for life. He resided in Walnut Hill nearly all his life until difficulties with
his health necessitated moving to Oakwood Manor in August of 2020.
He answered God’s call at age 16 and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ,
Mennonite by minister Wilbert Peters. He grew up in the same community as Barbara, the girl who
later became his wife, and they were married on a Friday evening, November 24, 1967. They shared
53 years of married life, and their home was blessed with four children—two sons and two
daughters—Pam, Michael, Faye, and Winston. In the earlier years of his married life, he searched
for a deeper understanding of God’s will for his life, and his search was rewarded with a greater
appreciation for spiritual things. His belief in the Church being his spiritual family increased as the
years passed.
He was a diligent worker and provided for his family with autobody repair and painting,
row-crop farming, and aquaculture. For much of his life, beginning even in his childhood, he
suffered from significant health issues, enduring numerous hospitalizations and multiple surgeries.
Despite these setbacks, he was not a complainer but rather forged ahead as his strength permitted
and worked to the best of his ability.
His personable nature coupled with his quick wit and sense of humor earned many dear
friends, and his attitude was an encouragement to many. Singing was special to him, and he enjoyed
quite a number of years singing tenor in a quartet with his friends. His life is an example of God’s
ability to create a valuable object from broken pieces, and this perhaps will be his most inspiring
legacy.
He will be missed and never forgotten by his wife Barbara, four children: Pam, Michael &
Lynette, Faye & James, and Winston & Renee together with their families; one brother Michael
and one sister Thalia, thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers-in-law:
Richard & Wilma and Lynn; two sisters-in-law: Alice & Norman and Virginia Koehn together with
their families.
Funeral service will be Sunday, August 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Walnut Hill Mennonite
Church in Walnut Hill, FL with Minister Galen Harms, Minister Mike Koehn and Minister
Wilbert Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Saturday, August 7, 2021 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Walnut Hill

Priscilla “Po Po” (Sarver) Lamb

Priscilla “Po Po” (Sarver) Lamb of Plattsmouth, NE, lost her battle with CNS lymphoma on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. She was born on January 18, 1946 in Allison Park, Pennsylvania to Cyril C. and Martha E. ( Hill ) Sarver. Priscilla was raised in Pennsylvania and graduated from Hampton High School in Hampton Township, PA in 1963. She later attended California State Teacher’s College in California, Pennsylvania and Beauty School.
She met Gerald David Lamb formerly of Cottage Hill, Florida, while he was attending the Mina Wanca 4-H Camp at Stony Lake in Shelby, Michigan. The two courted for several years before uniting in marriage
in July 26, 1969, in Deer Creek, Pennsylvania. While David served in the Air Force, they traveled around the Orient and extensively around the United States, before making their home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska. They celebrated their 52 nd wedding anniversary in July of 2021. Throughout her life, she cared for her family, enjoying attending the various activities that her children and grandchildren participated in throughout the years. She had a love for
music and enjoyed singing, playing the piano and participated in Christmas Cantatas at her church. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed attending musical productions and enjoyed shopping trips to places like Von Maur. Above all she was a wonderful mother and friend. Priscilla was a member of Midwestern Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, and previously taught Sunday School, worked in the Jr. Church and the nursery, as well as made sure that Sunday School rooms were clean and that the pews were kept straight and orderly.
She is survived by her husband, G. David Lamb of Plattsmouth, NE, children, Hugh (Bret) & Hilary Lamb of Trinidad, CO and their children, Taylor (Vynce) Francis, MaKayla, Preston, Tessa (Brendan) Sanders, and Bret, Martha (Joey) & Harold Layne of Plattsmouth, NE and their children, Abby & Audrey, Joshua & Wendy Lamb of Plattsmouth, NE and their children, Kaleigh (Nick) Cannady, Kohlten, Kobi, Kyler, Kycen

Joyce Elaine McConathy, age 71 of Pensacola, FL, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 26, 2021, in Phoenix, Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. Willie Roosevelt Bush and Mrs. Mollie Estelle Bush; four brothers, Cooter, Charles, Barney and Harold Bush; one sister, Evelyn Nelson and three grandsons, David Ellison, Russell O’Dea Jr., and Anthony Vaughn.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Mr. Arthur McConathy; her children, Kim Vaughn, Robert Vaughn, Michael Vaughn, and Jennifer Ness. She is also survived by the loves of her life, her 11 grandchildren, Scott, Kristan, Theresa, Robert Jr., Katie, Christopher (Autumn), X’Ander, Jaxson, Brianna, Corey (Jennifer) and Summer; and her 10 great-grandchildren, Skyler, Jaelyn, Gracelyn, Camden, Kayman, Cara, CJ, Caide, Paisley and Greyson.
Joyce leaves behind so many nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends who loved her dearly. She had such a loving heart and was known as Nana or Mom to all. She had a special place in her heart for Cathy Lorenzo, Teddy Lorenzo, and Randy Lorenzo (Christina) who looked to her as Mom all their life.
She loved to go to the Tennessee mountains on vacation. She also liked the outdoors, where she spent many occasions enjoying camping and fishing trips to nearby lakes. But she was always the happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends.

Mrs. Luverne Knowles, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 29, 2021, in Pensacola, Florida. She lived most of her life in the Flomaton, AL, area and a was member of Little Escambia Baptist Church.
Mrs. Knowles loved her family dearly and always valued the time she spent with them. She loved sitting on her front watching the birds, especially blue birds and humming birds. Those were her favorites of them all.
She could often be caught sitting around crocheting, cross stitching and sewing. She was an avid gardener and loved working in her flower garden. Back in the day at any given time you could find her in her shop “Laverne’s Ceramic Shop” making ceramics and painting them, something she always loved to do.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Henry Morris and Mrs. Mamie Odom Morris; two brothers, James Morris, Junior Morris; one sister, Lucille Conway; and, daughter-in-law, Krystle Knowles.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Edmond Knowles of Flomaton, AL; two sons, Larry Knowles (Teresa) of Brewton, AL and Marcus Knowles of Brewton, AL; two daughters, Debbie Simmons (Eddie) of Flomaton, AL and Lisa Knowles of Flomaton, AL; five grandchildren, Meredith Wolfe, Alayna Simmons, Nathan Knowles, Jack Knowles, and Alex Gatwood; four great-grandchildren, Scarlett Boutwell, Elias Wolfe, Grayson Najor, and Payton Gatwood; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Jonathon Hill and Rev. Larry Patterson officiating.
Burial was at Little Escambia Cemetery.

Johnnie Ruth Thomley Creighton

Johnnie Ruth Thomley Creighton of Pensacola, FL born June 25, 1943 went to rest in the arms of her Lord on August 1, 2021.
Johnnie loved the Lord and her family more than life. They were her World! She enjoyed family gatherings at her home where she made sure you had plenty to eat, and if you left hungry, well that was your fault. She was so full of love that she shined. Always had a smile and open arms to welcome you in. Johnnie will be truly missed for she was loved by so many. This is not goodbye, but a “see you in a little while”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Evelyn Thomley; husband, Elton Creighton, Brother I.J. Thomley; and son, Donnell Patterson.
Johnnie is survived by her sons, Dwayne (Cynthia) Patterson and Sebastian Patterson; brother, J.W. (Mary) Thomley; sister, Betty Ruth Enfinger; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
The family would like to thank Baptist Hospital SINU and Comfort Care for the love and help they provided for Johnnie.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM on Thursday, August 5, 2021 at New Beginnings Church of God, Molino Road, Molino, FL with Pastors Robbie Kolb and Alvin Kolb officiating. Johnnie will be laid to rest at Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery.
