Kittens Rescued From Pipe In Molino

Several kittens rescued from a pipe in Molino Monday afternoon are doing well and have new homes in their future.
Following a minor traffic crash at the Tom Thumb on Highway 29 at Highway 97, first responders heard meowing coming from an overflow pipe for a retention pond.
Florida Highway Patrol trooper Aaron Acker and Molino Fire Department volunteer Drew Manning rescued the kittens from the pipe with a little help from Manning’s mom.
Manning took the kittens home and bathed them. We’re told they are now eating well and playing.

Molino Park Fifth Graders Visited Environmental Center. And Met A Big Snake.

Fifth grade students from Molino Park Elementary School visited the Roy Hyatt Environmental Center Tuesday. They entered the planetarium “blasting off” into space studying the solar system. They also used microscopes to study the flow of energy through an aquatic ecosystem observing a microscopic food chain in a drop of pond water. And they met Todd the Florida king snake. The annual Molino Christmas Parade was held Saturday morning on Crabtree Church Road. After the parade, Santa Claus met with lots of good boys and girls at the Molino Ballpark.
Sponsored by the Molino Recreation Association, proceeds from the parade are used to benefit needy children in the Molino area during the Christmas season.

Bratt, Jim Allen And Molino Park PATS Classes Provide Christmas Cheer Around The World

The Program for Academically Talented Students (PATS) classes at Jim Allen, Molino Park and Bratt Elementary schools made a real difference this holiday season through Operation Christmas Child. They worked hard to fill 42 shoe boxes with school supplies, hygiene necessities and toys. Jim Allen Fifth Graders Decorate Escambia Sheriff’s Office Christmas Tree

Fifth grade students from Jim Allen Elementary School decorated the Christmas tree in the lobby of the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday.
It’s an idea that started with Jim Allen’s school resource officer. Over the last few weeks , the students worked to create the handmade ornaments to trim the tree.

“We’ve got some folks that the holidays are a huge deal at the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. They are people that, guess what, reach out to our community. So, when we can draw the school systems into this, itjust makes it that much better,” Sheriff Morgan says.
This was the first year students have decorated the ECSO tree, but Morgan says they will invite the students back year.
The Jim Allen students also got a behind the scenes tour of the ECSO including the dispatch center, and they also saw a K-9 demonstration and met the people and horses of of the mounted posse.

Farm City Week Thanksgiving Meals Distributed To 800 Families

About 800 Thanksgiving meals were distributed to Escambia and Santa Rosa County residents Tuesday as part of Farm City Week.
The meals were distributed to 400 pre-registered applicants at the Waterfront Rescue Missing in Pensacola and 400 at the Milton Community Center.
FFA members, Boy Scouts and other volunteers from Escambia and Santa Rosa counties worked Monday worked to harvest fresh items for the meals Monday. They harvested produce including turnips and cabbage, bagged sweet potatoes, grits and cornmeal.

The produce was paired with all of the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal from Feeding the Gulf Coast. The University of Florida/IFAS Extension Service was also in attendance to demonstrate how to prepare and cook the produce being distributed, as well as how to can fresh produce.
National Farm to City Week is a national effort to bring about a better understanding between rural and urban people by increasing knowledge and appreciation for agriculture.
