William Kenneth “Sonny” Knowles

William Kenneth “Sonny” Knowles, age 79, a native of Flomaton, AL and a longtime resident of Century, Fl, passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021.

Mr. Knowles was a graduate of Flomaton High School. He served in the Army and National Guard before starting his career in the Oil and Gas Industry. He retired from Exxon and went on to work for various other companies managing the Flomaton Plant. He officially retired in 2010 and loved spending time with his wife Marcia and his horses. He was a member of the Flomaton Pentecostal Holiness Church and spent many hours reading the Bible.
He was preceded in death by his parents Lois Knowles and Mary Alberta McKenzie Knowles, and his loving wife Marcia Rice Knowles.

He is survived by his sisters Peggy (Paul) Cortichiato, Sue Watson and brother Paul (Karen) Knowles; two daughters Sylvia (Randy) Straley and Cindy Hemme; step children Kim Schroeder, Kathy Hovark, James Hovark and Danny Hovark; two grandchildren Elizabeth Hemme and Kelsey Plant; various very loved nieces and nephews.

He will be laid to rest with his loving wife at the Rock Cemetery on May 29th at 11:00am.

    Met Kenny in 1975 when he transferred to Flomaton plant, worked another stint with him at Flomaton later and then I worked for him at Flomaton plant. I always found Kenny to be tough but fair and it is was a pleasure knowing him, his brother and nephews. RIP old buddy
