Person Struck By Lightning On UWF Campus

One person was struck by lightning at the University of West Florida on Monday.

It happened just before 2:00 Monday afternoon on the UWF campus. The injured person was transported to an Alabama hospital for treatment, according to Escambia County 911.

An update on the individual’s condition was not made available.

    People, do your research on what hospitals & locations takes the best care of burned victims, i.e., USA Health in Alabama is the most advanced and comprehensive burn care on the Gulf Coast.

    We need to revamp know it all commenters who think they are so smart. Lightning victims are often burned. The nearest burn center is in Mobile…in Alabama.

    We need to revamp medical care ASAP – West Florida Hospital is right down the road but they take her all the way to an Alabama Hospital.

    Struck at UWF ..then sent to an Alabama hospital?
    Hospitals here closer ..right down the road from UWF..dont make sense.
    Then again ….nothing does anymore.
