Joseph “Joe” Lewis McArthur

Joseph “Joe” Lewis McArthur of Pensacola, Florida, passed away August 3, 2022. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 22 years, Patricia Antionette, his mother Ada Gertrude and father Willie Fridge, brother Donald, sisters Lucy, Lois, Marie, Elouise and Mary Beth, grandson Daniel, along with several nieces and nephews.

Joe was born January 18, 1946 and worked 45 years building trusses, woodworking, and repairing small motors. He loved to fish and camp, browse thrift stores (especially Marcus Pointe and Waterfront Rescue Mission), go yard-selling, and buy or sell at the T&W flea market, where he was mostly known for selling lawn mowers, he repaired himself.

Joe was a supportive Papa, an honest man, and a giving soul. He was always active, finding ways to stay busy or looking for business prospects. You could catch him doing yard work, shopping, or attending Bellview Assembly of God, where he was a member for 25 years. Joe enjoyed spending time with his granddaughter Lily, tinkering whenever he could, and was always looking for an opportunity to wheel and deal.

Joe is survived by his wife of 33 years, Wanda, his son Joseph “Craig,” (wife Amber), stepchildren Kay, Wanda (husband Bob), Keith (wife Diane), Curtiss (wife Carlota), and many of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brothers James, Jesse, Ray, Arvis, and Fred. Reverend J.B. Shoumaker of Bellview Assembly of God will be conducting a small graveside service for Joe on Tuesday, August 9th at 10:00 AM at Pensacola Memorial Gardens.
