Daniel J. Bolton, Jr.

Daniel (Dan) J. Bolton, Jr. 85, of Cantonment, Florida, passed on Tuesday, August 4, 2020. Dan was born on February 19, 1935, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, the son of Daniel and Stella (Taylor) Bolton. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Spurgeon in LaCamp, Louisiana.

Dan served in both the United States Navy and Air Force. After his service, he worked as an aircraft mechanic for Texas International followed by Continental Airlines. Dan proudly retired from Continental Airlines after over 30 years of dedicated service. Over the years, Dan enjoyed many hobbies and past-times. Dan raced cars, cheered for Alabama football, spent hours watching NASCAR in his workshop, crafted beautiful rocking chairs and other woodworking projects, horse-played with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and relaxed on the back porch with his “momma cat” and kittens.

Dan is survived by his three children, Danny (Sandi) Bolton of Molino, FL; Shonda (Randy) Allred of Pace, FL; and Cathy (Kip) Jones of Carrolton, GA; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Tommy) Reed, Danny (Kristin) Bolton Jr, Amanda (Derek Geuder) Allred, Bryan Bolton, Noelle (James) Sparks, Brandon (Rachel) Allred, Sarah (Jacob) Waldrep, and Micaela Bolton; eight great-grandchildren: Gage, Kara, Clayton, Breanna, Aubrey, Emma, Lilith, and Gryphon; and one sister, Martha (Sonny) Bryant. He is also survived by many more whom he considered his own dear family, including two of his late wife’s brothers.

Dan was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Dot) Bolton; his parents, Daniel and Stella Bolton; his wife’s parents, Buddie and Getsia Spurgeon; two great-grandchildren, John and Keller Allred; and three brothers-in-law, Floyd Spurgeon, Erbon Spurgeon, and Jimmy Spurgeon.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home in Pensacola, FL.

The funeral services were followed with military honors at Eastern Gate Memorial Gardens.
