Marshall Elwood Welford

Marshall Elwood Welford passed away on December 12, 2020 at home surrounded by family. He was born in Lucedale, MS in 1932.

He joined the United States Navy in 1951. He served on USS BAIROKO. He participated in Operation Castle which, conducted atomic testing. He serve 32 years civil service as an aircraft mechanic with both the Air Force and Navy.

He was a talented carpenter and enjoyed building furniture for family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Marcus, Welford,Sr., Ola Mae Eubanks Welford and one brother Marcus Welford, Jr. He has survived by his wife of 65 years, Delores McDonald Welford; his children Ann Chappell (Robert) , Harold Welford(Shelly), Glenn Welford(Tammy), and Keith Welford (Sherri); eleven grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A visitation for friends will be on Monday, December 14, 2020 from 5-7 pm at Faith Chapel North. A ceremony will be held at Barrancas National Cemetery on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at 10 am with Reverend Roy Chewning officiating. Those wishing to attend the graveside service will need to meet at Olive Baptist Church Campus of Warrington at 9:15 am. Pallbearers are Deric Welford, Dustin Welford, Brad Welford, Cameron Welford, Peyton Robinson, and Devin Canan.
