Salzman To Host Constituent Services Day On Friday Along With Multiple Officials, Agencies

March 14, 2024

The office of Florida Representative Michelle Salzman, in partnership with local, state, and federal officials will host in-person mobile office hours to assist constituents with casework issues.

The Constituent Services Day will be held Friday, March 15 from 2:30 p.m.to 4:30 p.m. at 275 W Airport Blvd, Unit B, in Pensacola.

“I am excited to host this upcoming community outreach event. It gives elected officials the wonderful opportunity to reach out to our constituents and help with their government related issues,” Salzman said.

These office hours offer constituents who do not live close to one of the district offices a more convenient way to receive county, state, and federal casework assistance.

Staff will be present from the offices of Salzman, Congressman Matt Gaetz, Senator Marco Rubio, Escambia Commissioner Lumon May, and ECUA.

In addition to elected offices, the event will host several personnel from the Pensacola VA Clinic, including VA Whole Health and VA Women Veteran Services, along with the Pensacola Vet center and Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs.

Flood Warning Extended Until Sunday For Escambia River Near Century

A flood warning hast been extended for the Escambia River near Century until Sunday afternoon Minor flooding is forecast.

Tuesday night, the stage was 17.1 feet. The river is foreast to hold steadyat 17.1 feet through Thursday morning. It will then rise to a crest of 17.7 feet Friday morning. The river willthen begin a low fall below flood stage Sunday afternoon.

At flood stage of 17 feet, considerable flooding of lowlands occur. At 19.0 feet, low lying pastures will flood forcing cattle to be be moved to higher ground.

Flood Warning Issued For The Escambia River Near Century

March 10, 2024

A flood warning is in effect for the Escambia River near Century until Wednesday morning. Minor flooding is forecast.

Saturday night, the stage was 14.5 feet. The river is expected to rise to a crest near 18.2 feet Monday evening. It will then fall below flood stage early morning.

At flood stage of 17 feet, considerable flooding of lowlands occur. At 19.0 feet, low lying pastures will flood forcing cattle to be be moved to higher ground.

The Perdido River near Barrineau Park is expected to crest at 9.1 feet on Monday, just above action stage of 9.0 feet. Minor flood stage for the Perdido River is 13 feet. Saturday night, the stage was at 7.18 feet.

Don’t forget to “spring forward” and set your clocks ahead one hour before heading off to bed Saturday night. Daylight saving time begins Sunday, making use of longer summer days, allowing people to rise early and spend more of the day working or playing.

It’s also a good time to remember to change the batteries in your smoke alarm.

Daylight saving time ends November 3, unless that’s changed by Congress.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio has said repeatedly the practice of “falling back” as daylight saving time an antiquated process that should come to an end. They say year-round DST would reduce car crashes, reduce crime, improve physical fitness, reduce energy use and benefit agriculture. Read more…
