Michael Heath Morgan

August 26, 2020

Michael Heath Morgan, of Cantonment, was called home by our Lord and left this earthly place on August 23, 2020, after a lengthy illness; he had just celebrated his 80th birthday. He was an electrician by trade who loved his family, classic cars, and the Florida Gators. He was known to all as “Mickey” and was born into a family of six brothers and eight sisters on August 8, 1940, to parents Walter Howard Morgan and Myrtle Lewey Tucker.

Mickey was a lifelong resident of Escambia County whose ancestors were early settlers of the area. Mickey attended Pensacola High School, and later became an electrician. Mickey worked in the construction field for more than 30 years, and traveled across the country working on and managing construction projects. He retired in 1995 from Solutia Systems in Pensacola. He was a classic car fanatic. He owned, restored, and sold more cars than we could count. He was partial to a Chevrolet, but he could turn a rust bucket into a diamond; though he usually regretted selling them and has been known to buy back one or two.

Mickey loved his family, his dogs (Romeo, Juliette, and Charlie) and get-togethers that included his brothers and sisters. Family gatherings were always entertaining and known for arguments over politics and college football. He loved the Florida Gators through and through, and he wasn’t above taking a jab at a fan of the Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Bulldogs, or the Alabama Crimson Tide.

His grandchildren, Scarlett and Dalton, could do no wrong and were the apple of his eye. Mickey married his soulmate, Dolores, in 1971, but they have been together, through thick and thin, for 52 years.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Howard and Tom; and sisters, Judy Yuhauz and June Wood.

He is survived by wife Dolores; son, Kevin (Dawn) and grandson Dalton of Bushnell, FL; granddaughter, Scarlett (Gus) of Wildwood, FL; brothers, Frank Morgan (Tina) and Jack Morgan of Pensacola, Larry Morgan (Madlynn) of Hoover, AL; sisters, Virginia Sims of Kennesaw, GA, Libby Legler of Athens, GA, Connie Moore, of Gulf Breeze, FL, Anne Watkins (Noel) of Ruskin, FL, Luna Hogue (Jack) of Valrico, FL, and Wanda Hammond (Clarence) of Pensacola, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mickey’s life will be celebrated on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Faith Chapel North, 1000 S. Hwy 29, in Cantonment, Florida.

The family will receive visitors beginning at 10 a.m. with services starting at 11 a.m.

Graveside services will follow at Morgan Cemetery on US Hwy 29 in Molino. Those attending services are encouraged to wear masks. Attendees with a classic car are also encouraged to drive them for the procession to the cemetery.

Faith Chapel Funeral Home North is entrusted with arrangements.
