Pedestrian Struck And Killed On New Chemstrand

A pedestrian was struck and killed late Thursday night in Pensacola. He was hit by three vehicles.
The Florida Highway Patrol says Billy G. Beck, 23, of Pensacola, was walking northbound on the paved portion of New Chemstrand Road just south of 10 Mile Road when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. That vehicle fled the scene.
Beck was then struck by the front undercarriage of vehicle driven by Devin J. Poe, 18, of Cantonment. Poe and passenger in his vehicle, Joshua F. Valentine, 18, of Pensacola, were not injured.
A third vehicle, driven by Julian J. Donato, 24, of Pace, then struck Beck.
Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the FHP.
The FHP said they have no information or description of the vehicle that fled the scene. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Cpl. Michael J. Tucker at the Florida Highway Patrol Station in Pensacola, (850) 484-5000 ext.331.

I don’t actually know who Billy is much but I have heard a lot about him from his cousin Christopher. He seemed like a great guy. Billy I am sorry for what happened I truly am. Your cousin misses you so much. So Billy just letting you know your cousin misses and loves you.

I just want to say that I have lived in this area for the past five years. This street is dangerous. No sidewalks, barely any street lights. I have had to walk down this road many times and there are some drivers that pay more attention to their phones, radios, or whatever and ended up off the road. I no longer walk with my back to traffic but still don’t feel safe. If you choose to opeate a vehicle, do so responsibly because you don’t just risk your life but the lives of everyone around you. PEOPLES LIVES SHOULDN’T HAVE TO BE CUT SHORT FOR STUPIDITY! And as far as the first driver goes. You shouldn’t have a license if you can’t pay attention.

Northbound traffic had to stop on Pauline street (not far from this accident) the other day when I came down it. A young man was walking on the side and would not move over for oncoming traffic. His face flashed in my mind when I read this story.
