William “Stony” Calloway

November 8, 2021

William “Stony” Calloway, age 83, of Pace, Florida, born September 8,1938, passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Friday, November 5, 2021. He was surrounded by family and supported by friends.

Stony attended and graduated from Fairhope High School Class of 1958 where he was the Captain of the Football Team and star Running Back. He was retired from Monsanto of Pensacola after 32 years of service as a Project Engineer. Stony also served eight years in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Pace Assembly of God Church where he served on the Board of Directors. Stony was a charter member of the Pensacola Bass Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting, and sports.

He was the oldest of five children born to Alfred and Louise Calloway; three brothers, Jim Calloway, Hardy Calloway and Dave Calloway; and a sister, Betty Calloway.

Stony is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Louise Calloway; and two brothers, Jim Calloway and Hardy Calloway.

Stony is survived by his wife, Joan Herrage Calloway, of 60 years of marriage; two children, Cindy (Patrick) Nooner and Billy (Kim) Calloway; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at Pace Assembly of God Church, in Pace, Florida, with Rev. Joey Rogers and Rev. Glenn Lowery officiating. Burial will follow services at Elizabeth Chapel Community Cemetery, with Lewis Funeral Home directing.

Visitation will follow services 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.

Edmund L. (Buddy) Kyser

November 7, 2021

Edmund L. (Buddy) Kyser, age 72, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2021 at his home in Atmore, AL.

Buddy was born in Atmore, AL where he was a resident for most of his life. He loved the Lord and was a member of True Hope Fellowship. Buddy enjoyed gardening, hunting and fishing, watching Alabama football, and swinging on the patio with his dog, Duke. He was known for being able to build or fix anything.

Buddy was preceded in death by his father and mother, James Edlow and Augustine Presley Kyser, both of Atmore, AL and his sister, Betty Kyser Pruett of Atmore, AL.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Annette Luker Kyser of Atmore, AL; two sisters, Judy Kyser Young of Foley, AL and Joan Kyser Lolley of Mobile, AL; two daughters, Sherra Kyser (Michael) Shivers of Dothan, AL; Kynda Kyser (Teddy) Walker of Atmore, AL; and one son, Jarrod Edmund Kyser of Atmore, AL; three grandchildren, Kalynn Marie Johnson of Atmore, AL; Lani Michell Shivers of Dothan, AL; and Michael Steven Shivers, Jr. of Dothan, AL.

Visitation will be Monday, November 8, 2021, at 1 pm at Petty Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm with Bro. Jake Bondurant officiating. Graveside services will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jarrod Edmund Kyser, Michael Steven Shivers, Sr., Michael Steven Shivers, Jr., Teddy Walker, Jr., Thomas E. Miller, and Tony Rayo Luker.

Dennis Wayne Nichols

November 5, 2021

Dennis Wayne “Boogar” Nichols resident of Pensacola, FL passed away on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the age of 65. He was born in Escambia County, AL on August 6, 1956 to the late Edward Chester Nichols and Cora Lee Nelson Nichols.

Dennis was a hard worker. He worked for Penrod Oil Company as a “Roustabout” meaning he did it all. He had a special relationship with his grandchildren and spent as much time with them as he could. He had a green thumb, loved dancing, dogs and horses. Dennis was even a horse jockey in his younger years. He would spent hours telling stories about the “Good Ole Days”.
Dennis brought joy to everyone he ever met or came across. He will be missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Tamara Kaye Nichols; parents; brother, Samuel “Sammy” Nichols; and three sisters, Mickey Diane Roley, Susan Nichols, and Shirley Faye Nichols.

Dennis is survived by his daughter, Ashley Mathis; son, Kevin Nichols; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one sister, Lisa Lee.

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Gonzalez Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Godwin Cemetery, Bratt, FL.

The family will receive friends at 10AM prior to services.

Edward Lamont Davis

Edward Lamont Davis, age 65, of Century, FL passed away on October 24, 2021. He was born on December 26, 1955 in Biloxi, MS to Walter Levon and Mary Anne Pruett Davis.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Steve Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Rosa Ramirez Davis; his sons, Edward Lamont “Eddie”(Tessa) Davis of Perdido, AL, Scott (Tabitha) Davis of Poarch, AL, Andrew (Marsha) Davis of McCullough, AL and Jeremy Davis of Bay Minette, AL and his sisters, Eula (Steve) Jones of Orange Beach, AL and Nancy (Miguel) Espino of Kansas City, MO.

No formal services are scheduled at this time.

Edward Lee Wells

November 4, 2021

Edward Lee Wells, age 70, peacefully succumbed to an expeditious bout with cancer in the early morning hours on October 29, 2021.

Edward, known as Eddie, was born in Pensacola, attended Beulah Elementary, Bellview Middle, and graduated from Tate High School.

After high school Eddie enlisted in the United States Army and served in Vietnam. After his military tour, Eddie worked for CSX Transportation for 38 years constructing and maintaining bridges.

Eddie and his family attend Hillcrest Baptist Church. The church cart ministry provided Eddie with years of loving friendships. His senior adult Men’s Sunday School Class provided Eddie and Debra with prayers and thoughtfulness during his short illness that cannot be measured in words or deeds.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Wells and Odie Atkinson Wells.

Edward is survived by his wife of 47 years, Debra; his children, Clint, Kenny (Dominique), Clay, Kelly Anne (Chase) Davis; grandchildren, Capp, Coy, Sidnii, Caden, and Tobias; sister, Pat (Bill) Moyer; brother, Terry (Michella) Wells; brother-in-law, David (Debbie) Smith; and sister-in-law, Janet (John) Reitamiller.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Pastor Jim Locke officiating.

The family will received friends on Thursday, November 11, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the church in the North West Hall.

Burial will follow in Barrancas National Cemetery at a later date.

Charles W. Rutherford

November 3, 2021

Charles W. Rutherford, age 89, passed away on November 3, 2021 in Atmore, AL.  He was born on February 29, 1932 in Atmore, AL to Curry Webster and Mattie Lambert Rutherford.  He retired as Fire Chief from the City of Atmore after 45 years of service.  After retiring, he served as a Dispatcher with Poarch Police Department.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two children, Wayne Rutherford and Terri Anderson; his siblings, Opal Faircloth, Gene Rutherford, Luree Spence, Clarence Rutherford and Bill Rutherford.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Deborah Maddox Rutherford; his daughter, Kristina Rutherford of Atmore, AL; his brother, Dale (Brenda) Rutherford of Atmore, AL; his sister, Glenda (Autrey) Ziglar of Robinsonville, AL; his grandchildren, Chris Rutherford, Brandi Rutherford, Elijah Kimbrel, Noah Kimbrel and Makennah Kimbrel along with his great grandchildren, Wyatt Rutherford, Melea Graham, Rowdy Rutherford and Sophia Rutherford.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Gehman officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Atmore, AL.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 6, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.

Nelda Grace Brown

November 3, 2021

Nelda Grace Brown, of Atmore, Alabama, peacefully passed away in her home, surrounded by
family and friends, Tuesday, October 19th, 2021. Nelda was born in Repton, Conecuh County,
AL to Carl Hubert, Sr. and Artie Missey McIntyre Brown, October 29, 1933.
Nelda graduated from Escambia County High School, Atmore, AL. Afterwards, she attended
Florida State Hospital School of Nursing in Chattahoochie, FL.  Following nursing school, Nelda
served our country in military service with the United States Air Force.  Nelda enjoyed a long
and successful career in nursing, working with Charity Hospital, New Orleans, LA, Greenlawn
Hospital, Atmore, AL, Dr. Fred Jones and Dr. Leonard Travis of the Women’s Clinic of Mobile,
AL, and working as a public health nurse and local administrator with the State of Alabama,
Escambia County Health Department in Brewton and Atmore, AL, and as a home health nurse
with the Daughters of Charity, Seton Home Health Services. In her career, Nelda enjoyed most,
caring for those in her community and often shared fond memories of relationships with her
colleagues, patients and their families.
Nelda was an avid fan of Elvis Presley, could shoot darts like no other, and spent many favorite,
relaxing and rejuvenating days with family and friends at Hubbard Landing, fishing, be it from
the pier or, among the cypress trees found on the miles and miles covered on the Mobile-Tensaw
Delta.
She is preceded in death by her parents and, sisters, Helen B. Ross and, Betty Joyce Brown,
brother, Carl Hubert Brown, Jr, sons Donald Franklin Schell, James Patrick Schell, niece Patricia
Hall McKinley, nephews Randall Harvey Ross and, Richard Heron Ross. Nelda is survived by
her sister, Hazel Brown Hall, daughters, Angela Grace Schell and Patricia Ronkartz Schell,
Nelda Denise Quintanilla, Valerie Nicole George and Evan Boone William Bernard,
grandchildren, Samantha Alyse Ronkartz, Ronald Joseph Ronkartz, Aidan Carlin Edmondson
and, Tara Maria Grace Quintanilla, nieces and nephews, Ronald and Marcella Ross, Terry and
Linda Jones, Mike and Cathy Hall Phillips, Gregory McKinley, and many second nieces and
nephews.  
All are welcome to share in a gathering to remember Nelda’s birthday on Friday, October 29,
2021, at Hubbard Landing, for a picnic and pier fishing from 1:00 PM to sunset.
Nelda’s family will receive family and friends for a Celebration of Life, Saturday afternoon,
November 6, 2021, 2:00-4:00, at the First United Methodist Church in Atmore,

Erbie “Buddy” Lee White

Mr. Erbie “Buddy” Lee White, age 72, passed away, Tuesday, November 2, 2021 in Pensacola, FL. He was a lifelong resident of Flomaton, AL.

Mr. White valued the time he got to spend with his family, especially the grandchildren. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching Alabama Football and Atlanta Braves Baseball.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Narvie (Agnes Bell) White, one sister, Earline Howell.

He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Vernia White, of Flomaton, AL; two sons, Kenneth (Brandy) White, of Byrneville, FL; Justin White, of Flomaton, AL; one daughter, Candice (Chris) Thornton, of Brewton, AL; one brother, Donald Graves, of Gulf Port, MS; two sisters, Carolyn Griffin, of Winnfield, LA; Louise Harwell, of Century, FL; five grandchildren, Aleigh Thornton, Jayden White, Kinley White, Beckett White, and Brayden White, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Petty- Eastside Chapel Funeral Home LLC with Rev. Glenn Johnson and Rev. Chip Barber officiating.

Burial will follow at Traveler’s Rest Cemetery.

Regina “GiGi” Melissa Moye Hare

Regina “GiGi” Melissa Moye Hare, 52 of Walnut Hill, FL, passed away October 30, 2021, in Walnut Hill, FL. She was born in Pollard, AL, on June 30, 1969. She was a food service manager for Ernest Ward Middle School and Northview High School. Mrs. Regina was known for her selfless, loving, free and adventurous spirit, and she never met a stranger.

She is preceded in death by her father James C. (Peggy) Moye and her mother Merlene (Dale) Forbes.

She is survived by her husband James Hare of Walnut Hill, FL;. two sons Christopher Hare of Pensacola, FL, and Casey (Kristi) Hare of Mobile, AL; and two grandchildren Braylee Hare and Braxton Hare; four brothers Richard (Pam) Moye of Bay Minette, AL, Rondel (Karen) Moye of Sharon, SC, Robert (Janice) Moye of Bratt, FL, Tony (Kim) Lambert of Satsuma, AL; and sister Debra Thrower of Atmore, AL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 2 p.m. at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Greg Looney officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Dan Cornelius Carnley

Mr. Dan Cornelius Carnley, age 80, passed away, Wednesday, October 27, 2021 in Pensacola, FL. Mr. Carnley was born in Jay, FL; and has lived most of his life in Bogia, FL. He founded in 1982 and operated Carnley Electric for Thirty-nine and half years.

Mr. Carnley was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved bowling, playing softball, and football. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Mr. Carnley is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pink Holly (Gladys Carnley) Carnley, wife, Mary Ann Carnley, one daughter, Belinda Lynn Carnley, one granddaughter, Katie Potoczek, six brothers, Glenn Carnley, Floyd Carnley, Horace Carnley, Lenell Carnley, L J Carnley, Doug Carnley, three sisters, Jeanette Morris, Thelma Petty, and Mae Smith Owens.

Mr. Carnley is survived by his two daughters, Teresa (Kevin) Davis, of Pensacola, FL; Pam (Jeff) Potoczek, of Century, FL; one brother, Franklin “Shorty” Carnley, of Davisville, FL; three grandchildren, Ryan Chavers, Lucas Chavers, Joel Baldree, six step- grandchildren, seventeen great- grandchildren, a special friend, Donna Brannen, a longtime family friend, Dana Stevens, two former sons in laws, Randy Chavers, Mose Baldree, other relatives, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 31, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes LLC with Rev. Fredrick Barrow officiating.

Burial will follow at Cora Cemetery.
