Man Gets Life In Prison For Murdering A Former Molino Fire Chief

October 28, 2021

An Escambia County man was sentenced Thursday afternoon to life in prison for the murder of a former Molino fire chief.

Jared Cordel Clakley, 31, entered a plea of no contest to the charges against him last month. He was sentenced to life in prison on a charge of second degree murder with a firearm and 15 years consecutively for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon for the shooting death of Gary Diamond.

When Judge Coleman Robinson handed down the sentence, Clakley turned around an yelled at Diamond’s family members.

“I’m glad I killed that bitch,” Clakley screamed. “I’m glad I killed him.” Clakley was then forcibly removed from the courtroom by bailiffs.

He faced a minimum sentence of 25 years in station prison, but sentenced to the maximum by Robinson

Diamond was shot and killed outside his Molino Road home shortly after 3:30 a.m. on December 26, 2020.

Three witnesses told deputies that Clakley fired four or five shots at Diamond before fleeing in his vehicle. Deputies found the vehicle wrecked near Highway 95A and Molino Road, but Clakley had fled. A K-9 unit was deployed to track him down. He was later located at a family member’s home near Holsberry Place.

I have to say that court when very well in supporting my cousins death and not so well for the one who took his life. Cindy was amazing and held her composure while reading her impact statement to the Judge as well as Jared. She made every one of us family members and friends that were there to support Gary, Cindy and their children tear up listening to this well thought out impact statement Cindy wrote and how well it was written by her is an understatement. Cindy, Gary would have been so proud of you for the strength you had shown and for the love you expressed about him and your life you had with him. As your cousin, I will say this. You are just as amazing and caring as he was and to have gone through every thing you have and look at the murderer of my cousin and tell him twice that you forgive him really goes to show people what a loving caring woman you are. We love all of you and hopefully this will ease your hearts knowing justice was given for Gary today.

Now if that isn’t dignity, I don’t know what is! So very proud of my cousin Cindy for her strength she showed in honor of her husband, our cousin, our protector Gary Diamond! Everyone keep in mind that Jared left behind gifts from God, including two beautiful daughters who don’t understand as none of us do, family and friends who I thought could never love each other more, but I was wrong, and strength God gives in unthinkable circumstances! Only our sweet Lord will continue to help us through with the peace that only He can give! He is a God of justice and the ultimate healer!

Send him to prison with his braided pigtails. He’s going to be a punk anyway.

God bless the Diamond family and give them strength.

This person is not even worth being call anything but an animal. Gary was a good decent man, unlike this piece of garbage. Real men help people. Look at him, not a picture that makes a mother proud. Guess what Mr Animal… Good people will raise the children you left behind. At least they have a chance in life Bitch…..

@Ensleyboy: Florida has NO parole. The state did away with it in the 1980’s.all that are sentenced to prison must do 85% of it. Alabama could take a lesson from this because it seems that they have a shooting every day. But I really hope that pos stays in there till they take him out in a pine box

It’s called ROT In HELL

After everything is said and done. Gary would still have done every thing to help save Jared’s life. That’s the kind of person he was. He had a kind hearts and a gentle soul. I think Jared should have gotten death row, myself.

Why waste taxpayer money on this turd by letting him live out his days in prison? He is clearly not remorseful. Hopefully somebody takes care of him behind bars.

And this is why we need the death penalty for murderers. I would throw the switch on someone like this in a heartbeat!

  11. Don’t have to on October 28th, 2021 11:51 pm

There is no such thing as parole in Florida

With so much hate and contempt, you sealed your fate., now you are just a taxpayer burden. Removing you from civilized society is all that can be done, The real judgement will be after you draw your last breath…

The Judge should have added without parole to the sentence.

Ole Jared will remember every nite the sun goes down!

  15. mnon on October 28th, 2021 8:44 pm

WOOOHOOO!!! This will not bring Gary back, but glad justice was served.

Oh hey Jared enjoy life in prison thinking about how glad you are.

One less piece of garbage on the street.

Thank goodness for Judges like Judge Robinson. THIS MAN DESERVED life In prison and Judge Robinson made the correct decision. There is NO DOUBT in anyone’s mind he deserved life with no chance of parole.

I am so glad to be living in North West Florida where they have a backbone to do the RIGHT and JUST thing.

    Thank you Judge Robinson.

This needs to be a message to all people involved in crime to not commit a murder or else you will never see freedom again and live a life of absolute hardship and horror in the Florida state prison.

    Good riddance to this killer.

Jared, I pray you find God during your life sentence and realize not only did you change Gary’s family member’s, and friends life’s but you also changed your own family’s life. So sad your mother has lost 2 sons now. I pray God puts his loving arms around all those affected.

Today was a tough and emotional day, however, I feel that the sentence that was handed down was justified. Cindy, Gary’s wife, showed so much strength and composure as she read her heartfelt statement to the judge & court. As a testament to who she is she told Jared that she forgave him. Anyone who knows Gary & Cindy know they were one person. Most people could only dream of having a love like theirs. We were all horrified by the heartless statement that Jared made to the family and Gary’s friends. Gary’s life was devoted to his family, friends and to service of others. He lit up any room he walked into and made every event fun! His senseless murder is so tragic. Heaven definitely gained a beautiful Angel! I love you Gary and will forever miss you!

So sad that a wonderful life was taken that affected so many people by a jerk that has no remorse. Bubba, please take care of this creep!
    Prayers for the Diamond family!

Today was a hard day! Nothing could have prepared me for being in that courtroom this afternoon. It was an out of body experience but the final judgement came and he can’t hurt anyone again. Finally our family got to see #justiceforgary ! Maybe now we can start slowing moving forward although it’s unlikely the fact that he is really gone will ever really settle with me.
