Karyn Michele Treadway

Karyn Michele Treadway, 68, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on February 21, 2023 at Covenant Care Center for Hospice at Sacred Heart Hospital with her family by her side. Michele was born July 7, 1954 in Macon, Georgia and was the first child of her parents Ronald and Florence Barre’, who have preceded her in death.

As the oldest of 5 children, she loved her role as big sister and had a special, unique relationship with each of her siblings. Kevin, her youngest brother, was soon followed by Chris, making Michele the older sister of two boys (which may explain why she was so tough). She was happy to share her 7th birthday with her first sister, Andrea, her youngest sister, Kelly, was born on Valentine’s Day and was always her baby. The family settled in Milton, Florida in the 1960s. Michele graduated from Milton High School in 1972 where she met many of the friends that she remained close with until her passing.

Michele met and fell in love with Dennis Treadway, whom she married on Pensacola beach in 1981 and they remained married until her death. They share two children, Shea and Keelan, who were her pride and joy. Michele’s training as an older sister prepared her to be a natural, loving mother and grandmother which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Michele was a talented artist whose artist abilities were not limited to the canvas. She could sew her own clothes, write beautiful calligraphy, decorate a bakery-style cake, and the list goes on. Anyone who knew Michele knew that she was an absolutely phenomenal cook. She loved food and it was evident in every delicious meal that she prepared. Any visit to her house consisted of a welcoming smile, good food, and great conversation.

Her true happy place was at her home in East Hill. You could find her trying a new recipe, listening to music, working in her garden, watching birds, or just enjoying time with her loved ones. We hope her new home is filled with as much joy as her earthly home was.

Michele is survived by her husband, Dennis of almost 42 years; her two children, Shea Treadway and Keelan Treadway; 2 grandchildren; Mason Kaetzel and Lucca Kaetzel; her siblings; Kevin Barre’, Chris Barre’, Andrea (Barre’) Ellis, Kelly (Barre’) Townsend; nieces Katie (Ellis) Cain, Danielle (Barre’) Sleeper, Mattie Barrie, Summer (Claxton) Sowers, and Amber Treadway; nephews; Brandon Penton, Ben Ellis, and Samuel Treadway; and many other extended family and friends. Michele will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Faith Chapel located at 1000 S Hwy 29, Cantonment, FL 32533 at between 1 and 2 PM on February 25 with a reception to follow at the same location.
