Darryl Allen Mattheiss

March 9, 2021

Darryl Allen Mattheiss, age 60, of Tallahassee, passed away February 23, 2021 in Pensacola, with his family by his side.

A son of Emil Rudolph Mattheiss (deceased) and Nancy M. Mattheiss of Cantonment. Darryl was born on January 13, 1961 in Port St Joe, FL.

He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Robin L. Mattheiss of Tallahassee; 3 sons for whom he was “Pops”, Dustin Oaks of Jacksonville, Caleb Williamson of Sacramento, CA, and Kyle Williamson of Tallahassee; brother, Anthony (Tammi); sisters, Sissy (Samuel), and Melinda; and Aunt Jane, all of Cantonment/Molino; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and many close friends that meant the world to him.

Darryl attended Tate High School in Cantonment and lived in Pensacola, where he worked as a mechanic, before moving to Tallahassee. He earned his certification in Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and also worked several years in the home renovation industry before starting his own business, All in 1 Automotive.

Darryl will be remembered as a man who took pride in living a simple life. He gave more to this world than he ever took. He was an outdoorsman whose activities included fishing, boating, vacations in the mountains, and home projects of all kinds. It was rare to see Darryl without a big smile on his face, accompanied by his trademark mustache. Few life experiences compare to the fun of joining him around a bonfire while he dispensed words of wisdom to his boys and entertained everyone with (mostly true) stories of his life adventures – hilariously fact checked by his wife Robin. He worked hard, poured strong, laughed easy, loved with all of his heart and when needed most, he always showed up.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
