Brenda Stewart Spence

Mrs. Brenda Stewart Spence, age 83, passed away peacefully in Pensacola, Florida with her family by her bedside on June 17, 2024 , after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was a native of Phillipsville, Alabama and a resident of Pineville Florida for the past 67 years.

Mrs. Spence loved her family and would do anything for them. She spent many years as a preschool teacher sharing her love with others. She loved to cook especially to make cakes, pies and divinity candy. She also spent countless hours doing word search books. Most of all she taught her children and grandchildren to be strong.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years and 11 months Alton Spence; parents Frank Johnson & Mattie Bell Downey Stewart; 6 Sisters, Christine Heathcock, Frances Hadley, Dorothy Goodson, Evelyn Goins, Jeannette Fickling & Annette McCullough; 6 brothers, Frank Stewart Jr., Edward Stewart, Everette Stewart, Ivan Stewart, Winston Stewart, & Calvin Stewart; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is survived by her children, Howard Spence of Walnut Hill, Florida & Connie (Wendell) Harden of Harvest, Alabama grandchildren, Jessica Ingram of Walnut Hill, Florida, Gunnar Harden of Portland, Oregon, Hunter Spence of Walnut Hill, Florida, Fisher Spence of Atmore, Alabama & Savannah Spence of Atmore Alabama; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside Services will be held at Pineville Community Cemetery, Tuesday June 18, 2024 at 3:00 PM with Sister Helen Stewart officiating.

Petty Funeral Homes, LLC is in charge of all arrangements.
