Thousands of people attended the annual Atmore Twilight Christmas Parade Monday night.

The parade featured lighted floats, twirlers, antique cars, bands, marchers, Santa Claus and more.

The parade was rescheduled from Saturday night due to rain.

Company Donates Bicycles To Bratt Elementary Students

December 11, 2018

Instead of a traditional Christmas party, one area telecommunications company decided to give back, building bicycles for over a dozen children at Bratt Elementary School.

“We wanted to give back to the community where our employees reside so instead of a traditional company holiday party we partnered with Build A Bike for a day of employee team building activities and good food,” John Heathcock, senior director of customers service at Impact Telecom in Atmore, said. “At the end of the day we collectively built 14 bikes.”

The company also donated new helmets along with the bicycles as part of the their corporate “give back” project.

Let The Tate Band Help With Your Gift Wrapping

The Tate Band Showband of the South will be wrapping gifts for donations at Walmart on Highway 29 in Ensley through Christmas Eve. Look for the big white tent near the entrance.

A Magical Miracle League Christmas Night At Tate High School

December 8, 2018

It was a magical Christmas night Friday at Tate High School for some very special guests.

Several groups held a Christmas party for the players of the Miracle League. There were games that include an indoor snowball fight, crafts, visits with Santa, two Christmas skits, and dinner.

The event was sponsored by the Tate High Beta Club with help from the yearbook staff, Diamond Girls, ASL (American Sign Language) Club, STUCO, Drama Club and Community Care Givers.

Barrineau Park Historical Society Donates $500 To Ernest Ward Middle

The Barrineau Park Historical Society has donated $500 to Ernest Ward Middle School.

Ernest Ward agriculture teacher Cynthia Wilson submitted a grant application to supplement expenses for animal care.

There are  160 students in the ag program at Ernest Ward. The Barrineau Park Historical Society is a Partner in Education with Ernest Ward Middle.
