Destiny Cleckler, 13, was named Miss Ernest Ward Middle School Friday night in “Night in Holleywood” pageant at the school
Third runner-up was Morgan Lathan, second-runner up was Ashtyn Carnley, and first runner-up in the annual pageant was Ashlan Harigel.
Other awards presented were: Miss Congeniality Gabrielle Kline, Miss Personality Ashlan Harigel, Physical Fitness award Gabrielle Kline, Poise and Appearance award Ashlan Harigel, and People’s Choice award Emily Stabler.

32 To Compete In ‘Miss EWMS’ Pageant Friday Night

Friday night, 32 young ladies will compete for the title of Miss EWMS.
Tickets are available in advance for $5 for adults, $3 for elementary students. At the door, all tickets will be $6. The pageant begins at 7 p.m.

Northview Congratulates Escambia Teacher Of The Year Anna Barry

Northview High School welcomed Escambia County Teacher of the Year Anna Barry back to work Tuesday morning. Teachers, staff and faculty held a small reception for Barry prior to the start of school.
Barry was named Escambia County Teacher of the Year last Thursday night, just a few hours before she departed on a school field trip to Orlando. Tuesday was her first day back in the classroom after returning late Monday night.
Barry is the first county teacher of the year from Northview. She is now in the running for Florida’s teacher of the year award.

A Century That Lasts Forever — Town Slogan Winner Awarded

Manna, Rotary Clubs Team Up To Create Nearly 80,000 Meals For The Hungry

The Combined Rotary Clubs of Pensacola (CROP) were joined with Manna Food Bank Saturday. The Fourth Annual Rotary Against Hunger Project resulted in 79,413 meals being packed for the hungry in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.
Over 300 volunteers took part in Saturday’s event, with each of the area’s 12 Rotary Clubs represented.

The Rotary Against Hunger project has become a critical part of our ability to meet the needs of the hungry throughout the year in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties,” said to MANNA Executive Director DeDe Flounlacker. “This project provides much needed food during the Winter and early Spring when donations are always low, and need is always high. Last year, MANNA provided assistance to 32,686 people, including 11,740 children. These are your neighbors and mine – folks who are the working poor, grandparents raising their grandchildren, moms and dads who do not have enough money to pay their bills and buy food for their family. Thanks to Rotary, thousands of people will be helped this year through this gift of nutritious food.”
“By teaming up with Manna, we can insure that these meals will be distributed in a manner that will serve the needs of many families in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties,: said Ed Carson, Rotary Against Hunger Project chair. “Through this project, Rotary is striving to exemplify Service Above Self, the Rotary motto.”

Tate High Drama To Host Dessert Theater Saturday Night

The Tate High School Drama department will host an entertaining dessert buffet Saturday night at 7:30 in the school cafetorium.
The performances will include all of the individual events that went to a recent district drama festival, followed by this year’s one-act entry, “High School Reunion”. While guests are being entertained, they can enjoy the goodies from buffet of fine desserts.
The show and all-you-can-eat desserts are just one price – $8.

Annual Walnut Hill Ruritan Farm Auction Is Saturday

The 41st Annual Walnut Hill Ruritan Club Farm Equipment Auction will be held this Saturday, February 28 beginning at 9:30 a.m.
The auction includes not only farm equipment, but also household items like tools and small equipment, lawn and garden items, antiques and more. Items can be received Thursday or Friday. A $5 lot fee will be charged. Must be present to “no sale” items.
Settlement must be made the day of the sale; unknown buyers must have cash, cashier’s check, major credit card, or a letter of credit from their bank. Items must within 24 hours.
Concessions will be available all day from the Ruritan Club.
The sale will be located at the Walnut Hill Community Center on Highway 97 just north of Ernest Ward Middle School.

FFA members at Northview High School are celebrating National FFA Week with a variety of events.
Tuesday morning, the FFA officers and members prepared a homestyle breakfast for teachers, staff and invited guests that support the FFA program. Northview’s FFA program has been recognized as one of the top chapters in both the state and the nation.

Tate, Northview Band Students Earn High Ratings At Districts

Over 100 Northview and Tate high school band students were awarded excellent and superior ratings recently at the Solo and Ensemble Music Performance Assessments at Gulf Breeze High School.
State qualifying soloists and groups are indicated below with an asterisk (*). These students will take part in the state solo and ensemble assessments March 23-24 in Gainesville. To qualify for state, the students were required to perform a Grade 5 or higher and earn a Superior rating at the district level.
