Donald Eugene Winingar

Mr. Donald Eugene Winingar, 75, of McDavid, Florida, went to be with his Lord and Savior October 8, 2024. Born on January 4, 1949, Don lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family.

A proud veteran, Don served in the U.S. Navy as a parachute rigger, where he developed a strong sense of duty and a love for his country. After his military service, he spent many years as a cross-country truck driver, experiencing the vast beauty of the nation he loved so much. In his later years, Don worked for Escambia County Roads & Bridges as a heavy equipment operator, retiring recently after a long and rewarding career.

He was passionate about antique vehicles and spent much of his time working on and admiring classic cars. He was a man who appreciated craftsmanship and the simple joys in life.

He is survived by his loving children: Carrie (Don) Fisher, Cathie (James) Hightshoe, Brian (Robin) Winingar, and Kevin (Kelly) Winingar. He was a beloved grandfather to Dusty, Cody, Ashley, Sara, Clint, Michael, Hannah, Bryson, Jameson, Aaron, Josiah, Phoebe, Gentry, Hadley, and Macy, and a proud great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren.

Don’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of hard work, love for his family, and service to his country will not be forgotten.

Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 4:30pm at Petty-Eastside Chapel in Atmore AL with Pastor Cathie Hightshoe officiating.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 3:30PM – 4:30 PM at Petty-Eastside Chapel in Atmore, AL.
