November 9, 2023

Ransom Middle School was placed on a precautionary lockdown Thursday morning.

“We are aware of the “rumored social media” threats made to area middle schools. These rumored threats were determined not to be credible,” the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said.

The ECSO confirmed that no guns were found at any school.

I know someone who did the same thing a couple years ago and that person was arrested so if they don’t arrest this person for making these false rumored threats then shame on not only the school board for it but shame on the ecso..

Not punishing the kid is unacceptable because it reinforces the bad behavior and causes more kids to commit this crime, which is a felony of the second degree. I wish the authorities would quit being so quick to disregard these problems so they can be appropriately addressed.

I remember when I was in highschool many years back now. We used to have bomb threats at least once a month cause some other students thought it was funny. I believe most where from rival schools. Not saying don’t take threats seriously in fact punishments should be severe for anyone who makes a threat but most of the time slaps on wrist is all they will see. Harden schools have more armed guards bulletproof doors and other deterrents. We guard banks, stores and government offices with armed guards our kids should be guarded as well glad everyone is safe glad nothing came to this but instead of having debates on more gun control that won’t save lives we need to have more mental health help. Have people who can see the signs and help not ignore them and once again harden the schools those steps will save lives.

The school board floods our phones with nonsense messages all the time. It is bad. No alert for something like this? Why? So other adults can protect the lives of our children. So parents can’t get their kids off school property like in TX? So law enforcement doesn’t have the masses coming to muddy up the scene? (Passionate reinforcements). This needs the change. School board should make a giant deal of this. Harden the schools.

I’m a kid from Ransom Middle School. I have never been encountered in a situation like this ever, but it was scary. I’m glad we have security in the school. For everyone seeing this and are new to Middle School like me, I kn9w it can be scary at first, but you will figure it out soon. I am hoping everyone is safe and we can still build this great community.

I am a student at this school and I think it’s ridiculous how much anxiety this caused me. No kid should ever create a rumor like this and cause so much fear. Almost everybody had left the school. More should be done about situations like this.

I’m a student from Ransom Middle and the incident involved a student who made a threat to shoot up the school. He also wanted to rape various students from school. He has dark, black, hair and was in my 7th period with a wonderful agriscience teacher. People of Ransom Middle, please be very careful and I pray for you all.
