By The Numbers: General Downward Trend In Local COVID-19 Hospitalizations

August 13, 2020

The latest daily COVID-19 local hospitalization numbers show a general decrease over the last few days.

The data in the chart above, compiled by the City of Pensacola, reflects the current combined number of patients hospitalized on the listed date at Ascension Sacred Heart, Baptist Hospital and West Florida Hospital.

“We are starting to trend downward overall, but we are not out of this yet. Please keep taking preventative actions, including wearing a mask, social distancing and washing your hands often,” Mayor Grover Robinson said Wednesday.

I’m glad for the slight downward trend, but based on previous experience, people in this county are going to grasp at straws with these numbers and push for schools to reopen in full force without masks or any precautions. We’re all sick and tired of this virus, but now is not the time to let our guard down; we need to work as a community more than ever to reduce the spread of the virus, especially with the threat of colder weather approaching.

Wear a mask, social distance, save lives!

Kids going back to school and the Labor day weekend will be opportunities to spread the virus. Wear a mask to help stop the spread!
