Stanley Otis Stuart

Stanley Otis Stuart, 68, of Atmore, Alabama, passed away on June 17, 2021.

He was born to parents Holt and Jeanette Stuart, on July 4, 1952, in Atmore, Alabama.
 
Stan graduated from Escambia County High School in 1970 and went on to major in Criminal Justice at Auburn University.  Stan served in law enforcement as Chief Deputy for the Escambia County Alabama Sheriff’s Department and Chief of Police for the Poarch Creek Band of Indians Reservation.

Stan is survived by his wife, Jan Hall Stuart; son, Eric Stuart (Angela) of Walnut Hill, FL and daughter, Rebecca Stuart Durbin (Blaine) of Spanish Fort, AL; his four grandchildren, Dillan and Lane Stuart and Audrey and Kari Anne Durbin; his sister, Karen Stuart Dickey (Ron) of Gadsden, AL and his brother, Michael Stuart of Walnut Hill, FL. 

He is preceded in death by parents, Holt and Jeanette Stuart and brother, Kenneth Stuart. 

Stan was a member of First Baptist Church of Atmore, Alabama.  Stan enjoyed being outside, gardening and tinkering.

A Memorial Gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Atmore.

    I had the pleasure of working for Stan at the Sheriff’s Department. I thought very highly of him.
