Woman Charged With DUI In Highway 97 Crash

May 29, 2018

A woman has been arrested in connection with an early morning crash Monday on Highway 97.

Connie Mae Henderson, 63, was charged with DUI with property damage. She was released from the Escambia County Jail on a $1,000 bond.

About 1:10 a.m., Henderson was northbound on Highway 97 just north of Tungoil Road when she ran off the roadway, struck a power pole and continued through a ditch. She refused medical transport after the crash.

The pole was broken off near ground level, downing power lines. Escambia River Electric reported 52 customers lost power following the crash.

The Walnut Hill Station of Escambia Fire Rescue and Escambia County EMS also responded, along with the Florida Highway Patrol.

It appears to be the same lady. Look folks. If ya gonna drink, call an Uber! At least they will get you home in one piece and debt free!

Wilykyote, “So overall not much harm done here.”
Check the insurance rates in Escambia County. They are a good deal higher than other more populated areas of Florida.
Running off of the road happens daily/nightly in the north end.
How much is caused because of no law enforcement attention to traffic violations up here?!?

    Car doesn’t look bad….took out a power pole….
driver seemed ok. It’s a good reflection on
    the manufacturer (Toyota ?). @ 1am most
folks are asleep & prolly didn’t know the
Electricity was knocked out. So overall
not much harm done here. Only complaints
might come from the Electric Company and
the car owners Insurance Company and the
    crushed recycle can company !

Sad that people this age are still drinking. It’s like they’ve learned nothing.

Another drunk off the road, another drunk’s car off the road, another drunk to incur legal fees, suspended license, drunk school, fee’s for the damage to utility equipment – was all of this worth driving drunk?
