West Florida Beats Tate

September 17, 2011

The West Florida Jaguars improved to 3-0 with a 42-7 win over the Tate Aggies Friday night in Pensacola.

Tate’s only score of the night came on a pass from David Moorhead to Bryce Andrade — the first score of the season for the Aggies. After taking the 7-0 lead in the first quarter, it was all downhill for the Aggies.

The Tate Aggies (0-3) will be at the Escambia Gators next Friday night, while West Florida will be on the road at Bay High School.

As a player I know first hand what the real problem is with the program. It is not Rigby or the coaches. It is the student body. We may have over 2,000+ students but that doesnt mean that we have 2,000 football players. The coaches can only do so much with what they have. They put the players in the right places but the execution is not there. Rigby is not the issue here people. It is the players.

This year West Florida just has so much more talent and it was evident watching the game. The coaches at Tate are very good and you can put good talent on the field as well but the players must play the game. West Florida is 3-0 now and if they continue to win with what they have then you will simply know. Navarre High school is in the same boat and when they opened a few years ago they were getting the mess kicked out of them too. I am not a fan of either of these teams but i do know good talent when I see it and when it’s being used properly. Tate just does not have enough “Horses” this season!

should have hired Mike Bennett when they had a chance

Gilmore hasn’t been the Athletic Director for months. He stepped down and Venettozzi is now the AD. I agree that Rigby should step down. The players, parents, students, faculty and alumni deserve better.

Boyd is now the head golf coach, maybe he is making a move for football too? Can’t have worse record than where we are at now. It is a shame to see boys with some talent fall to lazy coaching (baseball and football both)

West Florida hasn’t really ever had a good football team until this year. I’m glad to see them come out on top. I think this is good for a “smaller” school. Go jags!

I feel so bad for the student body at Tate.. Most of them will and have had to endure four years of failure in their football team. I went to Tate in the 70’s and there was so much school pride at the football games. It’s time for a change in the coaching staff……sad…..

As long as they keep the current Athletic Director the sports programs will continue to go down the tube, as if they can get much lower. Start with Gilmore and clean house. no other local school has the booster support like tate sports and the students deserve better from faculity.

I know those boys work hard so maybe its time for a change. But me personally,I dont come to watch the game i come for the halftime show! THE SHOWBAND OF THE SOUTH always puts Tate on the map!

PITIFUL……The spirit of TATE is slowly going away. What a great community, student body & alumni fans. I dont get it. May i ask what Boyd(ex-baseball coach that finally recognized and stepped down) was doing on the field with Rigby. I can only hope he was telling him to do the same thing. I keep hearing the cries for MADISON to come back but he would never even consider it if Rigby is still there. I wonder why??????????? I know why!!!!!!

    Tate deserves better than this!!!!

Might be time to replace Coach Rigby. His focus seems to be on the quantity of players, not the quality of coaching. He brags about having 140+ players on the teams, but their performance is subpar at best. I don’t blame the kids, they are playing to the best of their ability, but mediocore coaching is leaving a real sour taste in their mouths.

How many years of Losing is it gonna take before they Change the Tate football coaches? Its simply embrassing!

I remember when Tate kicked butt back in the 1960’s and 70’s. Where did Carl Madison go? My how the years pass and we get old….. Back then we did not have Xboxes, boom boxes, internet, I-phones, cable, and all the other distractions.

Sad as Tate had a superior football program years ago.
