Today: Williams Station Day In Atmore, Great Homecoming In Flomaton

Flomaton and Atmore will both celebrate Homecoming Weekends today as part of Alabama’s “Year of Small Towns and Downtowns”.
Flomaton will celebrate at the 2010 Flomaton Great Homecoming.
Open houses are planned at the brand new Flomaton Library, the award-winning Turtle Point Science Center, the Flomaton Area Railroad Museum, the Flomaton Fire Department and the Flomaton Chamber of Commerce’s welcome center.
Over 40 vendors will be downtown Saturday, plus a car show, plenty of entertainment and good food. Saturday’s events begin at 9 a.m. and will continue until 3 p.m.
On Sunday, many Flomaton area churches will hold their annual Homecoming services.
Atmore will take part in the Year of Small Towns and Downtowns with the annual Williams Station Day on Saturday.
During Williams Station Day, Atmore residents and guests will turn back their clocks to 1866 when their community was named Williams Station – just a supply stop along the Mobile & Great Northern railroad. It was a simpler time, when life revolved around the railroads and folks marked time by the sound of the steam engines chugging through town or the whistle of the local lumber mill. We hope you’ll join us in Atmore for this regional festival that promises a fun day of family entertainment.
Williams Station Day is packed with great venues to fit every taste. For the young and young at heart we offer an old fashioned sampling of southern heritage seasoned with the blues, arts and crafts, cane milling and railroad memorabilia.
Williams Station Day will be October 23 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
During William’s Station Day, there will be a bench press contest and a bicycle fun ride to Bratt. Click here for details.
Brewton participated in the Great Alabama Homecoming back on June 19 at Burnt Corn Creek Park with the Alabama Blueberry Festival.
Statewide, Alabama homecoming events will continue through mid-December. Historic markers written by local historians and provided by the Alabama Tourism Department will be unveiled at the events.

To answer question, the date was set by the Govenor,but it’s just a short drive from Flomaton to Atmore so you can enjoy both towns.Looking forward to having a great time.

Flomaton’s Big Day with over 40 Vendors is Downtown Saturday from 9 until 3
October 23rd. The Birds of Prey live show will be at Turtle Point Science Center Lots of Fun For Children with Jumpers, a Clown with Ballons, facepainting and other special things, Entertainment of all types gospel, country, bluegrass modern,FHS Band! Lots of food!!! Huge Car and Motorcycle show with awards! Business Sidewalk Sales! Jay, Flomaton, Century Historical societies also Kevin Mckinley Confederate history!Come Celebrate Small Towns!!!! Do not forget the Brand New Library Open House!!!!Bring Lawn chairs sit and enjoy great Music!!
@ Blessed is there is a fall festival downtown tonight and its the trick or treat in the streets tonight too… The kids brought home flyers from school it starts at 5:30 p.m…… Hope that helps
Hey…all you weight lifters (young and old) come out and participate in the bench press competition @ Williams Station Day this Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 10PM! It will be in the parking lot of the Fire Substation on Pensacola Avenue.
Isn’t there supposed to be something in Flomaton tonight too? Someone said something about a fall festival tonight (Thursday) but that’s the first I’ve heard of it!? Does anyone have any idea what this is about?
