The Florida Department of Revenue publishes TIPS bulletins to update merchants on changes to the tax structure. You can view the disaster bulletin online at https://floridarevenue.com/taxes/tips/Documents/TIP_23A01-02.pdf
The bulletins go into greater detail of what’s allowed or prohibited and answers questions such a if gift cards apply.
Estrella, I would contact the Florida Department of Revenue and report that to them to be honest. They should have done this at the corporate level as for as retailers go.
Winn Dixie on Hwy 29 knew nothing about this as of 8:30 a.m. and computers were not set to take off the tax. So I set those items aside and paid for my other items. CVS on Hwy 29 was on Kingsfield and Hwy 29 was on the way home so I stopped there. The staff did not know about the tax free so they ran paper towels and it was in the computer for tax free. So I was able to get the paper towels, trash bags, and toilet paper tax free
