Elmer “Cody” Cobb IV

September 20, 2021

Elmer “Cody” Cobb IV, age 33, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Thursday, September 9, 2021, while at Sacred Heart Hospital Covenant Care. Cody was born to Elmer “Lou” Cobb and Darci Edwards Cobb on October 9, 1987, in Pensacola, Florida. He was a 2006 graduate of J.M. Tate High School. Cody was employed with the Escambia County School District, where he worked in the maintenance shop as a carpenter. Woodworking was his passion, and in the last few years he began building furniture and barns, as well as outdoor patio/pool decks, which led to his business, Cobb’s Custom Carpentry. Cody was a member of the Cantonment Masonic Lodge No. 322 for the past two years. He enjoyed the brotherhood within the lodge and spent many days and nights with his masonic brothers. Cody was also a part of Kaboom Sports where he played kickball with many friends that he considered family.

ln 2015, Cody met Kerri Farinas Cobb, and they married on September 1, 2018. Ln 2017, Cody and Kerri welcomed their first daughter, Sydney Genevieve Cobb, and in May 2020, their second daughter, Kennedy Jean Cobb, was born. His children were the light of his life, and Sydney was often referred to as Cody’s little sidekick. Anywhere Cody went, Sydney was always by his side, whether working in the yard, tending to the chickens, working on jobs, or even taking trips to Lowe’s or ACE Hardware. Cody lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures- spending time with family and friends, taking trips, and watching his FSU Seminoles or his Atlanta Braves. He enjoyed surprising his family with last minute trips and taking his daughters to the zoo or the drive through safari. Cody loved history, especially in reference to Pensacola. This was evident by his colorful tattoos, which represented Pensacola to the fullest. Cody never met a stranger.
ln fact, he made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He would greet most everyone with a handshake and a hug.

Cody is survived by his wife, Kerri Farinas Cobb; daughters, Sydney and Kennedy; mother, Darci Edwards Cobb; father, Elmer “Lou” Cobb lll; paternal grandmother, Mary Francis (Don) Dorin; sister, Kristin (Ryan) Howell and niece, Camryn; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Karen Farinas; sister-in-law, Kimberly Farinas; sister-in-law, Katie (Allen) Givens, nephews, Bryce and Patrick, and nieces, Chloe and Shelby; sister-in-law, Kristen (Andrew) Jackson, nephews, Campbell and Oliver, and niece Addison. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, George and Nancy Edwards, as well as his paternal grandfather, Elmer “Louis” Cobb Jr.

A memorial service to honor Cody will be held at Faith Chapel North on Friday, September 24, 2021. Family visitation will be held from 3:00-3:30pm, with regular visitation from 3:30-5:30pm, and services starting at 5:30pm. A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, September 25th, with a tree planting ceremony as well as a fireworks send-off, which Cody would enjoy as he always did things in a big way.  The family asks that everyone wear a mask, as they are required to attend services.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Covenant Hospice, or donations can be sent to the family for a college fund that will be set up for Cody’s daughters.
