Linda W. Hudson

Linda W. Hudson, age 60, of Oak Grove, FL passed away on September 17, 2021, in Pensacola, FL. She was born on May 18, 1961 in Fort Belvoir, VA to the late Donald and Florence Stefani Wright. She was a member of Cantonment Baptist Church and a homemaker who was dedicated to taking care of her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles Wright.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Hudson of Oak Grove, FL; her son, Ryan Hudson of Oak Grove; her daughter, Kim (James) Brown of Oak Grove; her brother, Larry (Mary Jean) Wright of Pensacola, FL; her grandchildren, Abby Brown and AJ Brown and her sister-in –law, Merry Wright.

Graveside services were held Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Oak Grove, FL with Rev. Will Stone officiating.

Interment was at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be James Brown, Josh Hudson, Justin Nichols, Edward Hudson, Terry Grey and Justin Hetrick.

Merle Harris Tolin

September 20, 2021

Merle Harris Tolin, born April 5, 1944; homegoing September 17, 2021.

Merle was born to Fletcher Alexander and Lula Dale Davis Harris.

She is preceded in death her parents; her husband, Herman E. Tolin; her children, Sheila Marie Tolin and Angie Marie Tolin and her siblings, Imogene Harris Brown and Robert Harris.

She is survived by her sons, Herman Roy Tolin and James Floyd (Tammy) Tolin of Atmore, AL; her grandson, James Benjamin “Bean” Tolin all of Atmore, AL; her siblings, Elbert Harris of Elberta, AL, Will Harris, Charles Harris, Ronnie Lee Harris and Larry (Patricia) Harris all of Goodway, AL; Ed (Patricia) Harris and James (Linda) Harris of Frisco City, AL; Clyde (Lindy) Harris of Monroeville, AL; Annie Harris and Mary Ann (Artie) Tillman of Fairhope, AL along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Bro. Clarence Rolin officiating.

Interment will follow at Mineola Cemetery in Mineola, AL.

Active pallbearers will be Tommy Davis, Terry Godwin, Larry Harris, Jason Dunn, Ed Davis and James Harris.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 24, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Gerald D. McBride

September 20, 2021

Gerald D. McBride, 71 of Walnut Hill, FL. passed away September 15, 2021, in Walnut Hill. He was born on June 15, 1950, to the late Bill Douglas and Lula O. Smith McBride. He served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church and served in law enforcement but was a wielder by trade.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters Bobby Taylor; Carolyn Mock and his first wife Linda McBride.

He is survived by his wife Gorma Barley McBride of Walnut Hill, FL; one son; Shawn (Carleen) McBride of Atmore, AL; Sandra McBride of Bay Minette, AL and his sister Patricia (Feldman) Frymire of Atmore, AL; five grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home with Rev. Ted Bridges officiating.

Interment was in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jim Steele, Earl Baldree, Austin Menchaca, Justin Whatley, Jerry Poulson and Matthew Reynolds.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Walnut Hill Baptist Church building fund at 5741 Arthur Brown Road, Walnut Hill, FL 32568.

Facial masks and the use of social distancing are optional but is recommended by the family due to the current health care crisis.

Dudley Frank Destin

September 19, 2021

Dudley Frank Destin, 82 of Cantonment, FL passed away on Friday, September 3, 2021.

He was born November 10, 1938 to the late Herbert and Pauline Destin in Cuthbert, GA.

Dudley was a member of Cottage Hill Assembly of God and volunteered numerous years of his time to the church when he was physically able.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Dallas Destin; daughter, Misty Holifield, son, Alvin Booth (Sonya): grandchildren: Clayton Harvey and Ashlee Harvey and beloved fur baby, Daisy.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North with Rev. Ron McGlothern officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 12 noon until service time.  Burial will take place in Cottage Hill Assembly of God Cemetery immediately following the service.

Jack Green

Mr. Jack Green, age 73, passed away, on Thursday, September 16, 2021 in Brewton, AL. He was a native of LaBelle, FL; and resided most of his life in Flomaton, AL. He retired finish operator and sat on the executive union board for Local 653.

Mr. Green valued his time with his family. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with his union buddies of the Local 653. He enjoyed fishing with his wife Gloria.

Mr. Green is preceded in death by his parents, Roy Lee (Lenora) Green, grandparents, Jack Alderman (Jessie Estelena) Green, one brother, four sisters, and father-in-law, Douglas Mack Evans.

Mr. Green is survived by his loving wife of forty years, Gloria Green, of Flomaton, AL; one son, Dylan Lee (Katherine) Green, of Mobile, AL; one daughter, Lacee Dalton (James) Reed, of Flomaton, AL; two brothers, Mike (Jeannie) Green, of Flomaton, AL; Bruce Green, of Cape Coral, FL; eight grandchildren, Kaelynn, Anna-Claire, Macee, Vivian “Gracie”, Lillee, Reagan, Clay, Savannah, one nephew, Dillon, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 20, 2021 at 3:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Eric Johnson officiating.

Burial will follow at Rigby Cemetery.

Mr. August Mohr Pace Jr, age 73, passed away, Thursday September 16, 2021 in Pensacola, FL. He was a native of Apalachicola, FL; but has lived most of his life in Century, FL. He was employed with Campbell Sand and Gravel as a Foreman, for forty-four years.

Mr. Pace valued the time he got to spend with his family, grandchildren, and friends. He loved hunting and fishing. He liked helping and taking care of people.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. August Mohr (Juanita) Pace Sr. two sons, Joseph Lavimoniere, Michael Lavimoniere, one grandson, Joshua Lavimoniere, one sister Betty Messer, two brothers, Charles Pace, Johnny Pace, and other relatives.

He is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Mary Lashley Pace , of Century, FL; two sons, Todd (Lisa) Pace, of Pensacola, FL; Richard Lavimoniere, of Chagrin Falls, OH; one daughter, Alva Enfinger, of Century, FL; one daughter-in-law, Rachael Lavimoniere, of Century, FL; two brothers, Reggie Pace, of Foley, AL; Gaston (Ann) Pace, of Perkinston, MS; two sisters, Patricia (David) Ventry, of Tallahassee, FL; Linda Richardson, of Panama city, FL; three grandchildren, Ashlyn Robinson, Miranda Enfinger, Chandler Enfinger, five great- grandchildren, Conner, Cain, Cason, Coen, Adelynn, host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Gay C. Hassebrock

September 15, 2021

Gay C. Hassebrock, surrounded by her family, peacefully passed on Monday, September 13, 2021, at the age of 74. She was born on July 14, 1947, and was a longtime resident of Molino, FL. Gay was preceded in death by her parents, Fred Lyle Cleaveland and Lois Grace Munson Cleaveland; brother, Lyle Fred Cleaveland; and sister, Bonnie C. Donaldson.

Born and raised in Foley, AL, Gay was an active member of the Foley United Methodist Church. She spent her high school summers as a lifeguard at the city pool. Gay was a 1965 graduate of Foley High School and went on to attend Huntingdon College. She later transferred to the University of West Florida where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Gay taught in both Santa Rosa and Escambia County school systems. Most of her 35 plus years were spent at Bratt Elementary School. Gay has been a member of Dogwood Park Baptist Church since the early 1980’s. Throughout the years, she was instrumental in organizing Vacation Bible School, as well as other church programs, and also served as the church Secretary and Treasurer. She attended a weekly women’s bible study in her pursuit to grow deeper in her faith. Gay was an avid reader, loved puzzles, movies, and Alabama football.
Gay is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Bennie Earl Hassebrock; daughters, Karla (Jamie) Bowlan, Brantley, AL and Brandy Bryan, Warner Robins GA; sons, Dean (Angela) Hassebrock and John (Sarah) Hassebrock, all of Molino FL; thirteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Dogwood Park Baptist Church, 3301 Highway 97, Molino, FL, with Pastor Phil Fischer and Pastor Russell Branch officiating. Burial will follow in Dogwood Park Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM prior to services.

Eugene Lacy Wheeler II

The family of Eugene Lacy Wheeler II, mourns the loss of a beloved husband, father, son , and best friend, who passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

Gene was born in Bratt, FL. on August 4, 1983. He graduated from Northview High School in 2001 and Bishop State Community in 2014. He worked as an Instrumentation and Electrical Technician at BASF in McIntosh, AL.

Gene’s favorite activities were hunting, fishing, family picnics, and spending time with his sons on the farm.

Gene was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas Henry and Lola Peebles, his grandfather Eugene Lacy Wheeler, and younger brother, Shawn Adam Wheeler.

Gene is survived by his wife of eight years, Anna Juck Wheeler, sons, Thomas Michael Wheeler, age five, and Dustin Eugene Wheeler, age two, parents, Tony and Becky Wheeler, relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held Friday, September 17, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Godwin Cemetery in Bratt, FL.

Pallbearers will be Robert Peebles, Derick Peebles, Jeremy Lisenby, Brandon Smith, Chantz Ziglar, Tyler Bozeman, and Erik Kirby.

Patricia McGill Cooper

September 15, 2021

Patricia McGill Cooper, age 80, passed away on September 4, 2021 in Pensacola, FL. She was born on March 17, 1941 in Perdido, AL to the late Reece S. and Ruth Vaughn McGill. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Atmore, a homemaker and a substitute teacher with Escambia County High School for many years.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Herbert L. “Dale” Cooper; her daughter, Kathy
Cooper Patrick and her brother, Lowell McGill.

She is survived by her son, David (Linda) Cooper of Augusta, GA; her daughter, Becky (Bruce) Gentry of Cape Girardeau, MO; her sisters, Glennes Hadley of Perdido, AL and Diane Weaver of Silverhill, AL; six grandchildren along with several great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Atmore, AL with Rev. Arnold Hendrix and Rev. Keven Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at Perdido Baptist Church Cemetery in Perdido, AL.

Active pallbearers will be Steve McGill, Mark McGill, Bryan McGill, Randy Hadley, Phillip Hadley, Tim Hadley, Adam Weaver and Dylan Johnson.

Robert Glenn Thrower, Sr.

September 14, 2021

Robert Glenn Thrower, Sr. passed peacefully in his home in Walnut Hill, Florida on Saturday morning, September 11, 2021. He was 85.

Glenn was born in Trenton, in Paint Rock Valley of Jackson County, Alabama. He and his parents, the late William Arthur Thrower and Lillie Myrtle Sanders, moved to Walnut Hill, Florida in 1948 and remained lifelong residents. Glenn is also preceded in death by two brothers, James Arthur Thrower of Section, Alabama and Hollie Wayne Thrower of Walnut Hill, Florida, and one sister, Mary Lucille Thrower Page of Scottsboro, Alabama.

Glenn inherited an appreciation for music from his mother, and played trumpet and trombone in the Ernest Ward High School marching band. He loved singing and harmonizing, and later played guitar and mandolin. As a child of the Space Age, Glenn was fascinated with science and chemistry. After studying at Pensacola Junior College, he began a 35-year career with Monsanto as a microscopist in the chemistry lab.

In 1961, Glenn had the good fortune of persuading Nina Gail Joiner to marry him. They shared a love of travel, historical research, fishing, gardening, and a sense of humor.  Glenn and Gail raised two children, the late Robert Glenn Thrower, Jr. (Tina) and Lori Ann Thrower Sawyer (Thomas) of Walnut Hill, Florida.

Glenn was proud of his children, and his grandchildren Rachael A. Thrower, Sara E. Sawyer (Daniel Wallace), Cheryl Thrower (Joey Nasser), and Sehoy Thrower.

Glenn served as a Sergeant in the National Guard Reserve. He enjoyed sports and playing golf. He was active in the church throughout his life and loved his church family wholeheartedly. A voracious reader, he could hold a lively conversation on almost any subject.

In 2011, Glenn’s wife Gail died after 50 years of marriage. Seeking renewed purpose, he and his daughter Lori began volunteering on archaeological excavations with the University of Alabama. Glenn cherished the five years he worked with his beloved ‘digging buddies’.

Glenn appreciated the tireless work of his Hospice chaplain, social workers and home health nurses. He was also grateful for the kindness and dedication of all his caregivers, most recently Sandra Stewart, Elizabeth ‘LeAnn’ Qualls, Ashley Paul, Cynthia Freeman and Miranda Lee.

Visitation will be from 6pm – 9pm Tuesday, September 14. A memorial service will be held at 10am Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home of Atmore, Alabama; with Rev. LaDon Hall and Rev. James Stickle officiating.
