Breakfast And Lunch Are Free For Every Student At 44 Escambia Schools; Others Must Apply

August 2, 2024

Breakfast and lunch are free for all students, regardless of income, during the upcoming school year at 44 schools and centers in Escambia County. Applications must be submitted for free or reduced price lunches at all other schools.

The Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program means that parents of the students at these schools are not required to submit an application for the Free and Reduced Meal program at that school. However, siblings attending schools not on the CEP list will need to apply for eligibility.

The free meal schools are selected based upon income levels.

Meal applications, or payment, will be required at: Beulah Elementary, Blue Angels Elementary, Cook Elementary, Cordova Park Elementary, Hellen Caro Elementary, Kingsfield Elementary, Suter Elementary, Brown Barge Middle, Ransom Middle, Tate High, and West Florida High.

Parents at these schools should plan on providing their child with money for their meals until eligibility is established to avoid creating a deficit in their account. Funds can be added to student accounts online at myschoolapps.com.

This program has been in place since 2015 in Escambia County and was not related to the pandemic.

    Its hilarious reading all the responses of people being triggered by an OBVIOUS troll. Its even more hilarious to see how all the people who were SO TRIGGERED and felt so CONVICTED to make their point, shut up once they realized they’re being made the butt of the joke by the type of smooth brain person that trolls in a forum like this. For all this talk about people WANTING to be victims…? How about the people who WANT to be mad all the time and are constantly looking for things to fake rage about? Lol no complaints though! I love finding entertainment in places it really shouldn’t be.

    @Roger

    I’m doing my part for my children. I can only birth so many. One a year, two on a really good year. How else do you expect me to increase my income? Its like Mr. Bob said, if everyone just pools their resources I can make sure these babies are taken care of.

    I’ve been on the straight an narrow all my life. I had my first baby just as soon as I turned 14. I bet all of y’all complaining about the lifestyle y’all provide for me waited until you were 18 or 20 years old before you got your first job!

    In a perfect world, every parent would be willing and able to provide for their kids. In a perfect world, houses would never catch on fire. In a perfect world, there wouldn’t be any crime.

    In a perfect world, we wouldn’t need school lunches, or fire departments, or police.

    But we don’t live in a perfect world. We live in a world with hungry kids, and house fires, and crime. However, if we collectively pool our resources, we can help mitigate those problems.

    The sum of everything wrong in a singular statement, “Someone has got to take responsibility for all of these babies.”,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, The ones that made them are the 1st and last people that need to take up this task.

    If it was everyone else’s responsibility why have limits at all??????????? Just keep having till things end..

    Reading all of the these comments is concerning. How are parents supposed to pay for all of their children to eat at school? It’s not like we have a choice to send them. So I’m supposed to use up all my benefits for a service which my kids do not want to participate?

    I wish there was a way to chose my babies’ fathers. If it was that easy we’d all have gotten with a few celebrities and athletes.

    With all of these people paying taxes, you would think they’d be happy their taxes are going toward a good cause . Someone has got to take responsibility for all of these babies.

    @BOB..you comment speakes volumes as to what type of person you are. These are kids!! SHAME ON YOU! SMH!

    @bob

    Bud. We’re talking about making sure children get to eat. Some kids have parents who are on an extremely tight budget. Some kids have neglectful parents. I’m perfectly fine with a bit of change being taken out of my taxes to ensure that kids aren’t starving.

    Atalaya: Only 2 schools? It says you can apply. But Brown-Barge Middle Nor West Florida High school are also not on the list.

    Either all schools or none should provide free food. they want to embarrass the kids attending the schools that still have to apply for reduced or free meals. Kids are cruel and will point it out to their school mates that they have less money. Haven’t we got enough bullying and division all around us without adding to it? I guess it takes a university education to come up with stupid regulations like that.

    JTV,

    We live in an era where everyone is a victim, and no one is responsible for their actions. We cannot help ourselves because we are victims of something…

    We were poor, but mom made sure we had a peanut butter and jelly or bologna sandwich every day.

  13. Atalaya on August 2nd, 2024 7:26 am

    Only 2 schools I don’t see Beulah elementary n Tate high ain’t on that list but 99% of all the schools are. That is not right. If it’s for one school all schools should. That’s my opinion
