Clara Eloise Copeland

October 8, 2024

Clara Eloise Copeland, or Ms. Eloise as her students called her on her bus routes, was a lifetime resident of Atmore. She was born in Booneville Alabama of humble beginnings with a heart of gold. She knew the value of hard work from picking cotton to working at the potato shed for the Frisco railroad. She later followed in her father’s footsteps and drove a school bus for over 40 years.

She loved dancing, being outdoors, whether it was working in her yard planting a multitude of things or floating on the river fishing from a canoe or the bank of any stream, lake or river, or just lounging enjoying the hot Alabama sun. She started going to yard sales when we were very young and enjoyed the idea of having the biggest yard sale of her own. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her passion for helping others, being a role model for her kids on the bus and her own children and grandchildren is why she was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert (Carrie Boone) Caraway, husbands, Lloyd Gary Copeland, Steven Sinclair, James Edward Brown, one son, Mark Anthony Brown, one grandson, Cody Brown, and son-in law, David Dees.

She is survived by her three sons, Blane Charles (Pamela) Brown, of Foley, AL; Bobby Edward (Wanda) Brown, of Costa Rica; Lloyd Wayne (Brandy) Copeland, of Atmore, AL; one daughter, Marilyn Dees, of Salem, UT; one brother, James Caraway, of Atmore, AL; two sisters, Louise Caraway, of Atmore, AL; Mary Hamby, of Ovett, MS; five grandchildren, Blane Nicole Weaver, Shania Brown, Josh Brown, Robbie Brown, Donnie Brown, fourteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild on the way, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 2 p.m. at Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Homes, LLC. with Pastor James Henry officiating.

Burial will follow at Little River Baptist Cemetery 1823 AL-59 in Uriah, AL.
