Sneak Peek: New Bellview Library Ribbon Cutting Set

September 12, 2022

A ribbon cutting will be held Friday for the new Belleview Library on Mobile Highway.

“The Bellview Library will be a fantastic amenity not only for the Bellview community, but for the west side of Pensacola as a whole,” said District 1 Commissioner Jeff Bergosh

Construction on the library began in 2021 and was delayed by supply chain problems. The 12,500 square foot facility features a unique origami-inspired design with a capacity to hold 480 people.

Inside, the library consists of a large open space divided into areas for a lobby, story time events, library service programs, leisure reading and more. The open floor plan provides entrances to other support spaces including multiple study rooms, a computer room and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) room. The library plans to hold skill-building classes, daily hands-on activities and more.

“As the newest library in Escambia County in over a decade, the Bellview Library has a different layout and feel than our other library locations. The unique look of the building creates immediate inquiries as to what the building services as, thus increasing community awareness. It was designed with flexibility in mind, and we look forward to hosting events here in the coming years.”

The library was funded by Local Open Sales Tax and library MSTU funds. It will be open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. It is located at 6425 Mobile Highway, at the corner of Mobile Highway and Belleview Avenue (across from The Farm produce market).

The public ribbon cutting will take place at 11 a.m. Friday.

Nothing but sheer jubilee to have a library just minutes away and open on Saturdays! It’s been a long time that I’ve given myself permission to slow down, grab a book and relax! Thank you for blessing us with such a priceless gift Escambia County!

Folks, it’s a blessing to have the library. Would you please find something else to complain about.

I was so excited to have a library close to us until I saw it.

First off, I am very glad to have a new library in Escambia County.
Thank you to” the powers that be” for not wasting our tax dollars.
I agree with Buck, why not have the ribbon cutting when children can attend?
And lastly, is the person who designed the inside colorblind?
Are we still required to whisper in the library since it is already so LOUD inside?
    WOW!

Well, I’m happy to Finally have a library in D1 but, yeah, it’s hideous inside and out. I agree. I’m not a fan of loud, modern design.

I think this Library is absolutely beautiful. It is so modern looking and I am sure it has that new book smell. I am so happy with this design and look and feel of this new addition to our neighborhood !!

I think the library is inviting, especially for children. We need more kids excited about reading. The colors maybe off-putting to adults, but I think children will be drawn to colors.

I love the bright and cheery colors; wonderful news we all need

    Theodor Geisel would be nauseous

Opening ceremonies at 11 am? When children are in school? And can’t attend or participate? How thoughtful!

    That is hideous!

So excited to have a library on my side of town. I Love that it is colorful, you don’t see much color in the world anymore since everyone is obsessed with Grey Love that it is colorful, you don’t see much color in the world anymore since everyone is obsessed with gray and beige. It will definitely get good use and be enjoyed by the community

Please, do not use this building design or colors anywhere else in Pensacola, Fla.

Maybe the kids will love the design but it has made me think I need to take Dramamine just to look at the building and now too include the inside.
There are not any pictures of it here but the sign is impressive at the corner of Bellview and Mobile Hwy. That is to say it is impressive if you are traveling East on Bellview or South on Mobile Hwy. Because of how it is positioned, if you are driving West on Bellview or North on Mobile Hwy you cannot see the face of either side of the sign which seems like really really bad planning on the part of Library Management. The sign needs to be reset so it sits 90 degrees to Mobile Hwy so it can be seen by traffic going in every direction.

That ceiling looks like the ceiling at Sacred Heart Hospital when I had my stent put in.
